- Here's my next P5 cover! Atropos really caught my attention because of the beautiful melodies. The screams on this one really challenged me; I've also never done a spoken/rap part in a song, so... that was a first! Like my covers of Dying Star and Wax Wings, I used the Periphery V: Djent Is Not a Genre stem pack! All vocals are me :)

Wow, I just saw this and the Dying Star cover and I'm probably more impressed than I was after your Wax Wings video. You may still have plenty of room to improve for all I know (since I have no vocal background whatsoever), but you sound like exactly what I think a female replacement for Spencer would have to sound like to work with Periphery's sound. Everything you did with your voice and the harmonies is like...genius level. Keep it up, you're special.

Itâs cause whenever something hurts I stop doing it đ I pretty much refused any kind of screaming technique technique that resulted in pain. False cord is so uncomfortable, itâs hard to learn đ

@@kaylenebarber Your screams sound a lot like Spencer's specifically during the periphery 1/first EP era, which is supposedly before he really reined in his vocal chops so if its any consolation I think that means you're on the right track! The cleans are already there and then some, seriously impressive stuff, I just discovered your channel and it was the easiest sub of my life. Hope to see you jumping all over the discography! Edit: also more Destiny potato or Aleksandra's other project "Sordid pink" would be sick.

i like this a significant amnt more than the wax wings interpretation, nice job :D
i will say i rly think that you can make the vocal harmonies more subtle- i think they work so well in peripherys soundscape because they are there, but theyre not drowning out the main vocal line by any means. i think if you put them more into the mix then you would get a muchmore natural and overwhelming to the ears result., i know you dont have the individual tracks and cant mix it in as well as periphery did, but just something to think about
also once again the autotuned vocals/harmonies are really hard to listen to ^^' i would MUCH rather hear a slightly out of tune but raw vocal take (even if its made clean with edits, just no autotune) than everything being perfectly autotuned together.. autotune is a musical tool, but not a solution to apply everywhere for better results. especially when periphery doesnt have the extent that you apply in your covers, it feels like it takes away from the mission of the music D:

Unsure if youâre being funny or serious, but regardless, that is an amazing compliment! The singer of Destiny Potato is Aleksandra Djelmas and I absolutely love her voice! đ„°
Open up your screams a little more and you'll easily tackle stuff like Wildfire :) Don't get me wrong - the screams are good in technique, they only seem too shy and "muffled". Take a look at Andy Cizek for example when he does one-shots and you'll get it without any problems.
I just went and checked out his one-shot that he just did an hour ago! Holy shit, super impressive!
BTW, my covers are not one-shots. Iâm not sure if you thought mine was, but I wanted to clarify just in case. If I ever did a one-shot, Iâd put it in the title! Iâd like to someday, but itâd probably be something original that Iâve rehearsed for months.
Iâm very much a beginner screamer, and I appreciate that you think my technique is good! At this point in time, Iâm 100% technique-focused on screams. When I try to lean in with more âemotionâ, my sound gets squeaky and stops đ„Ž I wasnât aware until recently that the art of screaming isnât just picking between fry and false cord, but a lot of times itâs blending the two depending on what fits the lyrics/emotions. Iâm using pure fry here and in Wax Wings! (Except at 3:16.. I attempted false lol) False cord is a sensation I havenât gotten down, and I donât think Iâll be able to get more âgainâ and escape the âshyâ sound until I develop more false cord control and am able to incorporate some false cord over my fry.
Iâve been singing for 16 years, and I sucked when I started. But I was suuuper dedicated. Iâve been on-and-off learning screaming for the last 5 years, and only seriously worked on it for a total of about 1.5 years. A big part of why Iâm doing some of these covers is to motivate myself to work on my screams. Thanks for being here, and for believing in me đ

There also should be an older video of his where he explains fry screams, e.g. why he opens his mouth so wide - this should be useful to you :) Keep on going though, you're doing a great job!
PS. Of course I never thought your videos were one-shot, even Spencer wouldn't be able to do all these transitions like that :)
