▶︎ A little story about me: I am a retired shop teacher, I spent 36 years teaching Graphic Arts, Vocational Printing Trades, Photography along with extra duties like Drivers Education, & Yearbook Advisor.
I started teaching shop in the fall of 1974. We had seven full time shop teachers. (Industrial Education)
Auto Shop
Construction • Built A House
Drafting, Mechanical & Architectural
Graphic Arts
Small Engines • Marine & Lawn
Metal Shop
Wood Shop
In the late 90’s Industrial Education had to deal with new state guidelines called: Core Curriculum. This put a strong emphasis on the college prep program for all Michigan Students. Needless to say the students had no room in the school day for elective classes and this put Industrial Education out of business
I also took shop classes in High School. Mr. Pasternak and Mr. Mathers were my high school shop teachers and they got me started at Central Michigan University to become a Michigan Shop Teacher.
I would not want to be a high school student today. No shop classes.

I grew up in this area, we rode trains through there over to Canada and back in the early 80's.
Thanks for the information and watching. 🚂
I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi NicK: Glad you enjoyed it & thanks for watching 👍
I used to work out of rouge yard quite a bit been all down the short and long marsh trackage, pulled many a steel coils from the 80” mill, walking between the tracks you could feel and see the heat coming off those fresh rolled coils. Zug island always looked like a scene from hell at night with the flames and noise coming from it. Also saw many hot metal “bottle” trains coming from zug furnaces seeing the orange glow emanating from the tops was awesome at night.
Hi Steve: I like to fish the Detroit River & you can see the same flames from a boat. Thanks for watching.🚂
Liked!, Enjoy the holidays, Gary.

Hay Gary there is a Detroit and Mackinac locomotive at Greenfield village not in good condition but thought you'd like to know
Interesting about the D&M at the Ford Museum & Village. They also have boxcars & a caboose. Thanks for the tip & watching. 🚂
👍
Hi My Train Hobby: Good morning - Thanks for watching. 🚂
does anyone have video of what the engineer would see going through the tunnel?
Hi Ryan: No I do not have a view from the locomotive. I have a video coming out on Wed. December 21, 2022 - Showing the CP Holiday Train coming out of the tunnel. Thanks for watching. 🚂
@@trainroomgary can u send it to me now? haha
Does CP use more than one track on the Detroit-Windsor tunnel? The second track is still present, but both trains in the video used the same track.
Hi Pacifico Studios: It is my understanding that back in the 80’s the tunnel portal on the left was made larger to handle the double stacked containers and auto racks. Thanks for watching. Note: There is a YT video about how this was done. Gary from Michigan 🚂
@@trainroomgary - That explains a lot. I think remember reading about this. Anyways, that would explain why the other track gets so little traffic. CP must use it for light engine movements and unit coal trains, if there are any.
@@pacificostudios Hi again - This is the link to the video about how the tunnel was built. czcams.com/video/fnSfOuCJdR4/video.html
@@trainroomgary - Thanks for that!
