    Make sure the throttle side dry fits very loosely before attempting to glue it or you will like be buying a new throttle tube as well as a replacing throttle side Hot Grips. Very loosely as in there is no resistance at all on or off. Also maybe don't put the glue on before you slide it on, put it about 3/4 of the way up on the throttle tube. I am having to replace my throttle tube as well as the right side grip because it seized on 3/4 of the way up in less than 2 seconds.

      A rebuttal from a commonwealth country- Canada. smirk....I'm not looking for a fight just hear me out.......I just had to say something to your comment. Stubbzzy310, And by the way, Your comment bent me funny like. .I admit it......I ride a Ducati 1098 superbike and even hate putting on the factory tail bag. So not a luggage connoisseur by any stretch. I am normally impartial but I do reign as a sarcasm aficionado ..And well...your comment stirred me into thought & prose......By your reasoning there would only be 1 motorcycle manufacturer in the world. Because anyone improving or making similar product has "ripped them off". OK then game on.... I choose a Peugeot motorcycle with a Lazer Helmet, on John Boyd Dunlop's wearing Lewis Leathers with John Pound travel bags. those are the reported oldest of each category. (quick search). Bet I would be looked at funny....yea lets not make anything good , better or widely available....brilliant ! Not to be fact checked but I researched the many companies who make dry bags..Just for you, because your comment had prime rental space in my head....So Oxford made luggage since 1973 Kreiga was founded in 2000. A lifetime guarantee vs KIreiga's 10 year.....So they didn't "rip-off" SW mototech? giant loop, Cucyma ,TOURATECH or the dozens German, Scandinavian, European or Asian and Indian manufacturers designs nor those not seen in regular media channels eh? (yes yes run-on sentence ..sue me...) .cmon mate....loads of similar examples. Oxford, it seems, took the best of the top features from multiple brands, (including their own) heard from their customers and dealers and made their own style. As good manufacturers do. I own no Oxford products but I may buy one and imprint "Stubzzy310" on it, in honour of the lesson you gave us & to all manufacturers, entrepreneurs and designers alike. Cheers !

    Great informative video but raises some questions. What voltage level activates the cutout or is it just a voltage drop? I read somewhere that they remember the settings, does this mean that if they are left to autocutout they don’t need to be switched back on every time the bike is started? If so, will they come back on when I hook up my battery optimiser?😮

    • @OxfordProductsLtd
      @OxfordProductsLtd Před 6 měsíci

      The HotGrips can be attached via 2 methods, and have 3 Battery Saving Modes (BSM). BATTERY SAVING MODE (BSM): Lead Acid (BSM) + Lithium (BSM) BSM is designed to save the motorcycle battery from being drained to a low voltage level, and causing damage to the battery. LEAD ACID BSM - IDEAL FOR AGM/MF/WET BATTERIES • The BSM kicks in at <13.3 Volts, this shows that the motorbike alternator is not running, the battery is faulty or the load on the system of the motorbike is too high. At this voltage, the BSM kicks in cutting the power to the grips and the BSM LED flashes green. • The HotGrips® will then read and record the voltage over a 2 second period to confirm that the voltage has dropped below this set level. • The BMS will continue to flash and provide no power to the grips but will continue to monitor the battery voltage level. This will happen for a period of 5 mins - if the voltage remains within this voltage bracket the controller will turn off. OR • Once the threshold voltage level reaches <12.8V (over the 2 second period) the grips will completely cut off within 15 seconds. • If the voltage level rises above 13.3V before the <12.8V time limit has been reached the grips will kick back in and provide heat to the grips - cancelling BSM LITHIUM BSM - IDEAL FOR LIFEPO4 PERFORMANCE BATTERIES • The BSM kicks in at <14.0 Volts, this shows that the motorbike alternator is not running, the battery is faulty or the load on the system of the motorbike is too high. This will happen for a period of 5 mins - if the voltage remains within this voltage bracket the controller will turn off OR • Once the threshold voltage level reached <13.6V (over the 2 second period) the grips will completely cut off within 15 seconds. • If the voltage level rises above 14.0V before the <13.6V time limit has been reached the grips will kick back in and provide heat to the grips - cancelling BSM If the battery is damaged, has an extremely small capacity (AH) or the motorcycle has a large drain from other accessories then the batteries running voltage may be low enough to trigger the BSM to protect the battery. In the case that the motorcycles battery has an extremely small capacity (AH), the HotGrips® should be wired to a ‘switched live’ and the BSM should be turned OFF. CHANGING BETWEEN BSM MODES: There are 3 BSM settings, Lead Acid, OFF and Lithium BSM. To change between modes ensure the HotGrips® are already on, press and hold the power button for 5/7 seconds, this process will turn off the HotGrips® however, please keep holding until the green light (flash) is visible. The number of flashes will indicate which mode the HotGrips® are now in, this will need to be repeated to cycle through the 3 settings. The HotGrips® are preset to Lead Acid BSM from factory. ‘1’ Flash - Lead Acid (AGM/MF/WET) ‘3’ Flashes - OFF ‘5’ Flashes - Lithium (LiFePO4) Wiring options - Directly to the battery - HotGrips will need to be manually turned on, and manually turned off or user can rely on the BSM to turn the HotGrips off. To a switched Live - HotGrips will automatically cut out once the ignition is switched OFF or if the BSM mode kicks in as explained above. Once power is cut to the HotGrips (Switched live turned off) the HotGrips will remember the last recorded heat setting and once power is restored will return to the saved heat setting.

    I took it apart and can't see how see it works, it looks like type of magic as it's just a plastic barrel. How does it know it's locked etc how does it know to go off, or is that a trade secret? I'm concerned about it randomly going off because it is unbelievably loud and that's just the initial beep. I can only imagine the horror that would be unleashed if it actually went off indoors. The good news is it is more effective than i expected it would be, so it's not a negative by any means.
