Ya my son made it out of a 4x6 box steel it’s 3/16 thick then he built the tire rack. The D ring hanger actually go through the beam and attach to the frame rail . Thanks for the kind comment and keep rocking your projects..🤙🏼🤙🏼

great job looks like front axle moved forward a little like the wheels and tires too my 35's liked to eat rear part of front fender when flexed till i cut some off i have the offset kick the wheel out 1\2 and inch good job for a day

That Burb looks really good with 37s. Ujoint Offroad does Ford van 4x4 conversions and puts leaf springs in the front. Swears they ride and handle better than the coils it came with. What do you think? Makes sense to me, but looks like it was a lot of work getting it there. Thanks for sharing the build with us. Definitely a cool truck. Now you just need a ladder to be able to get in. LOL!!
My opinion is the van with coils would run way smoother than a lifted spring in the front. Not saying lifted with leaf springs wouldn’t be smooth just not as luxury as the coils. I love the look of a lifted van with a solid axle in the front. It really depends on you and what you want and are using it for , I have collected a lot of parts through out the years for a build but it’s definitely been work because everything is big and heavy, not like the smaller old cars I like to mess with . Nice, I am looking forward to part #2, steering. I have a 1995 GMC,C1500 project and a 79 Ford leafspring axle, DYI B52 kit, and 6" lift rear 52" Rough Country springs, Reed knuckles, Sky 3" tall steering arms and tie rod. I still need everything else. I think I will have about 14" of lift when done. Rear factory 52" spring in front =8" to 9" lift with B52?How tall is yours? Did you use +6" front spings?
Yes definitely been trying to get her buttoned up Iam waiting on the rear brake lines hopefully they will be here tomorrow. And I have the dom for the front steering , I have been working on installing the shocks in the process of re welding shock mounts in the rear . I used 6 inch lift springs for the front . I think if I wher to use the 6 inch rear springs in the front it give it a some more lift. The rain and the wind have put a damper on my content but I will definitely get some videos of the steering. lot people dont i do is plate or double up frame either later or after little at time add in makes better seen few know lot like buckle bulge well focrum point snap right out
Yess we added a frame plate stiffener to the steering side of the frame and also the off road design steering box stiffener. Hopefully it holds up! Thanks for the kind comment i really appreciate it.🤙🏼🤙🏼
Where did you get the rims?
The rims I purchased from summit racing. They are 17x10x 8.5 lug pattern with a 3.5 inch or 4 inch back spacing. Part #USM-U10117008245. Hope this helps and thanks for the positive comment I do appreciate it.🤙🏼🤙🏼

The rims are us mags from summit. They are a 17x10. I am pretty stoked on them just have to keep them buffed out for the shine. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
How much lift total?
Asking because I always thought that using the original stock rear springs on the front were close 4 inches of lift w/o out any lift springs. Curious because I have a 85 I've bought 2 lift kits so far and neither of them sit like I planned
This could get confusing but I will explain the best that I can. I used 6 inch lift spring s in the rear with a reverse shackle flip which gives me about 8 inch of total lift in the rear. The front I use the 6 inch front lift springs with longer rear spring shackle hangers , I also used the DIY 4x4 B52 front shackle hanger kit witch has the option to move the front axle forward for a better approach angle when wheeling . I moved mine forward which lowered the front back to about 6 inches of lift which makes the truck sit higher in the rear . Now for the confusing part . If i use rear lift spring in the front it would give me a taller lift in the front about 3-4 inches if mounted in the stock factory position. If I move the axle forward without moving the rear frame shackle hanger forward and a longer rear shackle it has actually stayed about 6 inches of lift. If I pull it back it will lift it back to about 8 inches of lift. We are experimenting with all the options and playing with the stance to see what works for us. If I could recommend any thing the stock 6 inch lift with 37 inch tires always looked good in my opinion. Hope this helps at least a little. @@rustedmoneyranch thanks I'm in va not much in my area but sand mud and flood tides. I've got a 1985 I'm building on a budget I've bought 2 different lifts and neither sit lit like I want. What I've bought has been 2nd hand supposedly a 6 and another one a 8.youve got more clearance on the 37s then I have with a alleged "8 inch" on 33s ideally I'd like 35-36 by 14-15.50w with the top of the tire at the bottom of the wheel well.
If I remember correctly the stock rear leaf springs off of a 3/4 ton of the same area should get you ruffly 4 inches in the front just like you mentioned. Then if you get longer front rear leaf shackles hangers in theory give a decent lift. My son has a 85 suburban with a 6 inch lift and 37 and theirs plenary of room for the tires. Are you using al the factory hangers or are you using reverse shackles in the rear?
@@rustedmoneyranch so far I'm all factory, and I'm not 100% what lift I have other then what I was told. Don't know anyway to measure to find out. Good to know because I have a 3/4 ton I bought for parts but have fallen for the white and blue paint with the patina. Not sure if I want to buy a new lift to know what I actually have, or just save and try to find a old 5/4 military truck or some 1 tons. I like the old mud bog monster truck look I grew up with. I've heard anything more then 8 could cause issues with the front driveshaft.

What is this a 4 x 4 conversion?
The B52 kit from DIY 4x4 will let you use rear 52 inch springs in the front of your 4x4 and also gives you options to move the front axle forward for a better approach angle when off-roading. The kit can be used to convert a 2 wheel drive to solid axle 4 wheel drive with a few modifications. I would definitely do your research before attempting this upgrade it’s more complicated than just your basic 6 inch lift kit . Hope this answers your question.Have a great day 🤙🏼🤙🏼
How much it cost for the full axle?
I believe we have give or take about 3000 US dollars into this front axle. That’s new gears bearings seals knuckles cross over high steer kit. You can save a lot of money if you do the work yourself, on this truck we had a shop do the gears seals and bearings.
