    I didn't think that I would enjoy my experience with the Azorpa G1 as much as I did throughout reviewing it. I had a great time testing the monitor out in various conditions, even with some of the hiccups that I had through the different consoles that I tried out. By far, the best experience that I had with it was the Steam Deck. It just went by seamlessly and worked flawlessly. This is a monitor that I would recommend to anyone that's interested in getting a mobile gaming experience or a portable workstation monitor.

      Easily. It's not going to adjust the refresh rate of the monitor; it'll still run at 144Hz. But a docked Steam Deck at 40Hz/40fps cap should work just fine. I personally haven't tested it, but I don't see it being an issue.

    Got the G1 15” today. It’s decent monitor imo for most but not quite sure if it’s the one for me. Need something where I use wfh and Nintendo switch daily where I would need to plug/unplug and move around a lot so the usb ports not so sure how that will end up over time. One port is too loose/flimsy, while the other port tight but wiggle. No issues yet but over time I dunno. Probably a quality control thing. The case is nice but the stand is too flimsy if using outdoors (I like to unwind with switch evening outdoors after a long day at work/home office). As others have mentioned the hdr setting is garbage but standard color is decent enough for switch gaming. This monitor might be better for permanent desk/occasionally using it on the go. In conclusion this model sits at an odd middle ground for me, where I would want to spend more that meets my checklist, or to spend less for budget friendly lighter switch gaming.
    Might try out the cheaper 14” slim model or extra for a more robust portable game monitor such as better built in stand and better connections.
    For those who just need it for desk or light gaming or don’t care about hdr colors it’s a great monitor for the price. The thing for me is that it’s hard to go from the switch’s nice Oled screen to a larger non Oled monitor. Because then I would just feel like hooking up to my l2 c2 tv which would defeat the purpose. Hope this helps others deciding.

    No VESA mounts on it. I passed on it for one with that since these portable monitors look great on a VESA mount with a display for a gaming setup. I have one mounted near my desk that doubles as a Steam Deck display. I just swing it around on the VESA mount when I’m lounging and it looks great. Look for VESA mounts on portables because it makes a difference.

    i'm thinking of buying this monitor for my steam deck. but i have a question: my goal is to use the monitor alongside the dock for easy portability. so i'm wondering if i have the steam deck plugged into the power via the dock, and the screen plugged into the dock through hdmi, would i still need to power the screen via the power adapter or will it receive the power through the hdmi cable? alternatively, would using the usb c to a cable from the screen to the dock provide the power if the hdmi doesn't? i'm trying to think of utility here as i do need at least 2 of the usb slots on my dock available at all times (i take the deck to fighting game locals and need both usb slots to be available for wired controllers like mine)

    • @baldlyrudy
      @baldlyrudy  Před rokem +3

      Good question. Let's say you have the Steam Deck Docked and the AC adapter is plugged into the dock.
      If you only connect the HDMI cable to the dock, then there won't be a video signal or power going to the monitor.
      If you plug in only the USB C to A from the dock to the monitor, then you won't get a video feed.
      The only way I've seen it work is buy using both. You need to plug in both the HDMI and the USB C to A into the dock order for the monitor to work. You'll still have two USB ports available for use on the dock if you're using the Valve one. I haven't tested any other docks.
      If I know anything about fighting games, it's that they're usually locked at 60 fps, so you should be good with a 60hz monitor. That is, unless you want to go for 144hz for other games.

    • @LightBringer666
      @LightBringer666 Před rokem

      @@baldlyrudy thanks, this answered my question! i am using the official dock so that saves me trouble with any compatibility issues.
      the goal is to have the refresh rate at 60hz for fighting games as you said.
      1ms response time is primarily what i'm looking for as it's a competitive setting and we need the least amount of latency on inputs, and no visual artefacts like ghost trails from character movement.
      of course i need a portable monitor to carry with me to the meetups so that people can play with a bigger image than the deck's screen.
      higher refresh rates are honestly just a big bonus as far as i'm concerned for indie games that i play. and i intend on using it as a second screen for my laptop when i'm not using the deck.
      thanks for replying so fast, your review covered just about everything i wondered about this product, it looks like exactly what i'm looking for at a decent price range, i just need to confirm if the RT is 1ms or not.

    • @LightBringer666
      @LightBringer666 Před rokem

      actually, i have a second question since i've seen reviews that say you can connect the screen to power and then connect it to your deck/switch.
      i'm wondering if it's possible to connect the deck's charger to the screen in one of the usb c ports (C to C), connect the screen to the dock through the other (C to A), and dock the deck regularly in that contraption.
      would that provide power to the screen and the deck as it would without the dock being in the middlev like the switch does?
      if it works this way, you only use one power adapter and power both the monitor and the device, plus you might not even need the hdmi cable in this case. but i guess that depends on what the dock can do in terms of transmitting signals and charge.
      note you don't have to try this out for me if you haven't, i don't wanna risk your devices nor mine in case that causes a short circuit or something lol

    • @baldlyrudy
      @baldlyrudy  Před rokem +1

    Thanks for your video! Could you maybe help making this thing work with my specific setup? I'm wondering about how you can use the Monitor with a Docking Station (I'm using the ivoler one with 3 USB, 1 USB-c and 1 HDMI port). Is it possible to use the docking station for connecting keyboard and mouse and connecting the monitor via USB-c port, while charging the steam deck with the monitor's charger? It was said in the video that the USB-c can also give power to the deck. Just wondering if I'd need to reconfigure my whole setup

    • @baldlyrudy
      @baldlyrudy  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hey there! If I remember correctly, the cable and adapter that come with the monitor aren't strong enough to power both the monitor and provide a charge for the Steam Deck. If you want to use the Steam Deck using the iVoler dock and the monitor, then you'll have to use the adapter for the monitor.
      Now, you might be able to get enough juice from the dock itself. IIRC, you need 15w to power the monitor, so you should be fine with it being plugged right into one of the USB ports on the dock. I'd need to test that exact scenario myself to tell you for sure.

    • @jeb4373
      @jeb4373 Před 4 měsíci

      @@baldlyrudy thanks for your answer. I've done a lot of research on this problem and came to the conclusion, that I pretty surely won't be able to use the monitor as I intended. It was recommended to me to use a hub with power delivery, two USB c ports and two USB a ports instead of my docking station so I could connect the monitor and the steam deck to it while charging the whole setup. But today I saw that most of the usb c hubs don't support Video output. So my next idea is to keep using my docking station with my 1 usb c and 1 HDMI port, use the one usb c port for charging with the deck's charger and use an HDMI to Mini-HDMI to transmit video signal to the monitor. I think I'll have to charge the monitor separately as well, but this I think would be my best (and definitely most affordable) option. Do you think this is going to work out?

    • @baldlyrudy
      @baldlyrudy  Před 4 měsíci

      @jeb4373 for sure that'll work. Also, you can see if you can get a USB-A to USB-C cable and connect it straight to the dock for powering the monitor.

    • @baldlyrudy
      @baldlyrudy  Před 11 měsíci

      If you have the AC Adapter plugged into the monitor and the USB-C connected from the monitor to the Steam Deck, then you'll get a charge. But, it'll be a slow charge. I haven't tried it with the adapter that came with the Steam Deck, because I'm afraid to short circuit the monitor. 😅

      @@zoom0451 The monitor comes with a 15w AC Adapter, so off the top of my head I'd say no. It'll be a slow drain if you use the AC Adapter that came with the monitor.
      I pretty much said screw it and tried plugging in the adapter that came with the Steam Deck into the monitor and then running a USB-C cable from the monitor to the Steam Deck. The Steam Deck gets enough power through that set up to make it have a steady charge and turns out to be a net positive on charging the battery. I'm currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn, 1920x1080, ~58fps while testing this. I don't have RDR2 on Steam.

      @baldlyrudy  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Agreed, but this is a portable monitor. I'm not sure why you'd want to play on a PS5 with it; I consider the console a stationary one. The Series S is understandable. Even so, I want portability from it and not something stationary and permanent.

    As soon as he said “sponsor” I said nah. I don’t trust the review.
    Update: after I finished watching the review… I’m not sure. I feel like he’s being honest. I’m looking for a portable monitor for my switch. I have no space on my current desk setup for a new monitor, so I thought maybe a portable monitor. At least that way I can move it around & also use it for traveling. I prefer using dock mode with the pro controller & a monitor. I might just give this a try.

      @baldlyrudy  Před rokem

      Yeah. I get where you're coming from with the "sponsored" bit.
      I travel a lot for work, so having something like this works for me, personally. It's pretty solid for the Switch, but I noticed something after posting the video that I should mention here.
      The resolution when the Switch is connected directly to the monitor seems to be 720p. When I plug in the Switch while docked, it looks like 1080p. That might be a deal breaker for some. Lugging around a Switch dock sucks when traveling, IMO.

    I'd never even bother to bring a monitor if I travel. The handhelds already come with a screen which is more than enough. Steam deck can't even play most modern games (aside from indies) above 40fps anyway so 144hz monitor for it is pretty much a waste of money

    • @baldlyrudy
      @baldlyrudy  Před rokem +1

      It very well could be a waste of money for you. I normally travel for weeks at a time for work. For me, it's versatility. I'd have a second monitor for work as well as a gaming monitor for my SD or Switch.
      Being able to have a better gaming experience on the go is awesome for me. I've been playing more indie and AA titles lately. The Steam Deck doesn't have any issues hitting 144 fps on any of those. I personally don't care to play big AAA on the SD.
