The last three separate news segments had an HOA install a vehicle boot on someone's work truck, had an HOA use a selfie stick to take pictures over the fence of people's backyards, and lease someone's home while they were still living there.
We moved into a new to us house last June. We looked at a large number of homes before making a final decision. Almost immediately, we decided to NOT buy a house for the simple reason it was in an HOA community. I would NEVER own a home where someone ELSE had something to say about how high my fence would be, or when I was "permitted" to fly an American flag.

But, the HOA where we live really only covers keeping the trees up around the homes to keep a woodland character to the neighborhood. There are provisions about not operating ATVs, and seasonal subletting, but those aren't enforced.

This happened in Tallahassee! How can something like this happen 1 hour where I live. I know that there is a lot of Snowflakes that get offended by the American flag in Tallahassee. And it's his right to put the flag on his mail box not the homeowners Association.
They want uniformity in the neighborhood, all black mailboxes, it's not the flag it could've been any design.
It’s not about the flag specifically, but an umbrella rule banning all markers on mailboxes.
If you value true freedom never move into any place ruled by an HOA!
Not only are we legally allowed to proudly fly the flag, but this dude’s a FREAKIN VET for God’s sakes! He definitely has the right to fly it since he fought for our country! As far as I’m concerned, the flag rightfully stays where it is!
Now days, if you put your "Country Flag" on a mailbox consider as "Racist..., Fascist..., and White"...! Very interesting period of time we are living in...

He should try and get a whole bunch of other people to put up the same mailbox.
The HOA really should back off. They haven't done a thing about this mailbox for 4 years, and suddenly it's an aesthetic problem. If they proceed, they will incur some very negative PR which could ultimately affect their bottom line. They would be wise to let it go.
HOA is out of control.
Again......living under an HOA was the first mistake. If you want to live under an HOA, just rent a home from a landlord. Almost the exact same thing. Why someone would spend $200,000 + dollars ON TOP of fees you have to pay to the HOA to tell you what to do with your property, is far beyond me.
OMG But they do nothing to the mobs that burn the flag on a regular basis! I swear the world has flipped over.

If they made a new rule after the flag rap was installed it has to be excepted. It is un Constitutional to make retroactive laws.

This isn't a liberal thing, In Florida they have big developments where an association decides on all the colors. They want all the houses to look the same
I'd never thought I would ever live to see even half of things gone to hell in this country that I have.
We must ALL fight the good fight individually, and collectively day & night - or our kids & grandkids won't stand a chance!
Otherwise, America & Americans will have become extinct.
