I hear you on feeling self-conscious. I hunt exclusively at night with a headlamp for this exact reason. Very peaceful, and figure I'm the weirdest person out there so pretty safe ;)
Haha, yep that's exactly the feeling that I had after I got used to it. Nobody bothered me and being out in the dark with only a headlamp really shrinks the world for you.
