It's crazy Danteh actually owns the more tank spots consistently than any other single player. First year on it and taking 3 slots (even if 2 of them are arguably not too relevant), and of course Hanbin taking a few spots as well. :) Texas boys holding down a lot of those slots. Glad to see Whoru honestly get the Genji spot. He was just so absurdly dominant on it individually. :)
I know there are a ton of Soujerns too, but to me it was Merit and only Merit pretty much all year. Any time he was on her, he took over pretty much save for like Houston's last match against Shock where Proper just hit another level..but over the entire year? It has to be his former teammate.

The kiriko pick is legitimately just wrong imo. Fielder's style was a principle reason why dallas were so dominant - his charge rate from healing far exceeded terus and other, similar kiriko's, leading to faster ults - the primary fight winners in the meta.

I would prefer going with "how long did this player play this hero well" than choosing proper cause he popped off in the playoffs after getting actually pretty schooled by Merit and the Outlaws in the upper bracket. =/ like... he was great on her in the playoffs no doubt, but it's not exactly like he was "known" for his Soujern play in the regular season. Sojourn: LIP, proper himself said so. Yes maybe if proper had more play time he would have been the best, but he didn’t, he had a very short window of time to learn her and got top 3, kicking out mer1t after triple deadlifting against him.
Genji: Statistically proper across the board but WhoRU did come close with way less help and had to play first half of the year in horrible living conditions with 300 ping.
Tracer: Proper no contest, sweeps the stats against kevster while having a lesser team, better stats in head to head, better stats in losing matches. Etc.
Soldier: LIP is the best hitscan player ever and the best tracking aimer in the league. Stats say the same, 1st basically across the board.
Sombra: Fits has always been 2nd only to LIP but LIP didn’t play her much and when he did his team sucked ass and sombra couldn’t carry hard enough. So LIP best sombra, Fits best performing sombra.
Ashe: Heesu is the best “performing” ashe throughout this year as LIP, shy, MN3 etc didn’t play much. When LIP did play he was statically the best and most consistent and MN3 had the highest peak and is the most talented raw aimer ever.
Widow: MN3, his teamfight stats are far and away the best. Shoutout to proper who had the best FB/10 and 15 other heroes but MN3 had the most FB, most solo kills, first picks, elims etc. Again, the most talented raw aimer on the most aim heavy hero.
Moira: Finn, died less and healed more than UV. No competition, barely played and a no skill hero, we don’t know.
Echo: Pelican statistically but that may also be because Speedily forced it too much, had to come in late and imo hasn’t been able to shown us all he had to give. Fleta fell off a cliff. Leave didn’t play. Yaki had too shitty of a team. I would say speedily is the best but Pelican was the best performing, alphayi next.
Mei: At first I thought Backbone no competition but checkmate diffs him across the board statistically. Let’s just say backbone given stats don’t say everything, especially on mei. I just wanted to point out the numbers say it’s checkmate across the board. Not much contested hero though. Barely played hero though, could still be Pelican for all we know.
Hanzo: Profit this year I guess? Leave didn’t play him. Birdring retired. Shy didn’t play him. Basically nobody played him.
Cassidy: MN3, arguably the most talented raw aimer. His stats demolish SparkR’s. Per 10 minutes he has 8.6 elims more, 5.8 Fb more, 1.8 solo kills more, 2.5K more dmg, a whole death less. Only LIP and Shy can challenge him on raw hitscan but they didn’t play cass this year.
Winston: Guxue statically, also the hardest carry, most solo impact and had the highest peak. You can also argue Someone who is 2nd statistically but with double the play time as guxue and likewise carried harder than Smurf while on a worse team. Smurf however has proven himself a solid, reliable, championship caliber, supportive tank to profit with a silent carry. Pick whoever depending on what you value.
Lucio: Chiyo statistically. Astro did not play as well in SS where he got punished and even diffed by viol2t. LJG of course bad horrible living conditions in full lock down with internet worse than WiFi for the first half part of the year, tanks who can’t figure out the tank situation. Most talented is Vindaim. Chorong was the number 1 MS rookie by far in contenders even over chiyo and Vindaim but his team sucked ass this year.
Brig: Skewed is the best, idk if he performed the best though. Vigilante, fielder, Izayaki, Chiyo all did great. Vindaim is imo again the most talente, doesn’t make him the best though. Chorong’s team too bad, LJG and yveltal historically good. All main supports were forced on lucio anyways.
Reaper: Edison, highest peak only surpassed because he was shipped to sojourn. Doesn’t matter anyways, it’s reaper lul.
Bap: It is still Shu. Violet is just all dmg no heal in teamfights, no deaths because he takes too much heals, the lack of dmg he takes concerns me, is odd and doesn’t look good. Fielder while having more healing and actually more elims and such, if you look into the actual fights he does less healing, has less final blows, less damages and dies more. Shu by far died first the least also.
Ana: Fielder I think. Shu and maybe Finn made more plays but fielder had WAY more healing in teamfights, dies less while getting healed less and made sure he got damaged less. He is just by far the most reliable, the best raw healer, best supportive Ana, most survivable Ana and still like top 2 top 3 play maker.
Zarya: Hanbin of course. But out of respect I have to note that Someone beats Hanbin across the board, sometimes by a lot, in every single statistic except dmg and did so while playing with a far worse team and with an even worse backline.
Kiriko: fielder. Teru let just as many people die as he killed. Usage of entire kit is way worse too.
Doom: Danteh is 2nd statically but on a FAR worse team than reiner. Still reiner has far more first-deaths and while danteh did die more, he actually took less dmg. This is because he got by far the least amount of healing out of any doomfist in the conversation. A clear team diff.
Sigma: Statistically Coluge, it’s his best hero after all. Did what the team needed, almost didn’t die, beat Fb/D, high elim and dmg.
JQ: Hanbin, nobody is close really.
Zen: Izayaki best zen still. Elims, Fb, Fb/10. Just the best.
Dva: Statistically it’s Hawk Vs void but void hard diffs in deaths per 10. He felt to me like a better team player, smarter player who feeds less but has the same offensive numbers.
Ball: Fate does better than Belo on Fb/D, has better set ups imo, better leader and shot caller, less than half the deaths, first in elims per 10, still more final blows. Ball wasn’t played much though.
Rein: Hadi, no debate. Yes statistically Someone beats him in elims and final blows while playing double the heroes, not really focusing on rush and having his team play around him far worse. But it’s just Hadi no competition.
Sym: Statistically SparkR. Least deaths, best Fb/D, solo kills, elims and FB per 10. Mer1t second statically and played her most. Hydron is close but barely touched her. Kinda a skill hero, barely played, we don’t know really.
Pharah: Checkmate is the best statistically, basically across the board. Jinmu probably better but Checkmate performed better. No competition this year, we don’t know really.
Torb: Statistically Proper but alphayi played him like 2 minutes longer or something. Pick whoever. No competition this year, we don’t know really.
Junkrat: Checkmate statically across the board. It is an irrelevant hero, we don’t know really.
Bastion: Proper best elims per 10, final blows per 10, and deaths per 10. More total elims and final blows, even though speedily played more. Irrelevant hero, we don’t know really.
Orisa: Danteh statistically sweeps clearly. Someone clearly comes in second. Nobody plays her, we don’t know who is best really.
Hog: Danteh is statistically better than reiner across the board, even Fb/D, while on a worse team. No competition this year, we don’t know really.
Mercy: Superrich is the best performing, Yveltal is the best in the world but didn’t play. She was barely played this year idk.

I would say, Pelican did play some Mei this year, and when he did play her, he looked actually better than what Backbone did. They even mirror matched at one point when Houston played London and Peli cleared Backbone pretty hard overall if I remember right. But Backbone at the end of the day just had so much more play time on her, that it's hard to not pick him, plus he never looked bad on her, even in metas where Mei wasn't relevant at all.

I think Peli was technically a better Mei, but Backbone just played it so much more and he was pretty sick on it too. I think just given the play time and consistency on her, is why he gave it to Backbone. (saying this as a a long time Houston fan)

I think Reiner is the best doom by a fair bit. Yeah, danteh's team really relied on it and it's pretty much all they played for the first half, but they didn't really do much let's be honest. I know accolades aren't the most important thing, but the only 2 impressive wins for them ass Dallas stage one (which was very impressive but still an anomaly) and reign who they only beat by a hair. Reiner's Doom did more and helped win them 2 stages. I still love danteh tho
