I've said it before but I'll say it again - all historians have to do for a full record of Trump's presidency is save the transcripts of Seth's A Closer Look segments from the past 4 years. Done. This is pure perfection once again. In a weird way I am going to miss these cathartic, seething, yet frighteningly not overexaggerated summations of the horribleness we had to endure. Many kudos to the entire staff of Late Night for delivering these brilliantly researched and powerfully written pieces.

These last four years have felt like four hundred years.
The next time someone tells you that voting doesn’t matter, remind them about this regime and the harm they needlessly caused.
I think this year showed the importance of voting. Highest voter turnout for a general election since 1968 and lead to kicking out an incumbent.
Still handy to acknowledge that Gerrymandering, Voter suppression, FPTP, Electoral College, and misinformation campaigns by media empires (see: propaganda) all played their part in disenfranchising voters to the degree that the last 40 years, let alone Trumps 4 years, played out like it did resulting in contributing to the conditions that have lead to multitudes of suffering and death.

@@metaldreams3595 Not quite. The thing you're referring to is a legal _settlement_ to avoid a long and costly court battle with each and every family that was detained at the border, and their families separated.
There's good reason to believe that those court battles could result in costs well in excess of $450k, so the easier (and, arguably more appropriate) solution is to settle those cases, pay out a pre-determined amount, not draw out legal battles that will incur their own costs, not continue to detain people, which incurs its own costs, and so on.
It would not invite others to come over and get their own free hand-out because we're not violating basic human rights the way Trump's administration did. The US immigration policy guaranteed certain things, and some of the decisions made in the prior admin broke those policies. That $450k is compensation for blatant disregard for human rights and violating our own legal policies, not a reward for illegal immigration.
What that has to do with hormones, I have no idea.

He went on to have a very successful and honest career that culminated as Secretary of Labor of President Zedillo. Yet what he looks back with most love and reverence, was his work for the Census. He has always argued “the Romans knew more about themselves than we do”, speaking about how they understood the importance of census and statistics. He might not see the next decade either and in such case will be remembered dearly by all the people that touched his life and whose life he touched. Your comment made my day and I thank you for it.
