    One thing I learned about growing a handlebar mustache is if you have a walrus, you already have a handlebar since it's the same thing, just unstyled pretty much. But getting to that walrus is the hardest thing. You learn a lot of patience for sure so that's always a good thing. Kudos to those beard competition guys! They got it down pat!

    I only handlebar mine once in awhile for a different look. Bossman’s Mudstache Wax works better than anything I’ve ever tried. It’s water based and not stiff, sticky or messy. It’s so easy to work with and it works great!

      Out of all the waxes I've tried, Bossman's is definitely the most convenient to use. I like using Bossman's in the summer more than in the winter because the condensation from my nose has softened it up before. Still, it's a great product to use.

    • @oks1042
      @oks1042 Před 4 lety +1

      I'm a fan of the Mudstache wax too. The biggest thing for me is that it's not shiny like regular wax so it has a much more natural look. The water solubility is a plus and a minus. It's easy to wash out but like mentioned condensation from breathing in the cold or working and getting sweaty make it come out which can get kinda annoying.

    Can I use beard balm instead of moustache wax ? I was thinking of maybe using beard balm instead of moustache wax because I’m not sure if I need to use a moustache wax or if I can get away with a balm, not doing some crazy moustache Styling at this time but want some control, my line of thinking is,if I use the balm then I can also use it on my beard too. What are your thoughts?
    I have never tried a beard balm, but have heard good things about it, some people like balm others don’t, I have only had experience with beard butters , beard oil and moustache wax.

      If you start to get it to turn the wrong way try going to the base of the curl and turn it the opposite way just a little with some extra wax. If you try doing it to far towards the end it starts to get kind of crooked. Hope that helps let me know how that works or if you have any other questions.

    Great information guys. I've tried to trim when styled and when natural and it only turns out well for me when I trim when styled. I'm going to have to try out those waxes you recommended. I've been experimenting with 3 other ones that work pretty decent, but I feel like there is a better wax out there yet. Do you ever feel like you need to apply heat to your stache to tame/train it before applying wax, or does the wax itself hold good enough on it's own?

    • @jakerancourtcomedy4799
      @jakerancourtcomedy4799 Před 4 lety

      The heavier waxes need to be heated up beforehand once its applied it should stay pretty well set. If it's not try a heavier wax like can you handlebar secondary and see if the stronger wax helps. Hope that helps and if you have any other questions I'm happy to help.

  • @martinandrews8496
    @martinandrews8496 Před 4 lety +2

    I have a question for Jake. So I recently ordered death grip mustache wax and it doesn't hardden it is just tacky. I'm affraid to buy another wax untill I know how to tell the difference in waxs. Is can u handlebar secondary tacky or does it actually harden. Second what do u reccomend for the med wax. My sides were so long the middle looked dumb like idk how to explain it but there was a part where I rolled the sides of the stash. So I gotta let the middle catch up and grow it down the side of my lips a bit more. So is primary a good medium hold?

    • @jakerancourtcomedy4799
      @jakerancourtcomedy4799 Před 4 lety +1

      Secondary is a very strong hold not tacky and does harden. For the middle while your letting the middle grow try their primary. It's tough letting the middle grow and it can be kind of awkward but it is worth it. Hope that helps and let me know how that works out for you. If you have any other questions please reach out.

      @@jakerancourtcomedy4799 awesome I just purchased the "get a pair" and some picks. I also trimmed the side so that all hairs are the same length. But I have one more question if that's ok. So upper lip line. For some.reason when I curl mine.up it's not completely past my upper lip.line. like with it's I feel where the direction of stach starts to change is center of top.and bottom lip where u have that crease. How far down past center of lips do u let the hair grow out?

    • @jakerancourtcomedy4799
      @jakerancourtcomedy4799 Před 4 lety +1

      @@martinandrews8496 actually I dont trim the middle at all. Once it hits a certain length you can work it into the rest of the handlebar to keep it out of your way. I use to trim just the middle until the ends got long enough to curl. With the lighter wax I used to put that in the middle to keep it out of the way and eventually it just all comes together.

      I've been using Death Grip with some great results. People complain that it is too stiff and painful to apply, but when I use heat as I am applying it goes in just like a heavy balm. It cools in place for a great all day hold. I recommend putting a drop of beard oil in each side of the mustache and rubbing it in before trying to wash it out. The oil softens up the wax and it comes right out after its sat for a bit.
