eve here! ok so... not all of these songs have “proper” antidrops, but i thought they still conveyed that emptiness in some way (be it through the vocals, instrumental, etc). i find the concept of an antidrop so interesting, so i wanted to put it in video form so other people could find songs like this !!

Antidrop songs are so sexy, either intentionally or not. They're all just so sexy.
I think anti-drops seem very sexy because all the beat is stripped away from the vocals and you can clearly hear the emotion, richness and allure in a voice. The single beat also helps put the voice on the pedestal and your sole focus is the voice and you truly appreciate the vocals. That’s my take on it, tehe

I agree, I think it has to do with the fact the bass is so prominent. Bass can add so much sultriness to a song, whether intentional or not haha
@Jazzy 3120 I think so too! I always look for the bass line in songs and anti-drops just makes it so much easier. I love the rhythms blaring through the emptiness ^^

@@hwang_seungrae yeah I don’t think EDM is characterized by drops… but I’m an anti-drop, pro-antidrop person too haahaha makes it sound really classy and intense without being hella loud. So much easier to listen to on repeat imo, but I like SOME drop-chorus/hook songs too

yesss anti-drops are so satisfying and great to play with because they leave so much room to keep building up the song.
You can have a classy and smooth anti-drop like got7’s or a powerful anti-drop like gidle’s or (and this is my personal favorite) you can start with the anti-drop and then have an actual drop or buildup within the same chorus like in cix’s jungle, golden child’s without you (this song just makes incredible use of a minimalistic instrumental) or hoshi’s spider. ITS JUST SO SATISFYING.

songs that have an antidrop that builds up within the chorus are everything i could ever want and more
One thing about antidrops that I often like is that, whilst they're satisfying and nice to hear, a lot of them are followed by post-chorus' that give a bit more substance or energy that some listeners might've been craving

Yesss finally someone talks about these ! I don't know why but antidrops feel more classy and mysterious to me. It makes the song feel laid back instead of being pushed down your throat

Such an interesting genre of songs. Imo antidrops are nearly always done well compared to some normal drops which may be underwhelming or unfitting. Would love to see producers try different kinds of antidrops in the future too

bro at this point my music taste is just shaped by my faves,, like they release the genres I’ve always loved but with a ✨twist✨ and it’s always perfect
like it’s only because they’re so good at their craft as skilled artists that anything will sound good and if I don’t like it immediately it grows on me eventually because I start to notice why the song is that way and end up liking it even more for the parts I didn’t like at first

I love when songs go for the antidrop as the first part of the chorus and then add a second chorus part which is super full and contrasts with the antidrop. Door by Eunbi is a perfect exemple of that type of song !!
