Love this a lot. I love exploring lots of different fields, but then occasionally question whether I'm spreading too far to really excel at one thing. This really helps bring back faith in that approach, and also finish certain projects I started with limited resources. Thanks so much for sharing!!
It's okay to have lots of different interests! The most fulfilling career paths are the ones that stimulate your curiosity, align with your beliefs, and allow you to combine your interests/skills in unexpected ways. 💚
Remember, a master has failed more times than a novice has even tried.
Spoken like a true philosopher
Solid advice and helpful insight on navigating the creative process. Thank you Mr. Burtt.
Great down to earth interview with an amazing sound designer, thoroughly enjoyed both of these vids with Ben Burtt.
Thanks for watching!
He used a word that many kids today have grown up almost entirely without. Ben needed a place to plant his imagination to grow it. Imagination could be the next gold in value to society.
This video is fairly old. Not from 2019 but more like 2014. It must be a repost, because Ben Burtt was born in 1948, so he is currently almost 73 (May 2021) and in the video he says he is 65. --- It doesn't detract from the enjoying the video, but I wish the actual date of the video was at least in the description.
Thanks for that feedback! You are spot on about the date - we interviewed Ben for our public television series back in 2014, but we didn't post the interview here on CZcams until we relaunched our channel back in 2019.
very intresting video! Burtt is such a genius.
What were the songs used in the background for this video?
Stooge
@@malcolmlinney8624 Is there an album or band name you can help me out with? I looked up the name but there are so many options I can't seem to find that particular one.
@@samsonheisey3115 He's making fun of you.
thanks, appreciate it@@rossapolis

why do you have nobody hipsters and not actual sound editors, foley artists, sound designers, you wasted a master craftsman's time.
You seem to have missed the ENTIRE point of this channel - from the about page

Accomplished sound designer and foley artists already know where they are and the steps needed to get there
Bad message and absolutely terrible response.
The sound designer himself, CHOSE to give his time to the people in the video. He can spend his time as he chooses.
Because what Ben Burtt said is universal. You can apply that to every life. He was not specifically talking about the nuts and bolts of sound design. If you want that, check other videos here on youtube.
