honey is self preserving but it does not act as a preservative. however, as this is a waterless recipe, no preservative is needed. most trained aromatherapists also suggest not using any essential oils on children under 2. though the amount used here is so minimal i'm sure its ok. i am a cosmetics maker, so i'm familiar with a lot of this. congratulations on your upcoming birth. i hope you have a safe and problem free delivery.

I also recommend spot testing. I’m very allergic to chamomile and lavender gives me severe migraines so then I not only would want to make sure I wasn’t allergic to what I put on my baby, but also that my baby isn’t allergic to it either.

Calendula, oat, carrot and essential oils always at the end of The heating process. Their healty Properties would be preserved better 😉

My sister in law just had a baby. I think I’ll make this for her as a Christmas gift.
If you do, check that there's no family history of allergies to any of the ingredients, and that she's ok with the essential oils for the baby. Some parents don't mind it (and Lavander and Roman Chamomile are about as mild and gentle as you can go) but some would prefer no essential oils at all.

This is very interesting! Question I've heard lavender is irritating to the skin, is that just to the face?
Lol, who on earth told you that? Lavender is supposed to calm irritated skin. Unless you have some sort of an adverse reaction, lavender is great for your skin, definitely shouldn't be irritating.
lavender is one of the few oils that can be safely applied "neat" (or without a carrier oil) to the skin. however, people can be allergic to anything, including the air and the sun. so it should be testing in a small area and used with moderation.
