Múlagljúfur Canyon | Waterfall Hike in East Iceland

  • Múlagljúfur is a canyon in Southeast Iceland with a gorgeous waterfall at the end. It's still considered a hidden gem and is difficult to find if you don't know what you're looking for! This hike will take about 3 hours round trip but is well worth the effort for 360 views the entire time. We hiked in April 2020 and there was still some snow but overall easily accessible. We also stopped at an unmarked glacier outlet where we found icebergs floating in a lagoon. I highly suggest adding this to your south/east itinerary and if you want specific details for the hike and parking lot, etc check out my Ring Road eBook 👇🏼

    This was one of our favorite hikes when we were there in July. It was SUPER windy that day so we had some pretty big gust that made things extra adventurous at times ;) Totally worth it and would hike it again and again!

    One of the few places photographers still have to themselves. I hope it doesn’t get popular lol. It’s such a beautiful hidden gem. Can’t wait to see it in August 2022.

    I hiked this canyon recently in early April... it might have been the favourite place I saw my whole trip. It was covered in snow when I visited though, so really cool to see it in a different light... I'd love to go back again and hike it in summer in all it's greenery!

      @@mikesography7395 Hi Mike - it took us around an hour, and that was with deep snow/icy conditions and stopping to take photos, so if you went when the snow was gone you could do it in around 40 mins I reckon!

    • @IcelandwithaView
      @IcelandwithaView  Před rokem +1

      Hi Michal! In the video we started at the parking lot/trailhead at minute 2:29. The canyon view is at minute 5. It takes just over an hour to get from the trailhead to the canyon view and you can easily take 30 minutes just admiring the viewpoint, walking a little further to see from higher up and getting closer to the waterfalls. DO NOT rush this venture, it is life changing. I even have friends that have cried happy tears once they reached the viewpoint. Overall, this hike and your time at the viewpoint will take 2.5 hours.
