      T.N.O Executives at the top of big pharma maybe but don’t discount the work of the scientists in the lab who do not in fact get as big a wage as you may think. An above average wage is pretty small if it results in you saving millions of lives across the world... and even then just have some respect and gratitude for the intelligence of these people.

      @T.N.O Scientists are not being paid a half of what they are worth. They need to be paid much more, so that more intelligent and persistent people are driven towards these professions.
      The amount of work, that needs to be done to get there, obviously needs to be compensated by the highest salaries in the community (and not the financial sector management like it is now the case).

    The race for the COVID-19 vaccine is the fastest in recent years. I'm looking forward to commercially-available vaccines by the end of 2020 to early Q1 of 2021, due in part to the partnership of many nations in sequencing the virus and scheduling a solidarity clinical testing. The question though is, how expensive will the vaccine be, and how quickly can these vaccines be manufactured?

    • @JaybeePenaflor
      @JaybeePenaflor Před 4 lety +34

      @@JaybeePenaflor with the entire world and all sorts of parties and companies looking on their fingers for what they are doing I doubt it.
      maybe in the US the pharma companies have free reign because of lack of supervision but in countries with social healthcare the price of the vaccine will influence how much it will cost the country or insurance companies, meaning that they will leverage the best deal possible when they need to make it available for as low as possible to their entire population or possibly even free

    • @JaybeePenaflor
      @JaybeePenaflor Před 4 lety +12

      @@solar7427 I do hope that would be the case. The reality is that big pharmaceutical companies always take advantage of situations like these, going so far as possibly patenting the technologies behind the creation of the vaccines. Who wouldn't want to get vaccinated to be safe from the virus, right? But I do hope they set their interests aside and see the bigger picture here--that while the US leads the way in infected cases, many poorer countries have high death tolls because of the medical system and it would benefit these poorer countries if these vaccines are sold at a lower cost.

    • @JaviGis
      @JaviGis Před 4 lety +13

      It's extremely unlikely that there's enough anti vaxxers to cause an issue. Every single person in a region doesn't need immunity (from vaccine or otherwise) to shrink the R value enough to make extreme impact.
      That being said, we WILL still have to deal with antivaxxers for a multitude of reasons, but it's not stopping us from making significant and meaningful impact against COVID-19.

      @@waterunderthebridge7950 The sad thing is some people are medically unable to be vaccinated (e.g., very old or young age, other health conditions, etc.), and those are also the same people who are at the highest risk for COVID. Because of that, the anti-vaxxers aren't simply going through natural selection, they're also killing innocents

If you have to work or go outside, be extra careful and take extra measures to stay safe and healthy. Don’t be that person who thinks just because people professionals and governments are trying to help doesn’t mean you can just do anyone you want. Im also looking at you people who are against the “stay at home” order because you think you’re getting your “rights” taken away 🤦🏻‍♀️

China is rallying it's army to attack many regions it lays claim to and with its recent cyberattacks on western research facilities it's trying to hasten it's vaccine research in order to use it as a bargaining chip in order to further it's position.

Primarily, first is going to be the issue of patent and the next will be the duration of production and distribution, which in this case can be prolonged for a much longer period due to the widespread of the virus.
