Emperor (Penguin) would be a cute name considering his size! His nest mate could be something coffee related due to her colouring.

The textured art print is a giclee, which is fancy archival cotton paper that is textured to look like canvas. They're usually printed using highly lightfast pigments rather than just standard inkjet inks.

I would have never considered myself a bird person, I used to have a fairly serious phobia of them! But because of you and Archie I find myself talking to pigeons when I'm out and about lol

The blue porcelain bird wall décor. If I'm not wrong there's supposed to be 2 other birds, originally wall décor like that has 3 or more different sized pieces. Might be wrong, but worth keeping an eye out for other ones in tip shops.
With the dress with the button issues you could just reset the buttonholes slightly closed more so that the buttons stay closed or get different sized buttons and sew them on to make sure that they stay on the dress.
Getting them comfortable with humans is also great because if they get sick or injured it'll be alot easier to identify and also to treat them! 🥰
You could definitely just sew the buttonholes up so they're a bit smaller. Easy fix! That might be why it was donated.

Strip the timber frame down to natural wood to get rid of the orange color! I think natural wood looks best

A thought for the empty frame...if you hung it on the wall as is but in the centre you hang a hangibg bud vase so you could put seasonal flowers in it, perhaps? 😊

Hey! I was a professional picture framer in my last career and my recommendation would be to have all your DIY fun with the frame but to get a new mat cut at a framing shop! It should be pretty cheap and you won't have to worry about destroying it -- depending on who put it together, it might be all stuck together on the inside and consequently hard to disassemble. Also, lots of materials release gases, acids and stuff over time, so painting the mat could result in staining of the art and fogging of the glass.
I love the baby birds. They are adorable.
Penguin is adorable! By far my fave of the bunch, he seems super laid back and chill (so far!) Penguin suits for the chill vibes and look he has, let him keep the name!

For the frame, I've seen folk put them up as part of picture walls! You could spray it to jazz it up if you like, and just hang it as is. (Thats what I'd do!) 💗💗🏴
PS i have a top in the same material as that gorgeous gold dress. Hand sew the areas you need to stay closed, so you dont need to worry about it popping open! Its stretchy, so you should be able to still get it on. HTH!

Also edit: I would stain the bird painting frame a bit darker, but you could also remove the varnish and revarnish it matte!

I had a bare metal oval frame too. I made a back backing and glued dried clematis blooms. And moss all along the bottom. So it's 3D in a way. Was a fun addition to my gallery wall.

Ok Alex I have many suggestions about the bird trio. What I would do is (if you go back and look when you held up the darker blue bird on your wall how nice that looked) paint the mat a darker blue. You could even take the same wall paint and just add a touch of a darker blue or black to give it depth and paint the mat that. For the frame if you wanted to keep the timber, since it's a warm shade it would be fine. But if you want to jazz it up and make it a bit older looking to match the older prints. I would not just paint it gold, it would look just as good in a matte gold. But for me instead I would give it a base of either a bronze, black or white and then use a gold crackle spray paint on top. It will give it a more antique feel. Also for the dress because it wants to pop open. Don't fight it, wear either a cream or black lace bralette under and let it be open. To combat the length for summer I do a black leather short skirt, or winter I'd do a thick tight with high boots. Or leggings and short boots and add a long cardigan. I hope my thoughts were not to exhausting! 😅

Well, obviously the brittish grey bird is already named. Nugget. I think the penguin looks like a Milo. The twins are Prudence and Priscilla (or Millicent and Mildred). The fan-cy bird (pun intended) could be a Percy or Harold or Earl Grey, like the tea. He looks a bit noble.

The baby pigeons are adorable. The twins were funny when left alone. The seated one was pecking at the bird sculpture while the standing one looked on very disapprovingly. You might have to edit it down, if the birds are simply staring at the camera for 45 minutes😉. The empty metal frame could be used to showcase one of Alex's bird images. In fact a whole wall of thrifted antique frames containing those images would be a great wall decoration and showcase for her art. The thrifted ruched top (?dress?) is pretty, but is a fashion emergency waiting to happen...so layer layer layer if worn in public!

The green picture mat is likely acidic. Over time it will degrade and discolour the paper print/painting it is protecting. Acid free mount board is the way to go instead, you can get large sheets for not a lot and an angled mount cutter for not much more and customise your own. If you arent precious about the prints then of course it doesnt matter!
Be careful painting the mat though as it will likely stick to the glass when you reasssemble it and create a funny looking texture. Gloss paint will be worse for this, you may get away with matt if it is put on super smoothly i.e. not with a brush.
