To clarify on the San Fran robots situation, the legislation specifically allowed for, as a last possible resort when there are no other alternatives to putting law enforcement officers in extreme danger (like walking down a hallway to a barricaded suspect), they could use a remote controlled bomb disposal robot equipped with a shotgun or explosive to neutralise the suspect. They are not autonomous, and would need a high ranking officer to sign off on their use. Literally no-one was thinking it would be a good idea to make AI robots and arm them.
