Even tried to fight me when I talked back. Well we finally raced and his bone stock 5.9 lost massively to my full bolt on 4.7 and 11 years later my 4.7 is blown up and I'm best friends with the guy and now own the 5.9 😂 weird how this world works
@@505racing3 mine had dual exhaust, flowmaster 10 series, k&n cold air, superchips programmer, jba headers, and 4.56 gears. It squatted so hard it inverted the drivers side rear leaf springs when I launched it one time. I miss that truck

@@paulb2995they're not bad except the plenum gaskets leak. He's complaining that they didnt design the magnum as a race motor so they're very torquey down low and up to 3500-4k they just drop off and they don't breathe well after that. Dual plane manifold like the air gap that Hughes engines sells will help with this and let it breathe better up to 5500 rpm. Or you can port the stock one but the cam in 2 barrel throttle body are also a contributing factor to their lack of top end performance
@@paulb2995it's a truck engine they weren't made for racing but if you open them up, do a little bit of light modification it's not too hard to get them to 400 horsepower and 400 ++++ lbft of torque. That's all with bolt ons and a tune.
@@bennyboyy7it's a truck top end performance is useless, you're just a sail in the wind, your better off throwing on a 4.10 in the rear end, long tube headers, a mild cam, good street tires, and a good tune and just redo your plenum gasket with a good one that basically solves that problem. Top end performance is only good on the track or if you're on the highway/freeway, strengthening your low/bottom end performance is what's going to just beat the piss off of everybody stop light to stop light.
My buddy had a 05 ram with the 5.7 hemi it was fast fun and this one time he took a uturn to fast and the gas went to one side of the tank and the truck shut off 😂😂😂

Theres a lot more potential for power with the 5.9, and you get overall a lot more reliable engine for damn near the same performance...... I would still call the 5.9 the winner all damn day

Spark plugs and wire ignition upgrade as well as fuel injectors and tb and they are monsters. These engines need to breathe. They like more and fuel to make power
I have a 5.2 it's a beast and starts first try. I put in a sound system, 2 12inch subs etc. Now I'm working on the motor. I don't want to straight pipe it with headers yet because although it would sound great, these trucks are built for lowend torque. I want to apply a basic cold air intake and basic maintenance to see how quick it goes before I spend a bunch of money making it quick. As far as reliability goes no motor problems, the transmission requires a lot of tlc though
I'm honestly shocked the 4.7 beat the 5.9 I own an 01 5.9 and I mean I know it's slow but dam I honestly think my old V6 mustang could beat my truck lol
