He's phenomenal: Personality, Beauty, Talent, and retired while in good health to spend more time as horse, with his friends and humans. Bless Carl Hester and Charlotte for giving him a wonderful retirement.
As a competitor and athlete, this gorgeous boy was to dressage what Secretariat was to horse racing.

I just noticed all these replies about Secretariet. I'm amazed 👏 at least he's not forgotten, and he is still noticed as an amazing horse as Velegro is, too! They're Special in their own right!
Secretariat is king, always will be! Velegro is just a sweety, king of dressage, and is about the only dressage horse I do watch, because I know he is well taken care of to this day.
Nice to see a competition horse getting a proper and well deserved retirement. It's rare.
NO! All top Horses gets a farewell show for The Fans and Nice pension on the country side. We have 3 old dressage Horses here. German and Dutch Horses as well.
That's not true. In my hunter/jumper circle most all these horses are valued after their show careers as school masters. They teach the next batch of riders and are highly valued for what they do. In fact, it is very difficult for someone to buy them off the trainers because they are precious. And these school masters are well treated with easy schedules. It is much better for them than being turned out and forgotten. They like the routine in their lives.

i so love that they include children to meet in person quality equine and learn essential things about the importance of horsemanship. children rock and they need the hands on experience for the mind to click the on switch and continue the cause. I personally believe that horses shouldn't be just for the wealthy rich. Children who are serious about being involved should not be denied these things. It makes all the difference in the quality of life for everyone.

This horse reminds me so much of my own horse, the same round rib cage, love of food, interest in people, bright spark in very kind eyes. He knows he is loved, particularly by Alan who hasnt taken from him.

He's a special man! He's at the top like Secretariat, he was a magnificent horse 🐎 too. He will always ❤️ ♥️ 💖 have a place in my heart and I imagine many people in the world 🌎 💙 ❤️

How many hands high is “Blueberry?” I’ve seen many videos of him in competition. But the first seeing him standing with people. I think he’s a lot taller than I thought.

Valegro was to Dressage what Redrum was to racing NH two horses with the biggest hearts and loved by all Brits
Valegro is a beautiful horse and was a legend in the dressage field, but I don't think he or Charlotte will get the publicity or reputation they deserve, If I knew how to do it I would start a petition to get Charlotte and Valegro remembered forever, a statue of some sort. I still think Charlotte was hard done by when she didn't get the damehood the year Laura Kenny got it. After all other than Laura Charlotte was the most decorated British female Olympian.

I used to think dressage was a sport for snobs, then came the London Olympics and Charlotte. It converted me on the spot. I have loved show jumping for years but never appreciated the skills needed by a dressage rider

They make them go to dover saddlery look up English bridles they have some normal ones for around $40

He ain't a cow horse, he's not in Texas and he's being shown off. Any hunter in-hand or dressage in-hand is always shown in a bridle. Please notice the loose reins - the horse is basically guiding the handler.😊😊😊

Valegro will be 22 years old on 06/07/24. He’s had a truly wonderful life & now enjoys a very happy and well deserved retirement❤❤.

He didn't start dressage at 1yr old! He goes out in the fields, has his mates, goes on hacks around the lanes etc, etc, he's never been tortured because these people know how to look after horses and animals.....
You clearly haven't followed his history.
He wasn't tortured. He belongs to a good stable, and is retired now.
Yes he seem lame how sad 20 years of dressage is too much I don’t believe horses enjoy dressage looks like it’s painful having their heads pulled in seems cruel

Poor Valegro. 21 years old and obviously lame they think covering him with a blanket is going to hide that. I feel so sad for these horses, show, jumping, rodeos, etc. people get to show off and look cool at the expense of the animals.

@@juliedobson3039 I had horses for many many years. Can tell by his gate in his hind quarters when he walks, therefore the blanket. How many beautiful showhorses do you see in a ring with blankets on. Especially since he’s there for a special appearance. Also, did you see how high up his legs were wrapped? I would make a wager that he was on some pretty strong painkillers to get through that.
Oh stop it Valegro is not lame and yes before anyone calls me out I am very experienced with horses having owned my own and worked a life time with this magnificent horse is simply wrapped in cotton wool and very well cared for

@@sandy99922because he's 22... He's not going to move like he was when he was 10. Is it surprising to you that an older horse would have stiffness or more limited motion? Also did you not notice how warmly everyone is dressed and the hot air coming from his breathing? He doesn't look to be in winter coat which is probably why he's rugged.
Of course this horse will not cuddle you. He was abused for nearly two decades!
