An iconic, solid classic piece of pop music history,at least here in Europe. This time it's the other Abba girl on the lead,Frida.

You'll notice that a common theme in Abba music is a happy melody with deceptively dark lyrics. The important thing is not to assume that a song is happy just because of the tune. For example, If it Wasn't For the Nights is super up tempo and catchy but it's actually Bjorn writing about how hard it was to get through the nights after his break-up with Agnetha.

This one is in top 5 for me in the fantastic ABBA-list. Even higher up for me - ”The Name Of The Game” - I think you’d like aswell! More groovy, romantic and maybe the most complex song in their catalog. Just art and brilliant! ❤

The rock elements in the music, the lyrics, the entire band singing harmonies, the choreography in the video, and the spoken word/dream sequence... so much to love. Peak ABBA!

  • @alejandrosantanaborquez917

This is my favorite song of them 👌!
That guitar riff stuck in my head during my childhood. I'm 51 now.
    I love that song 😍.
    Great react, by the way...
Try 'SOS' or 'Money money money'
    Take care...
    Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍

You might as well let the ladies take turn leading vocals. So next reaction check out SOS (with Agnetha), and then follow that with Fernando (with Frida). You'll love them both!

A masterpiece, love the depth of Frida's verses and the harmonies of both women. Try out 'The Name of the Game' as well, you're gonna love it.

I like your enthusiasm about ABBA, they were my favourite group as a child and now I think as popular as they were and still are, the most underrated group in history.

You know, ABBA has some 19 world-wide hits. There are three of their hits you've not reacted to that showcase Agnetha's vocals; "Happy New Year", "Thank You For The Music", & "The Winner Takes It All". "The Winner Takes It All" is especially heart wrenching when you realize Bjorn wrote the lyrics for Agnetha to sing, and the song is about their divorce.

  • @Vikinggirl1679

Great reaction great song. Not sure how much you know about them. They were two married couples from Sweden. Bjorn the guitar player married Agnetha the blonde girl and Benny the pianist withe beard married Anni-Frid aka Frida the red head girl. Thats where the name ABBA comes from
    Agnetha
    Bjorn
    Benny
    Anni-Frid
The men wrote and composed all their songs and yes were masters at creating a hook. They also played many instruments. The girls , well no one harmoni,Ed like Agne and Frida. They both had strong good voices on their own especially Frida who was trained in opera and jazz. They took turns on lead vocals. Try Fernando, one man one woman, sos, Mama mia

Yesterday I found a statistics from May 2024 (therefore very current) about the most played ABBA songs within the 21st century in UK radio and TV. First place is - of course - Dancing Queen, second one is Knowing Me, Knowing You and third one is Mamma Mia.

ABBA were the only group recording music in the way they did, all of their song are immaculately produced, even their backing vovals are as brilliant as the main vocal, I was around when all of their musical was originally released, and the two girls caused a sensation with their looks snd voices.

ABBA ( Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, Anni-Frid “ Frida “) is a band from Sweden who were initially active from 1972-1982. The Name comes from the 4 members initials. They were 2 married couples but both marriages ended in divorce in the late 70’s / early 80’s. Their big break came from winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with Waterloo. Benny wrote the music and Bjorn wrote the lyrics, Agnetha and Frida share lead lead vocals but the magic happens when they sing together “The 3rd Voice of ABBA”. They have sold over 400 million albums worldwide. Their music is the bases for the musical Mamma Mia and the 2 films Mamma Mia ! (2008) and Mamma Mia Here we go again (2018). They were approached a few years ago to put on new concerts using digital versions of themselves as they were in the 1970’s and as a result of this they decided to record a couple of new songs to be performed as well as their older hits. They enjoyed recording them so much that they decided to do a new album called Voyage which was released on 5th Nov 2021 almost 40 years after their last Album The Visitors and has sold over 2.5 million so far. I suggest you listen to the Greatest Hits Album entitled ABBA GOLD which was 1st album to spend 1,000 weeks on the UK charts enjoying 3 spells at number 1 (1992, 1999 & 2008) and today it is still in the charts at number 11 (week 1148) but also listen to their Album songs and b sides because they contain many a hidden gems many that could have been singles.

Actually, a solid follow-up to this would be one of their most recent from 2021 and that is Don't Shut Me Down. It bookends this one in mood perfectly and also showcases how their voices are now. The intro is by Agnetha. She is in her seventies now, but you can really cannot credit that she is. I sincerely hope that the lyric video would be your next, because there is no visual distraction of seeing the band, it really enhances the story she is telling because it plays in your imagination and it is brilliant!

Chiquitita is the first ABBA song I remember hearing on the radio as a kid and even then I knew I was hearing something different from the usual music. Still my favorite song of theirs although The Winner Takes It All runs it close

If you want to try an ABBA rock song with great guitar solos please react to 'Eagle'. But make ABSOLUTELY sure that you listen to the long album version that lasts almost 6 minutes. Otherwise you will miss the guitar parts. The best video is the one from the user 'WeisseKatze1965'.
