- I was fortunate enough to have a Tubax on loan for a concert and thought it was only right to put it through its paces!
The piece is Double or Quits from Three Miniatures by Alastair Penman, available for clarinet or saxophone duet.

I love how much bigger the tubax player is then the sopranino player
He’s sitting forward on the arm of the couch😂

Sounds like what would play in a desert town in a video game. I would jam to it
The tubax sound is unreal, definitely wasnt expecting that
Edit: I was watching in 0.75x so it sounded weird but it’s even better normal speed
CZcams doesn't even try pitch correction on the tubax in different speeds that's funny
anyone who hasn’t forgotten to normalise playback speed is not a real musician. ☝️😌😌
damn i honestly did not expect it to sound this amazing!
took me a second to realize It was only one person playing
As a Bari sax I totally wanna play these two
Same bro
The Tubax made my day
The sopranino made my day
Sax made our day
Love it when the Tubax goes ABSOLUTELY HAM. Amazing
Why it’s sounds like a video game😂I love it❤️😊
Lots of fun.
You sound very good on the 'nino - no evidence of the intonation problems typically associated with the small horn. What type do you have?
Thanks! The tubax is an awesome instrument to play and an incredible machine. I'm playing a Yanagisawa Sopranino (SN-981). I do find that it goes sharp once you get above A in the upper octave (where the octave vent changes), so it's hard work to keep the pitch under control. I've found the same issue on every sopranino I've ever played though, and this one is better than most. I think if I played it more I would just get used to the voicing so it wouldn't feel such hard work! I'm glad it comes over as in tune though 🙂
That tubax or contrabass sex is going crazy i LOVE IT LOOOL
I love how the tubx just start shredding
These should have been used in the cantina scene in Star Wars.
THIS IS FIRE BRO 🔥🔥🔥
You sound really cool
jeez i love this .. i am a bass player .. so i relate to those frequencies ...
strings or sax?
Saxophone boss music.
this song is great
Bravo 😊
Great. I love it.
very nicely done!
That was so cool, ... and well played!
Sounds like video game boss music
I wonder how many tiny ones would fit inside the giant one
Lots!!
Now play it with a Bb subcontrabass and a soprillo for more contrast.
If you lend me those instruments I'll happily oblige! ;)
@@alastairpenman I only have the Soprillo myself. My subcontrabass sax would consist of playing a tenor sax two octaves down with a guitar pedal. Here is an example of a bari sax down 1,2,and 3 octaves: czcams.com/video/TYF0kZ__kRY/video.html 🎙🎷
@@enoffz8021 It's all about that bass!
Actually a pure Eppelsheim duet would be awesome Soprillo/Tubax.
a Bb Tubax could work for the subcontrabass too
This is so freaking cool!
What a badass
Hey i was wondering what is the best way to record while playing im trying to make videos on my plaing (i play tenor saxophone)
It depends what equipment you have available. Ideally you'd use a good microphone connected to an audio interface + computer to capture the sound, then sync it with video from a camera (or even phone cameras are pretty good.) For this video the sound was recorded using an AKG C414 connected to a Focusrite Scarlett interface and then mixed in Logic Pro! (Even much cheaper USB microphones will be a big sound improvement over a phones built in microphone.)
Muy bien
Nice
caravan inspired bass?
OMG ❤❤❤
Why does this sound like something from Super Mario RPG?
that bass line on the tubax sound familiar
This reminds me of tiger of San Pedro bc of the bass line
The tubax can probably cause an earthquake is you accidentally play a little bit too loudly.
Mo compro uma maquina dessas
Bro, your twin is so huge! What does he eat?
We're both vegan, so eat a lot of beans, but I think he might eat magic beans 😉
2x speed is so good

what brand sop is that? im looking for one rn thats under 1k lol
Hi, it's a Yanagisawa (it's a sopranino, not a soprano). You'll struggle to find much for under £1000 - something like this Windcraft might be your best bet www.dawkes.co.uk/windcraft-wss-200-soprano-sax-saxophone/15902 (For a Sopranino I think the John Packer would be your only option in that price range - www.johnpacker.co.uk/prod/jp146-atom-sopranino-saxophone-eb-in-rose-brass)
@@alastairpenman ive been looking at the wessex sopranino, its 600 or 630 USD, do you knos if wessex is a decent brand
@@therealmcdonalds1 I'm afraid I've not come across Wessex saxophones before!
@@alastairpenman another question, ive been having serious intonation problems with a selmer concept mouthpiece on my new series iii jubilee alto. would a soloist or s90 be better for me, do you think? i played a yamaha custom stock mouthpiece and the tuning was fine. i need to try a s80 with it.
@@therealmcdonalds1 I'm surprised a Serie III with a concept is giving you tuning issues - might be worth taking the sax to a repair tech to check everything is sealing properly. The Soloist and S90 won't significantly alter the tuning compared with a Concept. They shouldn't be much different to a Yamaha mouthpiece intonation wise either though..!

im just saying. whoever composed mean girls the musical took a bit of inspiration from this piece. Especially that base line (see “Who’s house is this?” Around 0.50 seconds)
wich one is the 👦🏻 and wich one is the 🧔🏻
should have been a sopranico instead imo
The tubax sounds like a quirky teenager blasting their music in their car.
