i also alpha shiny hunted gardevoir, i went to a kirlia outbreak and there was an alpha shiny gardevoir just sitting there, and honestly my reaction was similar to noki's reaction to the alpha shiny ralts
I shiny hunted alpha gallade just by resetting the area over and over but during the second horde of a MMO I found a shiny alpha ralts…………

I remember after getting my first ever Shiny Alpha, a Crobat, I planned for gardevoir to be my second shiny alpha. When I entered the icelands to do my first check on the alpha gardevoir, I found a ralts MMO instead and in the second horde I ended up finding a shiny alpha kirlia. It was female and I evolved it into Gardevoir.
So to my understanding the thing with the berries work like this: you know how when you lock onto a Pokemon there's the usually orange pokeball symbol above their head, and it turns to a red X when you can't catch them? That's how "guarded" the pokemon is at the moment.
Razz berries are the only ones that raise the catch rate as we've always known it, but that catch rate is then modified by how gaurded the Pokemon is at the moment, and any kind of eating lowers its guard, usually bringing it from orange to yellow, making it easier. This is also why the cakes exist- they lower the pokemon's guard all the way down to green, making it even easier.
I actually don't know if a Pokemon has to *finish* eating a Razz berry to raise its catch rate, or if you stack the bonuses by throwing a ball while a pokemon is eating a Razz berry. And then of course back strike bonus.
Interesting... I definitely think I need to use the cakes more, they seem super useful. I don't even know if I've ever thrown one before lmao, probably would've been a good idea

I’ve been using cakes and let me tell you: they don’t feel like a major upgrade half the time. I’ve used preferred cakes and a gigaton on an alpha, pokemon escaped. Threw an ultra ball with no food? Pokemon caught..

When you stun a Pokémon with globs the “guard” goes from orange to green as well so maybe you can mix stuns with berries

7:30 addendum: do NOT throw the berries at the pokemon. Throw pokeballs. A pokemon hit by a berry will not eat it out of the air and will be pissed

I have like 200+ hours now and I have 3 shalphas: H-Goodra, H-Electrode, and Empoleon
I've only found one and barely noticed cause it was a Zubat in my 150+ hours 💀

best strategy: 1st: save the game when you see it. 2nd: throw the pokeball. 3rd: if it goes out, restart your game, then throw it again. repeat until you catch it.

I had a mini version of this happen with my third shiny hunt, the day before yesterday. I was SOS hunting Houndoom in Ultra Sun and really wanted to get it in a Beast Ball, which is very hard to do, and I only had 9 of them in my bag, and the first 8 failed, but the very last one managed to catch it.
I probably sound like such a newbie talking about how I’ve only done three shiny hunts, but I’ve actually been playing Pokémon for 18 years, and I encountered 20 shinies in that time just from random encounters, but I’d just never done a hunt before last week, and now I’m kind of hooked on it, even though I think Pokémon’s regular forms are generally better than their shinies (which makes sense, because the regular forms are the ones you’re going to be seeing more often, so of course their creators want them to look their best).
My first successful hunt was an Alolan Meowth, the second was a Rockruff, and the third was a Houndoom. I’ve unfortunately tried and failed many times at getting a shiny Midnight Lycanroc, which makes me sad, because it’s possibly my favorite shiny and almost certainly at least one of my top five alongside Dusk Lycanroc, Houndoom, Origin Forme Giratina, and Hisuian Zorua.
If the expert shiny hunters have any tips on hunting Midnight Lycanroc in Ultra Sun, I’d appreciate hearing them.

I only use regular pokeballs for all of my shinies. I have done that since I got into I'm gen 6.

5:30 the shiny misdreavus disapeared because when there are pokemon near an alpha and the alpha aggros at you all the pokemon in radius of the alpha will disapear

Anything a Pokemon eats will increase the chance for a back strike catch while its eating, Razz will increase chance further if they finish eating it.
the only reason the misdreavus ran away is because some pokemon run away when the alpha screams
