  • This video explains 4 ways you can setup a DPA 4017C microphone on a RAD-2 Shock Mount for indoor and outdoor use.
Whilst the setups shown in this video are how we would suggest trying out, there are actually no "right or wrong" ways to setup the RAD-2 mounts with the DPA 4017C. The RAD-2 comes with 3 pairs of hoops -- soft, standard and extra firm. You may find a way of placing the different firmness hoops in different positions that works better for your particular recording situation.
The RAD shock mounts can be used with boom poles, stands or quick release tips with 3/8 inch threads. For wind protection for the DPA 4017C, we make the Radius 12cm Shotgun Mic Foam and 12cm Nimbus Slide-On Windshield.
We'd like to give a huge THANK YOU to ‪@DPAmicrophones‬ for loaning us microphones for this video.
For more information on our shock mounts and wind protection, please visit radiuswindshields.com or check with your local audio reseller.

This is excellent, very informative and detailed, thank you! Would love to see a future video on the setup options for a Sanken CS3E & Nimbus/Spacer Bubble.

@@elanlafontaine4406 thank you so much! We are indeed planning on making a video with the Sanken CS3E! We’ve got the DPA 2017 and a couple others first, but we will 100% be doing the Sanken soon 😊

Could you do another video like this but for the 416 please?

Just curious as to why the clips should be attached in the opposite direction.
In doing your R&D, was it noticeably quieter with that configuration?
    Thanks. - Paul -

Hey Paul ☺ The direction of the clips don't affect the performance of the mount in terms of being quieter. It is purely a way of getting them closer together - without them touching each other and causing noise.
So for shorter mics with very little mic body behind the capsule, reversing the clips helps get them very close together

@@RadiusWindshields Ah! I see. Makes sense. Thank you. By the way, the design of these new RAD-2 shock mounts is just incredible. I love mine. REALLY well thought out. Truly a great piece of gear. Well done!
