Formed in 1999, Zornik is a Belgian rock band that quickly gained fame after participating in HUMO's Rock Rally. The original members included Koen Buyse (singer/guitarist), Marijn Horemans (drummer), and Kristof Vanduren (bass guitarist). Their early music, including EPs like "Love Affair" and "It's so unreal," dominated Belgium's alternative charts and garnered significant attention. Their first major breakthrough came with the debut album, "The Place Where You Will Find Us," which hit the number one spot on the Belgian charts in 2002.
After a lineup change that saw Marijn Horemans replaced by Davy Deckmijn and later Kristof Vanduren by Bas (Millionaire) and Bart Van Lierde, the band experimented with their sound in albums like "One-Armed Bandit" (2004) and embraced acoustic styles with "Alien Sweetheart" (2005). Their dynamic performances at major festivals and venues, including a notable show at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp in 2007, underscored their status as a leading rock group in Belgium.
Zornik's influence and popularity continued with the release of "4.000.000 Minutes of Zornik," a best-of collection that made a significant impact. Their latest work, "Blinded By The Diamonds" (2015), showcases their enduring appeal. Marking their 20th anniversary, the band performed their top 20 singles across major venues and festivals, demonstrating their lasting connection with fans and their significant place in the Belgian music scene.
