One of the greatest sound makers of all time. He knows he couldn’t just reuse Star Wars sounds.

Wall-e was absolutely a work of art, pure genius from start to finish! I loved the movie so much that my boyfriend went and bought me the doll. I am really hoping that he figured how to pass on his knowledge.

Wow, Eve's lasers were made this way. Cool! (2:35)
The bit about Disney's sound design was also interesting. (3:28)

Whats so special about this to me is that im pretty sure this came as a bonus feature with the film on DVD. They just put such inspiring sound design content right there for all the kids interested to absorb. This in and of itself is art to me it may have been one of my first ever exposures to foley sounds! Kudos to the people who chose to make this.

Makes you wonder what will happen with all of Ben Burtt's knowledge when he finally passes on. How many of our modern day sound designers and techs truly understand the roots of all the sounds that have been used in the history of movies? Would any of them have the ingenuity to see sound and create it the way Ben Burtt does?

flashgamer1275 thanks so much. So many great people don't believe me but it's true I have met him many times and is a cool person in real life . I believe that Star Wars would not be Star Wars without the many iconic sounds we know an love

I absolutely agree. I'm a music Business major and appreciate the sound and music of star wars, its what pulls the mythology together and makes it iconic. Perfect editing.

I think I will add to this back in 2006 when I was at school we were watching something Star Wars related and my teacher asked for volume to be turned down or the footage paused and he explained to us his friend knew Ben Burtt and spoke to him and he told us how lightsaber sound was created by waving something against a microphone and the blaster sound was well by hitting something with a spanner. The way he said it as well gives me vibes to this day and there was huge respect there I forgot about it until recently.
