Over 4 years of riding a motorcycle almost everyday, I've learned how to countersteer, trailbrake, clutchless shift and rev match, but one thing I find difficult to learn is doing tight U-turns. Thanks for this. Fear is indeed the only thing that hinders me from mastering this.

I started reading about motorcycle accidents and saw the gory pictures. I freaked myself out and the fear factor has returned. Trying to get back into riding. I stopped a few years ago, after my brother, who was a moto-cop for 26 years, was in a terrible accident. He was riding in right lane, at 50mph, was side swiped by someone changing lanes. Initial impact broke his Femur and left hand. He went down and slid 60 feet, with the bike on top of his left leg. Stopped by a traffic sign post. Tore his lower leg to shreds and severed an artery in the same leg. Probably would have bled to death, if it wasn’t for an ambulance that was driving right behind him. Two months in the hospital, broken hand, broken hip, severed artery, 27 surgeries, an amputated left lower leg, but he survived, barely. It’s been a couple of years and he’s finally up and getting around with his prosthetic leg very well. I’ve laid off riding for my own mind and that of my family. But, I’m dusting off the bike, replacing tires and brakes and getting a tune up. It’s time. Thanks for your videos !

I learned yrs ago, i you go into a corner "Too Fast" LEAN! and stay off the brakes..[Disclaimer] Corner ABS..Might work..
i just bought a 2017 Ultra Limited, coming off a Suzuki M109. wow what a difference in weight and handling. I find your videos excellent training. I may have to find a riding school to learn how to ride and handle a bigger bike
One reason I'm afraid of leaning my motorcycle is because our roads in the Philippines are so bad that the surface often jerks my bike back and forth while I'm straight up so if I have to go around a curve in the road this might make my bike suddely flip over. If I'm making a turn, I never know if someone might pass me on the turn, on either or both sides at the same time and there might be a pothole or sudden change in the level of the road, or in a rain there might be a large pool of standing water or some sand. U.S. roads are heavenly in comparison to our roads. U.S. roads and drivers are much, much better. The road surfaces in the U.S. are almost always consistently smooth.
been watching your videos for a few months now + I have a copy of "the new ride like a Pro - DVD" - just wondering if you have any training staff in Melbourne, Australia or can recommend somewhere, over here, that would HELP me with private / group lessons PLEASE......... very much struggling with that FEAR OF SLOW RIDING and SLOW TURNING!!!!! - Thankyou
My eyes are always staring horizon line in the sky and chest upper, use my abs and back muscles, with a right line for my back in order to avoid injuries.
I’ve been riding since I was 8 yrs old and the older I get it seems the worse I ride. I went through several MC safety courses throughout my life but like everything else if you don’t ride a lot skills fade, at least for me they have. I’d take another course if there was one local just for a refresher.
So a question for you. Watching this, I haven't heard you address this. On the figure 8, do you let off the rear brake as you change directions, or just keep light pressure all the way through without changes? Love the videos! Can't wait to start riding again
Am I the only one is is scrubbing the mouting bracket off the floor boards? 14' street glide. You'd think the floor boards would hit first..and they do..sometimes!
You're not the only one. The Street Glide has 1'' shorter shocks in the rear than an E/Glide. That 1'' makes a big difference in it's lean angle. Back in 06 i bought 2 Street Glides, one for my wife and one for Maryann. They complained so much about the lack of lean angle I had to put standard H.D. shocks on both bikes just to shut them up....errr..just to keep them happy, I meant to say.
Love your videos jerry, wish I'd seen them before I dropped my 83 Yamaha Venture 3 times! (two out of three times it was during slow speed turning) I've since found out these bikes are quite tall & top heavy @ 750 lbs & I'm only 5'5". I hope to start practicing these tips on slow speed turns next year after winter is done here in Mi. BTW; Are there any classes up here in the frozen North?! ;) (That & I am going to buy or modify my seat to be lower)
Yes, I have a training location in Michigan, go to my website, www.ridelikeapro.com click on TRAINING LOCATIONS from the home page. Scroll down the page and find a class that's close to you.
I try to lean my motorcycle everytime I turn like you say but here in India the bike tyre will surely skid due to the sandy road or else somebody will surely collide so you have to look both sides before turning and plus my over weight pillion makes it even harder... Please visit India and give some customised lessons for us. Thanking you...
Great video and advice, as usual. Hey Jerry, if I wanted to take your class, do you, or can you, provide a bike? I’m in jersey and would love to come to Florida, but would be too long of a ride on the bike. I’d love to, but my wife would kill me:-).

She is great on a bike.
Hombre, me gustan mucho sus videos. Ojalá lo tengamos mucho tiempo mas en la tierra. Saludos
Thank you. The scraping an accident during a turn did scare the crap out of me. Insta over correction, not a good place.
So a question for you. Watching this, I haven't heard you address this. On the figure 8, do you let off the rear brake as you change directions, or just keep light pressure all the way through without changes?
Love the videos! Can't wait to start riding again
Light pressure on the rear brake thru out the exercise.
I am an old guy and I down sized to a Yamaha v star 650. Problem I have is these bikes have a friction zone that you can't hardly find.

3am Lithuania is 8pm Eastern.
Thank you sir, excellent!
Would love to take your class but I live near Chicago IL. Maybe one day you will be in Illinois!
So no one noticed the rainbow, thats why the video is good 👍👊
I really luv ur channel
thanks.
Great video
Ride Like a Pro Jerry Palladino LOL...I hear ya Jerry
Actually 3 AM in Lithuania would probably be mid-afternoon where you are... :-P
I think he meant the other way around. It would be pretty weird for them to call during the middle of their night.
@@SmallSpoonBrigade LOLOL... Definitely ....
Great tips thx 🙏🏼
Correction turning right in the near 2 lanes
Nice rainbow.
We don't provide bikes but Eagle Riders in Tampa can rent you any Harley.
@@motorman857 Excellent!!! Thanks so much. I'll try to make it a point to visit you at some point this summer. Mean time, I'm practicing all the time. and, you're right. riding is so much more enjoyable when you can do these maneuvers. However, I still suck at U turns:)
Jerry is why I am not dead 13 years later.
Love your videos, learning a bunch, I know its trivial, but you said a rider got struck and killed by lightning on I-75 up in Jacksonville,,,, I-75 doesn't run through Jax, it was probably I-95. I-75 run down the west side of Florida. Just FYI.
Yes, it was I-95, my mistake.
Have Amazon sell it. It's easy to do.
Make this stuff look easy. More people should practice like this...I mean actually practice, not just learn as you ride on the street, that's asking for trouble
Nice video
Myself learning good ..😏😗
