Super glue is not an ideal choice for application as it flashes off too quickly. Rubber glue is far more friendly and acts as a lubricant when sliding the grip on, saves blisters too🤣... Renthall glue is excellent, we have used it on our race bikes and our service centre for decades.

Probably good to mention to take care with the super glue on the throttle side........I've had glue somehow get between the throttle sleeve and the handle bar, causing the throttle to stick open after installation. Always check the end of the bar and clean any glue that has made its way to the end of the grip.

    Thanks Nessa & Oxford Products
I bought some Oxford Pro (Touring) grips for my CB1000R this week.
Need to check my bike as I have seen some talking of using a file ro remove locator pins/bumps on "some" bars.
Was looking for my rubber mallet to knock the new grips home....Will now aim to push/wiggle to avoid damage.

Make sure the throttle side dry fits very loosely before attempting to glue it or you will like be buying a new throttle tube as well as a replacing throttle side Hot Grips. Very loosely as in there is no resistance at all on or off. Also maybe don't put the glue on before you slide it on, put it about 3/4 of the way up on the throttle tube. I am having to replace my throttle tube as well as the right side grip because it seized on 3/4 of the way up in less than 2 seconds.

@@polynoominen If you have a metal throttle tube, maybe. Otherwise no. The grips themselves are made to be hot and have overlapping plates along the length of the inside that shrink down to clamp on to whatever you are glue them to when the glue hits the plastic coating lining the inside of them..

Great informative video but raises some questions. What voltage level activates the cutout or is it just a voltage drop? I read somewhere that they remember the settings, does this mean that if they are left to autocutout they don’t need to be switched back on every time the bike is started? If so, will they come back on when I hook up my battery optimiser?😮

The HotGrips can be attached via 2 methods, and have 3 Battery Saving Modes (BSM).
      BATTERY SAVING MODE (BSM):
Lead Acid (BSM) + Lithium (BSM)
BSM is designed to save the motorcycle battery from being drained to a low voltage level, and causing damage to the battery.

    • @mj-r0s3

      @flippy66 Před 8 měsíci +2

    • @OxfordProductsLtd

The Clutch side grip should be able to peal off without cutting the original grips - the throttle side is bonded to the throttle tube. If you want to keep the original grip intact you should be able to purchase a new throttle tube online or from a Suzuki dealer.

Take the bar ends off, slide a flat bladed screwdriver between rubber grip & throttle tube, squirt some brake cleaner up the space next to the screwdriver & rotate the screwdriver around the throttle tube to break the seal. Pull the grip off. Easy.

They each have a different grip.

Adventure - Ideal for off road trails featuring a waffled finger-grip area for increased control.
Touring - Vibration absorbing tread, which is ideal for comfortable long distance cruising.
