  • Best clicker press? My review of the Master Tools Mighty Wonder, Weavers 8-ton clicker press. I purchased this a few weeks ago and have been using it for a bit now. I'm not sponsored in any way. I just wanted to give some honest feedback. One thing I forgot to mention in the video was that the customer service was really good. I also took the opportunity to work on my cinematography skills a bit. I hope you like it.

I loooove my Weaver 8 ton clicker press!! I had a different brand 4 ton clicker press previously, but I was unable to use it, it didn't have enough leverage to cut through any weight of leather. When I bought the Weaver press it was a game changer!!

FYI the tonnage of the press is determined by the mechanical advantage of the cam. Not the working area nor the size of the die.
therefore it should be noted that the same pressure on the handle will equal greater cutting force on a smaller die. Think surface area. so if a large die take X amount of handle pressure to get through the leather then a smaller die on the same piece of leather will take far less force.

Good point. With this one theirs an oblong part at the fulcrum. The handle also only goes so far. With minimal effort you can pull the handle down to the stopping point. Your only option to increase the pressure by applying more force on the handle would be to crank the plate lower until it doesn't allow you to pull past the oblong pivot point. However, with that done the die's would be crammed into the cutting mat way to deep. I believe with the mechanical advantage this one has it's not so cut and dry. What do you think?

Do you think the press is strong enough to cut through 1/16" ABS plastic ?

It should, yes. I would talk to your supplier first to make sure. One thing to note is that its not water proof, just water resistant.
