All your videos are excellent. I watch and like all of them. I used the kit on my truck and had the same results . Thank you
I bought used 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 46,000 miles about a year ago and immediately deleted the afm and installed the transmission cooler bypass as well as changed all fluids front to rear! Hopefully I'll get many a mile before any serious issues! My transmission temp is almost always at 145 after the fact and the highest I've ever seen since is 170 but goes back down after climbing a hill while towing
The transmission sends fluid first to the cooler in the radiator, so the coolant runs at 195 degree, the second cooler is not sufficient to help.
On my truck I eliminated my lines to the radiator, I now use 2 external coolers with fan's, the sensor I use turns the fan's on at 180 off at 165, I also have it wired to my A/C. When my account clutch engages the fan's come on. 93 degrees day my 6L90 has never gone over 165 degrees
I did this on my 2020 Ram 3500 6.7, i hit 132 with empty trailer, loaded with 30k lbs same to 155. Highly recommend.
I have the misimoto kit with the bigger trans cooler. I average 150 in west Texas with a large cam. This is a must do modification.
where did you get it?
If you live in a heavy salt state like I do in NY. It can be VERY hard to get the clip out. Buy some CLR and let it sit on top of the housing after you take it off. It worked AMAZING for me.
This is a must do upgrade, The manufactures only want higher temps for epa emission testing, people always argue "Ford says they are fine to run at 210" ya well Ford also says do not change fluid unti 150k miles
I did the pill flip on mine, went from high 190's to not over 150 on the highway. 170's in town.
I have another video on why I dont like to flip the pill please check it out
Does this also affect the Tahoe? I have a 2018 Tahoe, no issues but was thinking of using the Superior brand version kit if this will work for the Tahoe.
i put the 50 doller one off ebay with the ball bearing in it cant think of the name of it but most people recomended it. easy instal took it out abot 25 miles temp today was 85 the temp got up to 150 i dont know what it will do on the hwy i was on the back roads of tn lots of hills never got over 55 but big inprovement.
Have you done the 2022 10 speeds yet?
I live in ny..winters get pretty cold how can this not make it run too cold in harsh winters? I feel like it’d make it so it’d never get close to a somewhat good temp. Please advise. Have a 15 Silverado. Average temp is 185
30° shave off is great 😎🤙🏻
Is it supposed to drop your temps while youre at a red light on stuck in traffic? Mine seems to run hotter now after i changed the filter. Maybe bent one of the cooler lines?
I put the transmission cooler delete on a 2021 Chevy Silverado and I live in Cincinnati Ohio and it got down into single digits and I just let it warm up every morning and it was fine
During the summer and hits about 145 from a cold
Start
2014 all the way up to current you should do it
I had a video made when it was 17 below zero and my video got destroyed but yes it took less then 10 minutes to get the transmission up to 60 degrees with the delete installed I couldn't ask for it to work any better besides what people don't understand is from 2008 to 2013 this same transmission without a transmission thermostat had a lot less problems with the same torque converter
Mine must already have the bypass delete. My 2016 2500hd stays around 145 always on the highway. Even towing 12000 on a 90* day.
Ive seen 170ish sitting in stop and go traffic before and thats about it.
I can drive for a hour and can't hardly get my 6l80 transmission to 120 degrees. I want to conduct a relearn because I have no codes but I get a flare if I'm going very slow and the truck is cold. No problems if I accelerated quickly or if the truck is warm.
the exhaust pipe 2 inches under the pan is a big problem iam thinking about putting some one inch thick chimney insulation arond that pipe its rated to 2500 degres just working on how to atach it .maybe some refactory cement.
With the delete and a tune I never get above 150, deleted AFM and changed the lockup from 14 mph to 25mph. No 4cyl bullshit all this was done because my 6L80e ate shit right at the same miles as this dudes truck
Would that help my 2020 Silverado 2500hd with l8t gas and six speed transmission? Thanks
I was always at 194 and last sunday it blew up. I rebuilt the transmission and also installed a thermostat kit and finished last night. My temp never got above 133 coming home last night. Its like 40 degrees outside so I expect it will eventually get hotter as ambient temps rise.
I have a 2015, 2500 Silverado 6L90 transmission I’ve never ever seen it rarely over 150 151° and that was on a 95, 100° day most of the time it’s between 128 and 131°
Is that bad for the truck? That’s what’s mine at on my 1500
Has anyone found that using trans fluid like valvoline or a/c delco any better to keep trans cooler,or amsoil?
How do you do a cooler delete
Thanks, for the video. The GM design has the exhaust right up against the trans pan, this is a poor design. I’ve had one of these kits (not this particular one) put in and still get up to 250 degrees when pushing the truck up elevation. I would love to get this fix for good…
the 2016 chevy torgue converter are bad get a billet converter
Well I had bought a 2016 suburban with 84000 miles from a dealer had the transmission fluid and filter changed immediately. I had seen the transmission issues being posted. I do drive quite a bit of 3-6 hr trips in general and this new truck I noticed the transmission temp go to 194 in 30 degrees temperature and seen your video and immediately did the switch and temps dropped while on hwy to 120.
But oddly enough today I did a 5 hr ride on pkwy and had got stuck in traffic halfway through and sat in car for 39 minutes and tranny temp went right up to 182 before traffic eased up and got to highway speeds.
Now todays temps were 50 when driving
This does worry me when temps get higher and I do drive this
Ever. With new stat
Hey, I just installed this on my 2019 suburban. Had it installed for about 3 days now. The first day was great, temps dropped down to 150-160ish and about 140 on the freeway. But yesterday I noticed it was getting back up to 190 on the street and about 165 on the freeway. Do you think that’s normal this this part installed or should it be way lower?
Transmission failure starts to happen at around 240 degrees F so you have to realize that your cooler is running through your engine coolant which should be around 210 degrees so if your transmission doesnt go above the 210 for long periods of time then you should be just fine the thermostat that you deleted holds the transmission at 195 degrees and never allows it to cool down and that destroys your fluid
Man my 2023 Chevy Colorado transmission temp is 205
I ordered one off amazon be putting in asap
Buyhj jyjj😅i
so let me respond to the part about subzero weather in the video… I have this installed in my truck 2014.. no issues no complaints. It works fine. if it’s 30 or 40° out and I’m cruising on the highway I might hit 150 but usually in the 140s… OK probably fine with that.. as I go into Northern Maine, if it’s -10 or even zero outside my temperature runs about 100 to 115° degrees. The outside temperature seems to dictate a lot of how the surecool works in my truck. if I travel at lower speeds, it warms up a bit if I go faster it cools down. but outside Temperature plays a huge part.
It’s a great product it does what it says for the most part. I’m just not sure if I like my transmission running at 100° when it’s subzero sometimes it doesn’t even hit 90 if it’s below zero. Unless somebody can tell me that it doesn’t matter.
Mine does the same. past 3 winters mine will get up to 90 or 113. about a 15 minute drive to work. stop and go traffic.
@@carbonsteelbladetheorigina7993 so you’ve been running it for three years at least. And no issues right with it running “too cold”.
@fishman80 None at all. trans temp in the morning are 40 or 50 at startup. I give it about 5 minutes and I'm gone.
@@carbonsteelbladetheorigina7993 awesome thanks. we pretty much get all four seasons here so I’m pretty familiar with the temperatures you get versus the ambient temperature outside. so it’s good to know about the cold temperatures where you live and experience you havent had problems. I got a 2014 so just trying to prolong that six speed lol
That temp reading on the gauge is calculated, that’s not a sensor reading. The sensor in the TCM is for the TCM’s protection and does not report to the IPC
my temperature on my 2017 Silverado goes to about 150-151 but that’s it
@ what temperature does condensation evaporate out of your fluid ??????????
Might as well install an ice box and heat exchanger guys you need the fluid to get hot enough to get the water out of it. Same with motor oil you don't want to see what oil does to an engine that's kept to cool.
My 14 Silverado got to 198 and the longer I drove it the hotter it got. It got hotter after getting off the expressway. I have seen it climb to 214 and a long time to cool down.
I have a 20017 Silverado z71 crew cab and I just installed a week ago a new rebuild transmission 6L80 with a lot of billet parts and billet converter all the updates from Sonnax. And still I had to take it back and replace the new defective oil pump it was making loud noises in the 4-5-6 gears and overheating up to 210+. I just got it back noise is gone thats good news but the bad still overheating i have the same problem keeps going up to 214 hot and I’m not even pulling anything yet. and it will probably go higher but i don’t let it. I have to stop and pull over let it cool down before driving it again. I just order the mishimoto trans coolant kit. I have a bypass already installed and still gets hot. So I’m gonna install it this weekend we’ll see if it helps. I’ll update once is completed and tested.
@@arkangel2351Damn are you a time traveler?
I put the bypass on mine and it's still running hot, any ideas? Before anyone asks, yes it is installed correctly, hard to mess that up. Thanks in advance
I have 16 and want to do the same. But have a question for you. My fans stay running while driving I changed my temp sensor and thermostat and they still run Any answer
if your cooling fans are running it may be because your air conditioner is on the electronic cooling fans are designed to run with the AC on for your condenser as well as your engine I hope this helps
I have a 2016 2500. The temp never gets that high unless I have been towing my camper for a couple of hours in 95 degree heat.
Edit... I actually just heard about this "upgrade" from a guy I know. I wanted to monitor my temps on 4 hours trip. The temp never went over 125 degrees without towing in 20 to 30 degree winter weather. I will continue to observe.
2500 HD did not come equipped with a thermostat for some reason, I have not done any that has had a thermostat
do you still prefer the sure cool?
I have not seen any difference in the sure cool or the delete only in PRICE
Looks like your converter is going out
My 2007 Suburban hit 226 over a pass and 190 pulling a 4000 lb trailer in the winter on a 3000 mile trip, have i damaged the Transmission?
Probably not.
Next, please do a video of the install of this part That would be great
I don’t understand why he didn’t show that in the first place
The link to the Transgo kit is in the description. The scope of this video, I believe, is the before and after comparison. I'd imagine there's other videos out there on how to install it.
Scroll down another video and he does have instructions
It’s super easy 2 bolts
GM has an update for this: TSB is 21-NA-199 new TCV opens at 158 degrees and takes less than 15 minutes to swap it. Part is $58. Better than some silly "delete".
why would I install a part that could go bad when i can install a part that will never go bad, convenient for GM to possibly sell a million of these and make another 58 million dollars off the consumer no thanks i will stick with my cheap delete
@@codemansauto208 A bad thermostat was one of my concerns. Why run the risk. My truck runs 130 to 145 approximately. Backing a camper into a stal, raises the temp really quick.
Mine keeps getting hot slowly and I’ve reached 250 which is extremely bad. If this bypass only drops 20 degrees, will the even work for me?
if your thermostat is going bad then it is going to drop it a lot more then 20 degrees hope this helps
Dude my fucking 6l80 hit 227°f climbing a mountain yesterday unloaded and I wasn’t even going fast. I pulled over and shut it off this is a 2019 this is some bs lol
I have a 2011 Chevy Tahoe transmission overheating 190 to 200 any answer
sometimes when the converters start to fail they can cause the transmission to overheat and just to let you know if you change your converter you should back flush from top to bottom on your transmission cooler inside the radiator these tend to stop up and reduce the fluid flow
Will this work if you have the 4.3 V6 engine?......I've read that it won't help with the V6 engine.
no it wont, sorry for the late reply
yes it will. the trans are the same@@codemansauto208
@@codemansauto208whats a good way to get somewhat lower temps?
150k tahoe. Pulling landscaping trailer 11 months. No mod. Looked down 275 degrees. Whoops
I want my fluid to run 190* Its just me
Please let me know if you ever have transmission failure, I would like to know thank you
The gm tsb. Was issued specifically to avoid 195. Why would you want to run hot? Tsb was to correct a failure. The delete is better. As t-Stat is a fail point.
195? Mine gets 220 before i pull over and let it cool off
That is way to hot and needs to be repaired pretty soon or could cause damage to the transmission
My trans felt like the torque converter was slipping checked my temp and it hit 210°f!!!! 😡 man this truck is a 2019! Has 75k miles, my 2004 ford f150 4.6l has had less problems in 20 years and 265k miles than this pos Chevy Silverado has had in 4 years…
@@codemansauto208 already been completely rebuilt once
