Ivano revealed two things: his greatness, and how inept committees are.
That’s so true. Probably any member of this committee would’ve done better in a regular simultaneous exhibition.
It's not really a committee. A committee would mean that the players consult on every move and choose the consensus move. Playing in this manner means that the combined strength is lower than that of the weakest player. So, the strength is not 9000 or whatever as Agad claims, but it is lower than the rating of the lowest player!
@@ravivaradhan4956 It's not lower than the worst player. If you play a game where a computer alternately plays half of your moves, does your rating go up or down? Up, obviously.
@@NeilGirdharnot always true: it depends on whether the player is more skilled than the computer.
@@davidwhite2949seems obvious enough I agree
This is the kid at the chess club everyone keeps an eye on and the last opportunity to beat him was two years ago. We'll be seeing more of him.
Actually, 4 years ago I just started playing chess online and went to local chess club. The guy, coach whom I've known for a while because as a reporter I wrote some articles about chess club, told me to come earlier to learn some theory. There I saw this small fellow (Ivano) and he was taught "windmill" theory. Every move that coach asked him to find, he found it. Something that I was astonished because I couldn't see the moves.
Small tournament was held later and Ivano beat me. :)
He's such a smart, polite, humble and kind kid. All the best for Ivano and we all hope in our small city that we will get GM. :)
The title is the greatest flex one can ever have
Not bigger than Judit though 🤌
@@kahanesque age is a talk too!
@@imporie That's also true
Ivano played a brillient game there, he definitely has a future in Chess
Unless Carlsen and Hikaru will go after him accusing him of cheating like they did it to Hans. Unfortunately influencers are protecting the top chess spots for themselves and don't allow better players to go ahead of them.
@@vaibhav17S10 You should know there is a lot of politics in chess unfortunately. This is true in many world class competitions. In reality Carlsen and Hikaru are not among top 10 players not even among top 20 players in the world. They just have so much power in the chess world that can deal with any serious competition.
@@vaibhav17S10 Carlsen and other privileged players are trying to remove the best players from competing with them for the top places in the chess world. As soon as they recognize someone might take one of the top spots they try to discredit him as cheater.
@@tongobong1 Hans discredited himself as a cheater.
@@tongobong1Carlson destroyed Hans 3-1. Even other pros called out Hans for making erratic moves.
8:54 ..."No self respecting Grand Master will repeat the move and go back to where it came from"
I can think of several cases where a Karpov piece went back where it came from.
@@DieFlabbergast Then surely he must be playing against some GM and not against a 1900 rated teen
It's bad to make a mistake. It's worse not to admit to a prior mistake.
Surely there are situations where a GM would move a piece to provoke a response (say a pawn push) from the opponent that weakens their position, and the intention was always to move the piece back.
@@pineapplesareyummy6352alphazero did that against stockfish. Might not be the best move but might give you the highest chances to throw off the other player
Savage attack!! What a player! Good luck young man.
What beautiful play, especially with the pressure of playing against all those legends
Ivano doesn't make the eye contact while shaking hands... true warrior...
Isn’t it braver and more noble to make eye contact?
@@nrspinelliin chess it is not, look at the world chess championships, they never look each other in the eyes
@@dragomiholic2271 i wonder why though… it seems like a cowardly thing not to look someone in the eyes. In many cultures it is shameful people who don’t wanna look others in the eye, cus they don’t want people to see them
@@nrspinelliYou're right. In normal conversation is important to make eye contact. But, when you're playing chess, as soon as the game is over, you would very much love to go home and sleep or grab a coffee to ease the brain since it was overloaded during the thinking process in the game and that's the reason why people hurry to leave the chess environment and vaguely shake hands before leaving to not offend anyone.
@nrspinelli because there is a lot going on. And the energy is massive and could ruin your focus and inner peace.
I say this as a person who played otb chess tournaments.
Assuming that the 8 or 9 GM walk in circle without never passing each other, there should be a fix order in which they make the moves. And by looking at the board on each picture at the beginning of the video, it should be possible to know tge order.
The only unknown is if Kasparov made only the first move, or if he also turned on the following moves.
Lol 🤣
"Unleash the bish" and "nasty bishop" 😅
Great game.... This kid is on his way to greatness. Furure champion 🙂
"Tricky Knight"
or
"Tricky Knights"
Those would make nice Chess gear slogans. With an image of a knight.
Maybe a nice team name, club name, or tournament name.
That a4 move is insanely sophisticated for a child.
The really good kids are now growing up playing against engines. They are going to play very much like engines as adults.
@@inthefade A very good point. When he played A4, I thought, "He's following what Alpha Zero taught us."
Stunning game! Seems that Croatia will soon gain an elite player. I look forward to see this kid's career unfold. Cheers!
We will watch his career with great interest -- Magnus Palpatine
And then USA will take him :)
@@rohondas2179 I can already see this happen, Unless Croatia will fund this kid generously
@@rinderurulade5785 I don't think it'll happen. I'm not saying Croatia can not fund but I think they will not be interested because in croatia, the chess culture is not as big as the big 4 competitors (USA, Russia, India, China).
@@rohondas2179 Its the same with my country(philippines) but we have Wesley So, Our government doesnt want to support him thats why he went abroad
Kids are the best at destroying adult players, more games of them, please! Congratulations to Ivano!
Alexander Zajogin has won from the position after 6...a5 in the German Bundesliga (see Klein-Zajogin (2022)). Similarly, not only does the position after 8...d6 have multiple high level games, the position after 10...0-0 has also been reached many times such as Cramling-Panno (1994) and Niemann-Quparadze (2022), both of which continued 11. Qc2. Other players in this position have chosen 11. b3 and 11. Qa4, while the position after 11. Bc3 was reached by transposition in Koch-Timman (2017). I have not found an example of 11 Re1 though, so that would be the proper point for "a completely new game".
The saying "2 brains better than 1" doesn't apply to a lot of areas, Chess clearly being 1 of them. Any 1 of the GCT players could beat all the participants comfortably but clearly, playing together doesn't work...
Bad example. Each move is made by one person. Although they all played moves, only one person played at a time so there was no benefit to having multiple people play the same game
@@jgone4856thats what they’re saying
It is a twist on simultaneously playing but I like the idea. Imagine if one of the player decided to go king e2 haha 😄
@@jgone4856yea but the calculations and estimations of each grandmaster differs.
Kasparov likes to attack and create attacking chances even in desperate positions, not every player has that style.
So yes it does conflict with each player's goal with the particular position.
@@ArthKryst aren't we in agreement? My point is that this isn't an example of 2 brains are better than 1 failing because the 2 brains aren't collaborating. Let them collaborating and you'll see the benefit of having 2 brains vs 1
Great game of this very young boy!
I really appreciate Antonio's content. I noticed he doesn't push the 'like and subscribe' too often and is here to give us all excellent analysis on the game of chess. Isen't that a wonderful idea! a kind of reverse simul. This young lad will, no doubt, be across the board from them over the next few years many times. Thanks Agad.
I had to check if it was April Fools when I read the title. Kid took the cake! Compared to him I'm like a Gorilla who knows sign language.
At least you know sign language. That would be a step up for me.
@@Draconisrex1 It wasn't literal. I don't know sign language. But hey, we can read and write and gorillas can't do that! I just meant I'm nowhere near as smart as this kid.
Over 9000! Agad is the best for using this reference! A man of true class
I think giving up the exchange at 12:35 might have worked (draw).
It would also come with a pawn (maybe two) from the Qa4 capture, and the double attck on c4.
Wonderful! Good for Ivano. This is exciting.
The entire gct team members mustve been like “ what da heck was dat last move magnus” then ali comes next, “ damn fabi that move was rubbish”, then garry comes n is like “such noob moves by these other guys” then ian comes and is like “what a mess of a position that we played” 🤣🤣🤣
Then comes and is like “This is hopeless, I wanna play this myself” 🤣🤣🤣
Imagining them just clowning each other every move is so fucking funny.
Very good Game Ivano!
Thanks for the nice commentary as always Agadmator!
What an amazing honor to beat--er--meet all of those fine chess players.
I played Ivano in Dubrovnik this weekend and his understanding of the game is insane. I was a bit better from the middle game and thought I was gonna win easily since kid his age "does not have enough games played and experience", but the ways he found some ideas is astonishing, he completley outplayed me in the endgame and I lost the game. I did not know who he was, had to search him because I felt smth was off with him, I was glad I have found this, now I feel a bit better about my loss 🙂
Svaka cast mladom igracu ivanu, pokazo Im je Kako se igra 😁😎 bravo 😊
KEEP UP BRO! i'm happy for ur sucess... hope one day i stop struggling with life and find a fullfilling occupation like yours look like...
Awesome game. Loved his style of play
Brilliant game, what a great day for him. I wish you well for your future and hope your love of chess only progresses!
As with all strong young players, Ivano is most likely highly underrated and probably already around 2200-2300 ELO strength. Plus tandem-simuls give you a slight mini chance to prevail if the „weakest link“ on the other side underperforms in a critical position. On the other hand when all your opponents are super GM it’s, no matter what, a great achievement and something you remember for the rest of your life. On a side note it would be cool if someone has the performance rating of both sides for this game and who actually made the two inaccuracies.
What a thing to be able to relate to your friends in the library! (He's too young to be in the bar.)
Not the juice bar.
Magnus walking on water and nodirbirk going for some brilliancy both game were really nice hope we had a final event with this 2 playing eachother
Incredible, congratulations Ivano
Which member of the team made the first mistake? 🤔
That's what I want to know? What absolute legend threw Qc2 out just to troll the other grand masters?
@@thesuperjacobshow8151a council of grandmasters lost to a child?
"Here you see how much he understands chess. He fights against pawn b4 move" ahahhahahah
This 10 year old kid makes me wonder why I play chess.
Makes me smile. Thank you.
What a game and what an experience for the young man!
Would be interesting to see an analysis of the lost games by tge GCT team themselves.
There might have been situations where a) one of them starts some combination / positional idea, but the next guy does not see it and continues in a different direction
b) situations where the playera are aware of the aforementioned possibility and the order they play in, thus they account for their different styles and don't go for the top replies based on their own style (e.g. if I am an attacker but the guy after me is a positional player, I might refrain from sacking a piece which I would do if playing alone)
Are you planning analyze more games from this simul? They had to be very interesting
Combined rating cannot be added. It's like two sunny days having 50% likelihood - that doesn't mean it's 100% certain that one day will be sunny.
He knows that. Jeez. Some people here have no sense of humor at all.
Bro has top tier Résumé
A crushing game! 😊
To be fair it's not easy to play a game when you're not the one making 90% of the moves. Different players, different playstyles, different ideas.. Props to the kid, but I do think it would have been much different if he had played any one of them individually for the entire game ;)
There is a saying in pashto..
"ډيرو قصابانو کې غوا مرداره شي. "
Which roughly means that in many butchers the cow become a mess.
Here is what exactly happened in this game. 😂😂
There is a Croatian saying: "Puno babica kilavo dijete", which roughly translates to "Lot of midwives lousy child" :D
Aww...🥺
Nice of them to let the young guy have a crack at it🙌🏽
The quote you have at the top, which says "The game of chess is lake in which a mosquito can bathe and a elephant can drown" is based on a Medieval text from Pope Gregory I, who lived from about 540 to 604 A.D. In a commentary on the book of Job, he describes scripture as follows: "One might say it is like a river, calm and deep, in which the lamb wades and the elephant swims" (Quasi quidam quippe est fluvius, ut ita dixerim, planus et altus, in quo et agnus ambulet et elephas natet).
Absolutely wonderful game played by Ivan! Congratulations!!
So, was it a single game by Ivano; where a stream of masters took turns as opposition? I wasn't really clear on that.
That picture is so damn cute.2:40
Nice dbz reference with the rating 😂
He smothered them with pawns, I love it
A sequence of grand masters is only as good as its weakest link. This result shows that playing with a strategy is fairly important.
Ivano understands the importance of B4 square/ He has a future
what a talented kid :D
great achievement!
Wow genius are born every
Great game!
“Well over 9000” - ha, love the DBZ reference you made there!

Hello Antonio. A #suggestion: what do you think in adding players time on screen? It will help us to better evalute each players time, how much time a move took and if a move was made in time pressure.

Goes to show how in chess as in business, if you try to particion work in ways that are not reasonable then too chefs will spoil the broth... just cook it yourself / leave it to the expert and take time to do it right.

Just for trolling kasparov, the gm before him should have kept their pieces hanging on their last move, and watched kasparov either suffering or resigning.
Lol if I went second I would've entered the bongcloud and just watch as all the top players try to defend the position
Or they could've suffocated Kasparov to death(mate)
Someone needs to add Hikaru to the GCT team so he can troll with random bongcloud and other bullshit to piss off everyone.

Was White's d5 move a blunder?
It seems you just lose the pawn without any clear compensation. After taking Black's d5 pawn looks tough to defend, but even if you got it back eventually it would just have a trade. What was the idea?

What an accomplishment. How many players can boast such luminaries in their list of players they defeated. I wonder who among the team would be rated as the most popular? I would think it is Vishy.
Due to the sheer scale of the internet using Indians, I would say Vishy.
Im Swedish and Vishy is my favourite player. It is nice to see an older player still playing well, and he is such a gentleman.
"He played this game like he was Tal + Petrosian... plus Fisher, so basically as he was Magnus himself".
What a line ❤
why? magnus was never even the WC or rapid despite being 5x WCC, 4x rapid WCC, 6x blitz WCC but i kinda see
magnus - ra()st against jewish or american players like how bobby ra()st against israeli & US governments
magnus - cheater like tigran V petrosian who cheated bobby fischer
magnus - idk how magnus is like mikhail tal. magnus sucks at middlegames given how good magnus is at endgames but how bad magnus is at 9LX
