▶︎ A little story about me: I am a retired shop teacher, I spent 36 years teaching Graphic Arts, Vocational Printing Trades, Photography along with extra duties like Drivers Education, & Yearbook Advisor.
I started teaching shop in the fall of 1974. We had seven full time shop teachers. (Industrial Education)
Auto Shop
Construction • Built A House
Drafting, Mechanical & Architectural
Graphic Arts
Small Engines • Marine & Lawn
Metal Shop
Wood Shop
In the late 90’s Industrial Education had to deal with new state guidelines called: Core Curriculum. This put a strong emphasis on the college prep program for all Michigan Students. Needless to say the students had no room in the school day for elective classes and this put Industrial Education out of business
I also took shop classes in High School. Mr. Pasternak and Mr. Mathers were my high school shop teachers and they got me started at Central Michigan University to become a Michigan Shop Teacher.
I would not want to be a high school student today. No shop classes.

Hi B&O RR - Thanks for checking out all the sparks. Gary from Michigan. 😎
Yes, that's cool! ;)
Hi Train Fart: Nice to see you again: Thanks for watching the "Sparks" 🚂
Dangerous sparks. If flammable Frieght was on Train the Train could blow up 👍♐️
Hi Ogauge Trains plus slot cars: Yes - Sparks can be dangerous, have cause forest fires. Thanks for watching - Gary 🚂
If a mindless head were nearby, it might explode too. :)
Thanks Gary
Hi Frank - Very welcome & thanks for welcome. 🚂
Hi Gary, Good catch. I like the paint scheme of the engines. I can't help you why the wheels are sparking. Lert's, hope they know and will correct the problem.
Hi Nick: Thanks for the info & watching 🚂
Looks like some major wheel spin! No traction on wet rails. Good catch Gary.
Hi Ron from Southern California: 🌴 Maybe it is a "Dead Rail Issue" Thanks for watching, Michigan is having snow up north. Gary 🚂
@@trainroomgary touché 🙂
Train super👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much! 🚂
Great vid Gary..
What the problem is : The track cleaning wagon has passed through this line with a ton of Goo Gone recently and the fully loaded grain train has come up the line with not enough time for the Goo Gone to dry,
This happens to my trains now and again...🤣
Wow: Goo Gone is it! Thanks for watching. Gary 🚂
Hey Gary, it looks like the middle engine's wheels are spinning much faster than the other 2 engines and that is causing the sparks, but it's hard to be sure. Take care and stay warm as the weather gets colder. Stay inside and play trains. Best regards, Joe.
Country Joe of Florida: Great point - Thanks for watching. Gary 🚂
Definitely a traction issue. maybe the sand on that engine was not working properly. Nice catch for sure!
Hi BObozo: I think so too - Thanks for watching. Gary 😎
Never seen that before Gary. Great catch though!
HI Union Central System - Thanks for stopping by & watching. Gary 😎
That was the HESR 810 job from Vassar Michigan. They had trouble getting around the curve in Durand. They had 90 grain cars with 3 engines. They almost didn’t make it through Flushing with the train.
By the way, nice video.
Hi Huron & Eastern Railfan: Thanks for the information & watching. Gary 🚂
Wow Gary!!!
Hi Jeff: Yes "The Wow Factor" Thanks for watching. Gary 🚂
@@trainroomgary You're welcome!!!
Looks like the wheel slip controls are malfunctioning Surprised the engineer didn’t recognize it
Hi David: Thanks for the tip and watching. Gary 🚂
Brakes stuck somewhere down the line? Get that fella some SAND!
Hi D&M: Detroit & Mackinac - Yes we need some sand, thanks for watching. Gary 🚂
Hi Gary! Cool video 😊
Hi North Penn Valley Steam RR - Hey, thanks - Gary from Michigan 😎
Amazing video Gary. I have no idea what is causing the sparks.
Hi Al - The mystery of sparks continues . Thanks for watching. Gary 😎
Gary what’s up I love shots at rare locomotives
Hi Garlic Sauce: Thanks for watching. 😎
Is it possible that the sparking wheels on that locomotive are spinning faster than they should? Friction!
Hi Bill: Thanks for the information & watching, if it was a Lionel, we could say the pickup rollers. Gary 🚂
The center rail pickup on the locomotive is dirty.
Hi Chuck: Yes us Lionel operators would agree. Gary 🚂
Sanders not working grinding rail and wheels, added ware to both.
Is that the NS line they sold off to G&W?
Hi Guss: Thanks for stopping by and the tips. Gary from Michigan 🚂
Wheel slip, wearing out the wheels and the track. Wet track? Overloaded locomotive. Too heavy train? Sync problem? Hard to say without knowing more of the situation.
Hi Bruce from Germany: The pros are tells me, "Seriously something wrong with the wheel slip protection system". Thanks for watching. 🚂
Never seen anything like it. 🤔 Loram rail grinders make a lot of sparks but is clearly not that operation.
Hi Terry: Thanks for the information & watching. Gary 🚂
Slippage. Engine was out of sync. Notice how after stopping and restarting it stopped.
Hi Curtis: Thanks for the information & watching. Gary 🚂
