- Justin Hodges' tackle on Robbie Farah was a hot talking point in the days that followed State Of Origin 1, 2015. Hodges escaped punishment and Farah played in Origin 2. Qld won this match 11-10 at ANZ Stadium, Sydney.

The tackle was far from perfect, send off offense? Hell no, Sin Bin? I'd call the ref soft. Penalty? Maybe, the reason I say this, is it looks more like a shitty german suplex than it does a tackle. If you're allowed to use wrestling prowess, how come no-one's been saito suplexed? Right, because that would be classed as a "Spear tackle" and that one can get you sent off and looking at 1-5 weeks on the sideline, Not saying Hodges was a spear tackle, it came close, but the better option would've been to reposition his arm around the waist and drive back, from the side that gives Farah no chance to catch his balance and the Blues lose 4-10 meters

It's a bad tackle, probably worthy of a penalty, but nothing more than that, IMO.

Head high tackle. At first I didn't think there was anything wrong but Hodges had his arm up around the neck/head area the whole time increasing the force of the tackle. I mean when it's such bad technique it injures someone, I think you have to penalize such a poor tackle.
Its a legal tackle,. So it can't be a penalty.
@@stooge88, no his arm is around the shoulder and holding the ball against Robbie's chest,a legit tackle nothing wrong with it at all.Robbie also looses the ball on impact but the cheating ref denied it.
You can't make things up. Hodge's arm isn't holding the ball against Robbies chest. It's very clearly draped across his shoulder and around the neck region.
Not only that, last year Inglis' tackle on Maloney was penalized which was a similar style of slamming/slinging and opponent into the ground.
Hodges always a thug and cheap shop champion.
