I don't think so. Because 4k or 8k is not at all NEEDED standard 1080p is way more than enough for most people that makes 4k capable cards relevant for many years to come. In 10 years maybe the low end 1070 or 2060 will be, but the high end ones, not so much. I think even in 10 years a 2080ti will run most games at low maybe even medium at 1080p, and will not be regarded as junk. Heck it's almost 4 years since the 10xx series launched, and I would say 1080ti is still king if you disregard RTX (which is pointless in my opinion anyway). We are currently reaching a top end limit on how much power a gpu can have. Unless we come to a big break trough in new technologies and thus make regular gpus totally obsolete, then no. I think it will be priced at least around 100ish dollars in ten years.

You are so lucky to have found this card from the dump. Finding something like this would absolutely make my day. But I live in Pakistan, and electronics are more expensive here so companies and businesses don't just throw them out, but instead sell them off when they don't need them anymore.
It's a pretty nice card. I remember getting it back in 2016 for $30 to mess around with and I ended up using it as my main GPU for like a month instead of my 750 Ti. Plays Battlefield 4 at 768p Ultra @ 40-50 FPS.

Maybe Outtel will do something with their GPUs, but I doubt it. I do trust their driver team more than I trust the others, but I don't trust them to do better GPUs than AyyyMD. I do hope they prove me wrong and we get some better deals.
Wow, so it's nostalgic for you guys... I was using this GPU until last year where I switched to a GTX 1080. But my old card still works fine, no crashes and so on.
Recently bought a GTS 450 off of ebay. I was running a GT 430 with 1GB of DDR3 and no need for extra power. For $20 I got the GTS 450 that upgraded the GPU and went from DDR3 to DDR5 memory. This allowed me to go from LOW settings to MEDIUM settings in World of Tanks. The GTS 450 runs well so this particular card is good. I gave it a good cleaning and it runs fine. This makes WAY more sense to me than dropping $1400 on the top of the line graphics card. If you decide to upgrade your graphics card, make sure that your power supply has the connectors and necessary voltages to support you new toy. Otherwise you will be investing even more money to make it work.
just me being annoying but you upgraded from a gddr3 gt 430 to a gddr4 450 neither card is ddr3 which used to be used for really low end models back when gddr3 was around, but when gddr3 became replaced with gddr5 (gddr4 was used in a very small amount and wasn't good so it was mostly ignored) ddr3 became the new standard for low end cards as it was I assume cheaper than gddr3. there are no ddr5 gpus yet, though we did get the much hated and reviled ddr4 gt 1030 (not gddr4, ddr4 lol)
I've got two of these cards sitting on a shelf. I got them when I bought a Dell XPS 730x in 2013 but I never used them opting for the GTX 580 that I had at the time for the HDMI capability. After watching this I might find a use for them, I have a Dell Precision T7500 I could stick them in (even though it's currently using a GTX 770).
One of my friends still has his GTX260 and it (kinda) still does the job for him. I think it might be overheating and thermal throttling, but I couldn't see any way of dissembling it, because it is the XFX edition, which doesn't have the usual screws at the back.
Please let Random know this by thumbing up. Blackops 1 has an issue with any windows OS after Windows XP SP3 Back when BO1 was released XP ran 50% faster. I think it had to do with XBOX 360 where it uses Windows XP Shell. Yes Blackops 1 is 50% faster on Windows XP Pro SP3. And the whine is Coil Whine where if it's user presure it makes that noise. Mine does it on 1 game only.
For testing older GFX cards. Some modern games that use still use Dx9 are Euro truck simulator 2 that game really gives my Nvidea 970 a workout. They have a demo of that game.
I literally used my Xfx Geforce 285 close to a decade before retiring it for a GTX 1080. It was such a great card. One of the last games I remember playing on it was Killing Floor 2. I had to force dx10 to get it to work.
At that time(2008), I had just upgrading from a Ati Radeon HD 3850 to a x1950 Pro. A year and a half later, I would get the 6870. Back then GPUs were released much faster than today. Ironic when you consider that GDDR5 has been around for 10 years now.
I would like to share that I purchase a HD 7850 from Ebay for $17 dollars. It was being sold as is and the cooler on the card was missing, however the risk was worth it as it booted up with no problems! I just ziptied a Case fan to it and now I have a kickass 1080p card for under $20 :))
I instantly knew this was a GTX280 or similar; love seeing this card out in the wild and on videos. Few knew how beastly it was in that tiny slice of time 2008 time. Though cpus were lagging behind then by a lot.
I got an original Logitech G15 Gaming keyboard for $6 Canadian at a thrift store. Only thing wrong with it is the LCD backlight no longer works.(Or it might not be receiving enough power) but for $6 I am not complaining. Checked eBay and the first original G15 I saw was going for over $90.
I still have one of those. My friend used to play war thunder with it :) I also have two GTX 295 in sli in my "nostalgia" pc.. Man it was hard to find a proper 1366 board with sli.
Why run socket 775 tho? I was running tri-sli gtx 280's back in the day, and core i7 was already the name of the game, yet alone when the gtx 295 came out 6 months later
Personally it was because the gtx 285 came out in Q1 of 2008 while the core i7 came out in Q4 of 2008 and gtx 295 came out later in 2009, I was trying to build the best pc you could get with socket 775 before the new i7 released! So for ease Im labeling it the beast of 2008 though I would be wrong because of the i7 BUT I was given the cpu and needed to do something with it! Next I plan on building the Best pc u could get as of 2010 using a xeon x5650 overclocked (like the x5460) and gtx 580's in 4 way sli because I believe (and correct me if im wrong) sandy bridge wasn't actually released till Q1 2011 and the 600 series nvidia gpuz didnt release till 2011 either
@@anonymousone9447 okay cool man, was just curious :) never tried running 4 way, have fun! Though the gtx 285 was released in 2009 not 2008, which he also says around the 1 minute mark ;)
@Eclipezz whoops.. I meant 1366 board :) My friend gave me i7-960 for free and that's where the whole idea for the system started. Fixed the first post.
I often forgot how ridiculously huge a GPU chip in 2009-2012 era. Owned HD4890, GTX460, 9600GT. Comparing those monstrosity to the RX570 or the GTX970, makes you wonder the trade offs they had to do.
+RandomGaminginHD Man, your videos are awesome. Can't get any more genuine than a seagull in the studio. Keep up the awesome work! Gotta love the budget stuff!
I see that his pc was really dusty before he cleaned it. Tip: check your pc once a month or even more often so you do not get the same issue... it is really a mess starting to wash the pc when the dust is already hoarding!
I've also heard people's GPUs screaming on Crysis. Strangely enough, my GTX 260 (i don't have money to upgrade, okay) also behaves odd when i'm playing on extremely high fps. Whenever i reach close to 70 fps on some games, it starts to crash, stutter and drop frames. That's why i cap my FPS to 50 whenever i play games. Looks like these old junks weren't meant for playing games at more than 30-40 fps.
Had the GTX280’s in SLi back in the day, pretty sure I still have those cards in my attic somewhere, I have a hard time getting rid of old parts even if they’re no longer working!
Just FYI, when testing games on Skyrim I've found that the valleys are the most taxing on hardware. Somewhere between Shor's Stone and Riften is the worst spot for me.
The whining noise you heard was coil whine I believe, my corsair CX750M previous power supply did the same with my GPU under load, its normal. Radeon's R9 290 and X did it too
ohmy God, back in the old days with tremendously slow pc this was object of my deepest computer dreams. I went do HD5850 eventually the same year at it's end, but damn boi, 10 years back this was a real killer. Actually it should still work fine and I seriously dont get why people just throw it away. WTF.
I have one!, but i have the evga 2gb version, in mint condition, so minus the DX limitation it's a pretty solid card. Only other thing of small note is this card is power hungry, pulls over 200w load, so not a card for a weak psu.
You were so lucky to find that gem ! the best I had the dumpsters was a. French "Minitel" ! Btw: Why not rename your channel "Dave's Cave" I think it may suit very well :) !
If you didn't know, in the GTA V Configuration File you can force the DirectX Version to DirectX 9. I don't know if you can do that on the latest version, but it's worth giving it a shot.
Yes, Outlast is being capped to 60 fps. You can see that the cpu and gpu usage are quite low. And yeah, that horrible coil whine usually means your card is about to die.

Oh by the way, I have sent you a Twitter DM, so please check them :) Cheers.
BFG made aome wicked gtx 2xx cards. Usually alot iv seen began to artifact. After re thermaling and repading them and running them extremely hot on purpose they usualy snap out of it.
Havnt had a single issue with them after, been 4 years so far
I had an old BFG 9600GT and it ran like a beast for years before finally dying one morning after being cleaned out.
Diceman82 heck yea!
Really glad Dave got a meaningful role in this video
>2009
>$380 for a flagship GTX 285
>2018
>$700 for a flagship GTX 1080Ti
>$3000 for an intermediate card between GTX and Quadro, the Titan V
Wew, noVideo really needs some competition, AyyyMD (Rayyydeon Technology Group) doesn't seem to be in the best shape to compete with them. Maybe Outtel will do something with their GPUs, but I doubt it. I do trust their driver team more than I trust the others, but I don't trust them to do better GPUs than AyyyMD. I do hope they prove me wrong and we get some better deals.
ATI needs to rise again :D
Would love to see maybe a radeon X2xxx ...
But that will never happen. AMD will kill Radeon most likely.
Yeah GFX prices have gone up more than what the value of money hjave gone dowwn due to inflation.
I thought Dave was gonna laugh at him like that crazy seagull from "Family Guy" 😂😂
Sadly that GTX 285 is better than my current GPU. But I'm saving for a new system.
I had this card. This was the card that got me into hardware. It was in the prebuilt my mom bought me back in 2009 or 10... Good Times.
Ahead of Justin Y.

包育翔 lol he doesn't

Otherwise you will be investing even more money to make it work.
just me being annoying but you upgraded from a gddr3 gt 430 to a gddr4 450
neither card is ddr3 which used to be used for really low end models back when gddr3 was around, but when gddr3 became replaced with gddr5 (gddr4 was used in a very small amount and wasn't good so it was mostly ignored) ddr3 became the new standard for low end cards as it was I assume cheaper than gddr3.
there are no ddr5 gpus yet, though we did get the much hated and reviled ddr4 gt 1030 (not gddr4, ddr4 lol)
LOL he said ddr3 instead of gddr3 lel 9:50
Hi Champion it has ddr3. A lot of GPUs use ddrx instead of gddrx
UselessDood well this gpu has gddr3
you are thinking of the 280, hes got the 285 which does use ddr3
Joshua Minke not in this video he isnt he is actually using gddr3

I had a pair of these in SLI for years and they were awesome cards. They drew about 500 Watts at load but I didn't care. They were awesome.
That is some next level coil whine.
Also this card is way way better than what my friend used to have until about a year ago a (gt 210).
"You're in the studio, Dave" would make for a fine T-shirt slogan..
Dave is the real superstar of this channel.
superb video and what a great find!! well done
This is where it all began? I must be getting old.
What a very nostalgic card. I suddently remember Trubitar Reviews.. I wonder where he went.
5:29 trying to achieve my dreams
Xddd
I instantly knew this was a GTX280 or similar; love seeing this card out in the wild and on videos. Few knew how beastly it was in that tiny slice of time 2008 time. Though cpus were lagging behind then by a lot.
I got an original Logitech G15 Gaming keyboard for $6 Canadian at a thrift store. Only thing wrong with it is the LCD backlight no longer works.(Or it might not be receiving enough power) but for $6 I am not complaining. Checked eBay and the first original G15 I saw was going for over $90.
7:35 That guard doesn't even fucking care
They should call you the PC doctor. Gooooood stuff.
Dave deserves his own channel, RandomDaveinHD
I still have one of those. My friend used to play war thunder with it :) I also have two GTX 295 in sli in my "nostalgia" pc.. Man it was hard to find a proper 1366 board with sli.
inkinen I just built a system like that! With a nforce 790i ultra and a x5460, along with three gtx 285's in sli!
"You're in the studio, Dave" 😂😂
Dave was just posing for his own channel, DavesBeADickTips. There's only one type of video: him, being in your shots.
I see that his pc was really dusty before he cleaned it. Tip: check your pc once a month or even more often so you do not get the same issue... it is really a mess starting to wash the pc when the dust is already hoarding!
Really enjoying the longer videos. Keep up the great work!
glad you saved it. gtx200 series is still my favorite. did you de-couple the shaders from the core clock when trying to push it further?
ahh, Crysis (2),, the game that took me 6 months to complete when I was 7 with my PS3 console, a birthday present from my dad. huhu I feel nostalgic.
Always makes me smile when Dave is around, so, as usual, \o/ Dave
That garden is beautiful
had a gtx 295 in my old system. A beast. I used til 2016 when i upgraded my card with an r9 380x. Still missing that card
WTF.
2:30 Dave is searching in your fridge. I'm his twin brother. :)
Something isn't quite right in the BO1 benchmark. The gpu usage was between 40% and 60% but it was still dropping into the 40s for some reason.
That was a great card, loved it. That coil whine, I found turning on VSync would shut it up most of the time.
this is cool, but the gtx 295 is a forgotten beast. the thing stayed good for 1080p gaming till like 2012. crazy.
I was able to run crysis on an old 7300 GT AGP card on low settings in 800x600 back in the day.
Btw:
Why not rename your channel "Dave's Cave" I think it may suit very well :) !
Loving the dave cameo lol
