      Well they are extinct in the wild for now. I can tell you, their population went up from 53 in 2000 to 158 this year, so the breeding program has been successful, and all will be reintroduced into the wild in 2021 according to ACTP. But yeah a lot of people are very selfish.

    To those saying theyre extinct, they are not. They attempted to release some into the wild but i dont think it worked. There are still atleast 50 being bred. I really hope they recover. If anyone knows any charitys for them please let me know🙏

      @toointoxicatedtobescared6853 Před 4 lety

      They shouldn’t release them into the wild until the population is 10,000+ . They are blue birds so they don’t camouflage well so releasing a small number will just kill them

      @@toointoxicatedtobescared6853 Yes thats very true. Its a really bad idea realesing only 50 of them to the wild. The birds will just be gone quickly. Especially with all the deforestation going on.

    • @hansyuan4116
      @hansyuan4116 Před 3 lety

      @@einghel261982 I disagree; the point of this project is to protect what is left of the species and help to regain their numbers. One cannot simply wait for the population to grow, because unfortunately, it won't unless we do something about it. However, it is true that the project is very difficult, but the more birds they breed, the more offsprings they will receive in the future, so it's not without hope!
