Yes. Would like to see a video on tailoring with a waist seam. This video was very helpful!
Me too ❤
Yes!
Yes please 👍
Excellent.
Yes please!
I wouldn't mind seeing a video discussing how much ease to leave in various parts of a garment, assuming such a subject can even be summarized.
Me, too. I struggle with this.
Great suggestion. I will add it do the list. It really depends on how you like your clothes to fit. I generally go for no ease or a very small amount.
Just what I was looking for!

@@SewAnastasia thank you.
You are a great teacher, Anastasia@ thanks
Very helpful! That big kitty matches the dress!
Ha. Yeah she does.
Love this video. I have a a very broad back/shoulders and a short waist. I love "sheath" dresses with front and back darts, but they never fit. I beg you to consider doing a video on how to modify a sheath dress for girls like me!
So helpful! I didn't realise how much easier this could be
Oh Iris ❤❤❤ she’s such a beauty. Love watching all of your videos for ideas
Iris is a big fluffy cutie for sure. ❤️ Thank you for watching.
Hello Anastasia,
I really appreciate your taking time to make these videos for us. If you haven't made one, I'd love to see how you make a regular fit dress into a sort of "flowing" dress. I would imagine it's just a matter of adding fabric to the skirt part, right ? But, would you need to add pleats into it or not ? TYSM for sharing your techniques and knowledge with us. Take care, and, love your channel. Thanks, either way. 😉👍😻
Another great video. I’ve a dress that needs some darts and now I feel confident that I can alter it. Thank you.
A really excellent and informative video! You are sooooo creative! Thanks so much Anastasia.
Thank you for watching.
Awesome Video!
Thank you :)
This is a very informative video. I have tried darts before, but your method is much easier and more precise. Thank you for posting.
I happened upon this video after watching the one about adding sleeves to a T-shirt. You have inspired me. Thank you.
Happy to hear I have inspired you 💖 Happy sewing 🧵 & don’t forget to sub so you get to see all the new vids every week. 🎀
Nice useful instructions, thank you. You know I was looking forward to seeing you model it though lol...
LOL next time. I need to also tailor the front of it.
Yes, I would like to see a video on taking in the back of a dress with a waist seam. Thank you.
Great, I will add it to my list. Thank you for watching today.
Would love to see the next one with waist seam
Cool, thanks for letting me know.
Great video. A video how to take in pants with a waist band would also be most helpful. You did a wonderful job showing / explaining this. Thanks.
Yes I would like a video on tailoring with a waist seam.
Excellent. Thank you for watching.
Beautifully executed video Anastasia. I learned a lot….also you synched the deal with your lovely furry companion 🐈⬛!
Love this video, thanks for sharing. I have inserted darts in several tops, have just done it by eye, this will be so much better, especially as I do have a dress form.
Would also love to see tailoring with a waist seem.
Thanks
Thank you for watching & sharing some feedback 💖 Happy sewing.
Yes..please show how to tailor up a dress with a waist seam. Thanks
Done and done. Thank you for watching.
You’re a great teacher!❤
Your work is beautiful
Magical thank you
thank you!
I would like to see a video with a tailored waist seam
This is exactly what i needed, Thank you so much.
I loved this video! Thank you 😊
Thank you Anastasia! I did have a go at taking in a thrifted dress using back darts and I was pleased with the result, and even more so now, seeing your tutorial, that I had done most of it right. The only thing I didn’t know about was releasing the dart by clipping into it and cutting off the excess material. Great tutorial. I always look forward to watching your channel. I have learned so much from you.
That’s awesome you made your dress fit better :) Thank you for watching & happy sewing. 🧵
Thank you for this very clear instruction. QUESTION: can I add back darts to a linen dress cut on the bias (no back seam)?
i love this, thanks!
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Thank you. This was easy to understand. Can I make the same kinds of darts in the front of the dress instead, or in addition to the back?
Thank you so much for your tutorials. They are so so helpful!!
You are so welcome!
All your videos are welcome. More information the better!❤
Your videos seen tocome out just when I am pondering a similar project. Very ironic!
Ha. That's awesome. I will add it to the list. Thank you for watching today.
I would like to see a video on how you would approach replicating a favorite garment without taking it apart.
I would have distributed some of the fullness to the side seams instead of huge darts.
I would agree - divide it into four instead of two.
I think she said in the video she has other videos on taking in stuff via side seams as well. This video is focused on the single technique, which makes sense because it's easier to learn things one thing at a time.
Yes you can do that and you will also have to re shape your armholes and your sleeve. So by just adding the darts you will not be changing the fit of your armhole. It really depends on how much you need to take in and how the garment was made. You can defiantly do both or just one method.
Love that your cat matches the dress, lol😂
Right?!
I've been wanting to amend a vintage dress, that's too bulky up top, but the waist fits. Had it a few years, but don't know how.
Great video, I have a dress in mind for this alteration but I don't have a dress form and I'm not really sure how I could do it on myself. Can I put the dress on backwards? Would that work?
It would probably work as a preliminary step, then put it back on frontwards and see how it looks, then adjust if needed. You can also pull some of the extra out at the side seams, which is easier to do on yourself.
Trying it on backwards won't work for most people - our fronts and backs are pretty different shapes. Probably best to either find a friend to help or to pinch and feel about how much you think you need to take in with it on, then pin it and try it on. You can make adjustments from there depending on if it's too loose or tight still. It's just less direct.
If you measure yourself and then measure the garment you can pin up the extra through the darts and try it on and then adjust from there.
Just curious, why wouldn't you just take in the side seams?
It is not always an option on a garment and you can make it unbalanced by doing that depending on how much you need to take it in. This will actually give you shape in the back and not just at the sides. If you take it in at the s.s you will also need to mess with altering the sleeve and armhole.
If you only take in the side seams or even just the back seam, it will end up bunchy and weird in other areas. Darts are the best way to effectively take a garment in so to ensure the garment stays even all around. However darts are surprisingly difficult to do which is why I'm watching this tutorial 😂
What dress form do you use please?
Some of them are PGM or from Roxy mannequin
nooo what did you do with the darts in the end i wanted to see.
aka how did you "clean up" the edges
Try it on before you cut the access off……😢
