Every year since that Hershey's Kisses commercial came on TV, when I would hear that sweet little sound of the bells for the first time that holiday season I knew Christmas has begun and got all choked up and get chills 😊
I lived with 3 roommates-2 adult women and one of them had a 6 year old daughter. We got along great and had many good times together. We went to my friend's parents house for Xmas so they could spend Xmas with their grand daughter. My friend's mom was a great cook. Besides turkey and all the trimmings, they had all kinds of snacks-butter cookies in the blue tin, the mixed hard candies and there were candy canes on the tree. I love candy canes. Every year one of our neighbors gave Debra, my friend's 6 year old daughter the Lifesaver storybook and I always got my one roommate a box of Queen Anne chocolate covered cherries because thats her favorite candy. I come from an abusive family and I left home at 18. Xmas with my friends was one of the first happy holidays I ever had. And I've had many more happy holidays with my friends ever since.
@@jayaCatLvr-ys5ix That’s so good that you were able to find a supportive group that are the family you deserved. We hope your Christmases continue to be joyful and memorable.
Great video as always! Here in Blighty there's also Terry's Chocolate Orange, After Eights, Matchmakers, New Berry Fruits and Eat Me Dates :-) Keep up the awesome work!
This is a little late, don't you think. But better late than never, I suppose. In any case, I loved those butter cookies and the lifesaver story books. I haven't had Lifesavers in a long time. Speaking of Christmas treats, do you remember those Christmas stockings that had various treats in them. I miss those, even though they had mainly chocolate in them, which I can't have unless it's white chocolate. I also love getting candy canes for christmas. We used to get the multicolored cherry flavor ones, but nowadays, we get the candy canes for popular candy brands like Skittles, Starbursts, Sour Patch Kids, etc. Also, I know this is off topic, but when is the next Retro Manic stream?
Did you know, in the original roll of Life Savers they took out Lemmon 🍋 & Lime..& replaced them with Green Apple 🍏 and, Raspberry..I remember getting a book of Life Savers on Christmas in the 80's but, I had to share it.
We live near Hershey. Always went to Chocolate World before Christmas to stock up on candy. Ya we knew the same stuff was on the shelf at the supermarket. Afterwards went to Wilbur’s in nearby Lititz for the good stuff.
It’s just outside the park. There’s a ride inside that has a video and animatronic show of how chocolate is made. I when our grandson comes to visit, it’s always in on his do list.
We usally got gelt around Sinterklaas. (December 6th) It just resembled normal money without any Jewish symbols. Nowadays you can buy chocolate Euro's troughout the year. I've even seen a minature cardboard pirate game that came packaged chocolate dubloons.

Ha! It was a pretty reliable signal that celebrating the holidays was a go.
Those Italian treats have and always will be in my Christmas celebrations
Awesome. We weren’t sure how many folks would get feels from them.
Panettone and marzipan stollen are what we have around every year!
Yummy. Hopefully you were able to get your hands on some again this Christmas.

@@RetroDaze Thanks. You too.
I'm glad that you implicated that it was Junk Food. 😆
Ha! Junk food… yes. Delicious… also yes.

Yum! So many great choices there.

I'm guessing this was intended to be released 2 weeks ago 😅 I still grab a box of the Christmas Tree Cakes every year
You are correct. Santa didn’t come through for us. 😆

Nice. Appreciate that bit of Lifesaver knowledge. Cruel to have to share them! 😆
Good video. Thanks.
Thank YOU Doug!

Even though it was the same stuff in supermarkets, there had to be something kind of special picking stuff up at a chocolate shop in Hershey!

Yeah the chocolate dubloons are fun for pirate-themed birthday parties.
Heh… you said booty.
Oh yes we did.
