Have a John Deere 1026R on our farm. The seat safety switch and the switch that allows you to back up with the deck engaged have been bypassed. With the number of trees that we have to mow around, it's too aggravating to have to pull out on a button just to back up and not have the deck shut off. With the seat switch, it's too easy to shift in the seat and shut the mower down.
I have a 455 and it’s all wheel steer, it around 22 hp and was made in 1995 (around there) and it has all of those features (and all wheel steer) and it’s probably ether than the new one 👍
ive always went half throttle, turn on the blades, then go full throttle. If you just go full throttle and turn the blades on it puts a lot of stress on the mower :)
Yeah i have an older JD 400 and if you dont have it at least at half throttle its not happy lol
FarmBoy 1208 with our noma and dynamark no throttle to half throttle to not have the belts not slip but with the f935 with 60 inch full throttle no problem, now with the 72 incher thats a diffrent story...:):)
1976JD_400 on this series you can start at full throttle because the PTO winds up. And it does not put a lot of stress on it then on the x300 and x500 you should start it at half throttle.

I have a John Deere 425 and a John Deere X728 Ultimate with 4x4 and mud flaps. I love them both
Basically the best ride when you're single is a John Deere riding lawn mower . LOL
The 12 volt outlet is just like the one in a car. I have the outlet wired up to an actuator so it controls the spout on the snowblower. It is there for hooking up equipment like a sprayer. If you want to charge your phone you could do that too I guess. They do make 4x4 tractors. I have one and it has a lot of power. You should never cut so low with that mower deck. I hope you adjusted the wheels on the deck too. The deck should not be riding on the wheels. They should only hit the ground a little, especially if you are going over bumps or something. If you ride on those wheels then they will get worn down fast. Don't look at the deck height from the dial. Use a John Deere deck leveling gauge. Oh and you don't need to take off the parking break to start it. You can keep it on.
Clearly you haven't seen an X738, X739, X758, or any of the higher end X700 and the older X575-X595 series Deere garden tractors. They all have 4WD. It's a garden tractor, not a lawn mower.
I didn't know you also watch this channel. I love his John Deere 4640, it's one tough machine. I wish I had one.

we took the safety spring off of our tg series kubota because of all the bumps and ruts and we have a pond and one side of the dam is really step so in order to sit on the side facing uphill we had to remove the spring
Always took the keychain, pulled up the PTO switch so it engaged RIO and stuck it behind it. That way you never have to mess with pulling it up every single time you want to back up
reversing lights on lawnmower quite useful when mowing in the dark and reversing

I just bought a X710 yesterday. My John Deere conversion started with a used GT245 that I got from a friend who upgraded to a GT355 diesel that another friend of mine had.(which he sold and bought a 455d) Replaced the carburetor on the GT245 and it runs like new... It has around 300 hours..After mowing with the GT 245 and then getting back on my Husqvarna GT24K54 with hydro gear transmission I knew I would be selling the Husqvarna and getting another GT 245 or better. No comparison period. The Husqvarna does good for what it is..It has a Kawasaki 24 HP with the fast hydro trans..It will cut 3 acres in around 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours depending on how high the grass is but the GT 245 will run rings around it and feels like a Cadillac compared to the Husqvarna.. What do I think about the X710....?? Unbelievable !!! This thing will mow backwards faster than the typical LAWN tractor will forward..Power steering and 8.5 MPH ground speed..I actually clocked it with the blades engaged running over some thick grass and it maintained 8 MPH and jumped up to 9 MPH after coming out of the tall grass. The higher end 7's have to be awesome..especially the diesel's...But to all who are thinking about buying a 2 to $3000 dollar new tractor...DON"T..The old GT245 are in the price range and are 10 times better.

They actually make models of that size that are 4wd. I think the gaser version is the X748 Ultimate if my memory serves me right, the diesel I think was the 728. I drove a 748 at a lawn care place as the maintenance worker, nice tractor but big bucks for not a whole lot of utility.
The X748 and (newer) X758 are diesel and 4 wheel drive. X740 and X750 are diesel 2 wheel drive. The X748 through 2008 was manual 4WD and after that was full time hydrostatic 4WD. I have the last year X748 with manual 4WD (2008). Mine is a beast, I have the optional rear 540 rpm PTO and 3 point lift, as well as a front loader. As of 2015, the front loader is no longer available from Deere and the frames on the X7's are not designed to retrofit an older loader, although there are a couple of aftermarket manufacturers who make a loader to fit. These X7 series are truly small tractors and not just a lawn mower. I garden with mine, plowing and tilling a 1/4 acre plot, as well as mow 5 acres. There is plenty of utility in one of these machines and the durability is outstanding. As with all John Deere products, you get what you pay for.

John Deere x758 is diesel we use those for are yard business and they do wonderful

Yes, the X758 is 4WD. $13,580 and you have to purchase the mower deck separately. The mower decks are another $2,000+. Tons of options on these, but for that price I'd look at the compact utility tractor line up LOL. Then again I'm kind of wanting a loader as well :).

Hey man love your channel to death and I don't know jack about farming but I do know something about lawn care thanks to spending 10 years in the business. Just want to let you know you're scalping that grass. Those numbers on that dial stand for inches, and you want it set no lower than 3 inches minimum for the kind of grass you're cutting.

I don't know why you need to take off the seat safety switch because you should be sitting down the whole time when you are using it. If you are having problems staying on the seat then you have a different problem. It is for safety so in case you fall off then you might not get hurt; however, I disconnected the yellow button so that you can back up without pressing anything. This makes it convenient for many things.

By grandfather has a craftsman lawn mower and he has a walnut tree so he bolted the sensor down so he could get off the lawn mower and pick up walnuts without it shutting off

You didn't mention the big orange button on the left side of the tractor on the floorboard. The button that gives you positrack when you push it.
That deck wash-out connection is the 1st thing to plug up; useless. Sounds good, probably works if you never cut real grass. Also, that reverse button is a PITA. Bypass it first thing. Cute mower, works great for pulling tour wagons, not so much outside.
Please compare this mower with the "new" one you bought at the auction in 2018.
Buddy they do have 4wd on the X585 and several X700 series tractors...
The prices on some of this stuff is insane for what you actually get. I saw a Kubota GR1600 II and they wanted $10k, that's approaching new car territory.

I worked as a mechanic for a John Deere dealership. John Deere makes good lawn tractors but if I could afford a Cub Cadet I would prefer to have one of those. I have had a John Deere 140 for about 15 years and it has been a good lawn tractor.

I just got a new deck on my L108. It has that garden hose connector on the left of the deck. What is that for?
+JL Software it's for cleaning your deck when you're finished. Attach a garden hose and run the mower off the ground for a few minutes after each mowing. Helps keep it clean

Get a striping kit for the lawnmower
This is a very sturdy and well built mower. I thought I wouldn't like the foot operated speed control but after one use czcams.com/users/postUgkxTZSPVwJFBv2hORqhQamtxi-tAe5K2EtC , I can't believe I ever had one without it. It drives like a car with an automatic transmission. Easy to adjust mowing speed according to grass depth/thickness. I have yet to get used to the long throw of the blade engagement lever but kind of get why it is that way. It allows you to hold mowing for short moments if you need. The engine seems very substantial and the frame has very little flex, both adding up to an impressive package. All my previous tractors were 18 to21 hp with 42in decks. This one is 23/46. I mow about 1.5 acres about every 5 days here in Alaska and that mowing time has been reduced by about 20%, partly due to the very tight turning radius. No loop arounds lol. Hour meter, cruise control, reverse mowing capability,deck cleanout and easy assembly all add up to a very well thought out tractor.
