    Both Furtwängler and Celibidache take a very similar approach to the 1st movement. Furtwängler's 1952 performance ends within seconds of this one. Both omit the repeat of the 1st movement exposition. That 1952 performance is my favorite, but that recorded sound leaves so much to the imagination. This to me is a lot like Furtwängler might have done had lived to record later. Note that Klemperer is similar but repeats the expo.

    Maestro Celibidache's slow version of Beethoven symphonies beautifully dissected the intrinsic elements that Beethoven insightfully planted. It gives you a distinct opportunity to resurface Beethoven's hidden emotion...

    This is a Pastoral Symphony without an exposition repeat in the first movement, which is, in my humble opinion, a little bit regrettable. It is, however, one of truly great performances of this supreme masterpiece, maybe because of its relaxing tempo, and its ultimate clarity. Thank you very very much for sharing this priceless gem.

    a lot of this is wonderful. In the end it probably doesn't quite displace Sanderling as my reference recording because, although the leisurely tempi are in general completely appropriate, there are times when you want a bit of nudge for more contrast and certainly more drama in the Storm. There is just a hint of inflexibility at times. But when one considers how rushed and perfunctory most performances of this symphony are, he gets far more right than wrong.

  • @PatxiSantorini
    @PatxiSantorini Před 5 lety +4

    La música, según la acepción fenomenológica de esta, es una masa sonora en movimiento, articulada en relación directa con la sensibilidad y nuestra conciencia humana. Celibidache ha sido el único, junto con Leonard Berstein, que han enunciado los principio fenomenológicos de la música. Esto explica la admirable capacidad de Celibidache para meterse en la " piel " de los compositores de las obras que ejecutaba. Cuando a muchos les parece que tal o tal ejecución de Celibidache es demasiado lenta, están desarticulando toda la noción de la conciencia que todo director de orquesta debe de anteponer a su propio estilo y respetar el espíritu de la escritura musical que se desprende de cada partitura. Nadie es maestro del ritmo, del tempo, de los pulsos que los diferentes compositores han querido para sus obras, pero de lo que están obligados a hacer es a respetar el mensaje que cada obra lleva consigo. En esta sinfonía pastoral, Celibidache ha interpretado de maravilla lo que esta sinfonía de Beethoven queria que sintiéramos: el matiz del susurro del viento entre las hojas, la serenidad que se desprende de una tarde de un verano que tarda en irse, la mirada sosegada de los animales en comunión con la naturaleza, el leve roce de las hojas de los árboles, el discurrir quedo de un arroyo. Todo esto no sugiere la prisa, la emotividad desordenada, la injustificada premura de una ejecución que, si se eleva el tempo, pierde toda su razón de ser. No creo que en el ánimo de Beethoven estuviera la idea de hacer de esta música que transmite ensoñación, serenidad y paz, otra cosa que el transmitir esas emociones. Las ejecuciones de Karajan, Furtwangler o meme Toscanini, parecen tener prisa por penetrar en el espíritu de quien la oye. Se entregan al dictado de la tecnica en su acepción más burda y, según mi parecer, traicionan el legado de Beethoven en esta maravillosa sinfonía. Por eso insisto en la importancia de la fenomenología musical, porque es la base, el pilar sobre los que se apoya una dirección orquestal respetando los parámetros sin los cuales, la música ejecutada, se compone de un máximo de técnica y un mínimo de conciencia y humanidad. Celibidache, el director más grande de todos los tiempos!
