  • You can do hundreds of things to market your book, but that is overwhelming. As a busy author, you can't possibly do everything all at once. In this video, Julie Broad of Book Launchers breaks down potential marketing activities into the highest priority items that every author should do, and then shares the medium and lower priority items. This doesn't mean you should not do the low-priority items, it just means if you have to choose what to do first you should focus on the book marketing activities that are considered the highest priority.

    I REALLY like the category approach to book marketing. Staying focused on the goals and most important marketing strategies is where it's at. I think it is easy to get sidetracked with low priority activities. Great video to save and revisit again and again. Thanks Julie

    Wow. That is quite a lot to remember and why the marketing side of self-publishing is so key to sales. I will be reviewing this video several times to get the most from it, plus I will be referencing these in your book Self-promote and Succeed.
    These are great tips and I like the fact that you have segmented them out in H, M, L categories. But as you say it all depends on your goals you want to achieve.
    Thank you so very much. All the best.

    Very helpful to prioritize the various marketing activities. I particularty appreciated the frank discussion of free or 99cent promotions. When I started out my self publishing journey nearly everyone I read or talked to personally said this was a very high priority marketing strategy. I did both and found exactly your result. Very little impact on sales or reviews. Why do you think this works in fiction but not nonfiction?

    Wow. You sure packed a lot in there. Brilliant as ever. By the way I just launched Wing of an Angel Czech version and had a blast signing books. But I did a lot of networking and presented on stage a couple of times.
    In Prague they ‘baptise’ your book with champagne on stage! 😂

      FANTASTIC!! I love that idea ... I don't drink champagne but I think that would be so fun!!

    Hello Julie,
    I know at one point , you didn't have a service for marketing books only. Has that changed?

    • @BookLaunchers
      @BookLaunchers  Před měsícem +2

      Hi Linda - we will do it for select books. The challenge we find with this is most authors aren't willing to let us go backwards before we can go forwards (we need to review the book, usually update the book description and bio with keywords, sometimes do some interior changes, prepare a media kit, do research ... ) and then we can begin marketing. So if we have capacity for another client we will take someone but only if they are willing to do the things that must be done for their book to have more success.

    I recently finished my epic science fiction novel. It is 120,000 words. I am starting to tinker with and reedit the back of the book blurb. Is 287 words too long, or is that okay?

    • @BookLaunchers
      @BookLaunchers  Před měsícem

      That's pretty long for the back cover ... you can see if it will fit but it's a lot.

    • @JohnDavidLiebling

      @@BookLaunchers After talking to a number of others, I've decided to edit down my original massive blurb and now it's a more reasonable 193-words.
