women: this generation of men all needed therapy
men: these guys are so cool
Well, we see just how healthy men are these days.
Gen X love that generation of men❤
We are doing just fine 🙂
The golden standard of the Buddy Cop genre. The whole franchise is worth checking out
it IS that.
After loss it’s incredibly important for grieving people to know that they’re not alone. Murtaugh and his family really save Riggs. It’s beautiful.
This movie redefined the buddy action film, Gibson and Glover have better chemistry than most married couples 😂
It's better cause you marry just for the mortgage
@@HABO2210 'murica = Whole planet?
Lethal Weapon 2 is JUST as good as this one. Definitely worth doing a reaction to. :)
One of the best sequels ever that for some reason gets left out of “best sequel “ conversations.
And the reveal (l won’t spoil for our reactors) is heartbreaking.
@@Viglin123 I was just thinking the same thing. Whenever someone starts a conversation about "sequels that are just as good or better than the original" people always bring up Aliens and Terminator 2, but no one ever brings up Lethal Weapon 2, which I think is much better than the (still good) original.
I used to prefer LW2 over 1, it's an incredible sequel. But over the years I've come to appreciate how strong the first one is, it really is a perfect film. The only knock I have against 2 is that it kind of makes the tension of Riggs' suicidal nature in the first half of LW1 redundant, because we know he's going to survive, but imo it's worth it. Love Joss Ackland and Derrick O'Connor's villains too.
absolutely. I've always considered it one of the only sequels that's actually actually good. opinion on this kinda thing varies, and there's a lotta films I haven't seen, but empire strikes back, lotr, this... star trek II the wrath of khan.... not much else. oh, the dark knight of course.
@@highstimulation2497 Terminator 2 & Godfather 2, are also gold standards among sequels. There's others, of course.
The Lethal Weapon series never gets old to me. Y’all have been watching a lot of my favorites lately
Trust me you guys want to watch the whole franchise. It's incredible. I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it
This whole series (all 4 movies) is about character development and evolution. Absolutely one of the best movie series in history. A fantastic story about both Riggs and Murtaugh, and their growth together as "family".
Because of my own personal history (I was widowed in 2006, and subsequently went through an "I don't care if I live or die" period, before learning how to just "get on with life"), I identify more with Riggs than Murtaugh, but I have to say, the way they go from being "forced partners", to being "family" is great storytelling. All 4 movies tell that story, in a very natural progression of relationships and story. More characters are added as the story goes along, but I highly recommend watching all 4 movies. Taken in context, I don't think y'all will be disappointed in the story's progression.
You are in for an amazing ride. All four movies are great. This is my favorite cop tandem. And all four are definite rewatches.
YES! This wisdom is why you are the chosen one! I marathon these once a year. I commented on their over editing but these ladies are fun! ☮️
Fun facts: the name Martin means “martial” or “soldier” and Murtaugh is an archaic word meaning “navigator.” Their names refer to what they needed to be for each other. Roger Murtaugh was a navigator for Martin Riggs during a difficult time when Martin needed a North Star to guide him. Martin was a soldier when Roger needed one to help him save his daughter. They both literally saved each others’ lives by being who they are.
Oh wow. That's a powerful insight.
Freaking Awesome! As if I didn't love these movies enough already!! ☮️
Please, please watch the whole series... you won't regret it.
their friendship and chemistry on-screen only builds higher and higher with each movie, definitely check out the sequels
This series is one of the few where all the movies are just as good. Most series start falling off, but these movies keep the high quality.
You skipped the jumper scene?!!!!!!! WTFFF???
Danny Glover has great screen presence! Always makes any movie better!
WTF do _you_ know about generations of men? 🤨
Stay in your lane.
For real. I was just skipping through the video to see them react to that specific bit xD
Please continue with the franchise. So good and the relationships are amazing!
Best buddy cop film ever. Gibson and Glover's chemistry was second to none. Gibson really nailed this role and deserved a Best Actor nomination. Totally agree to your points about the Murtaugh family. They felt like a real family and not some forced, manufactured, cookie-cutter Hollywood family. For example, the 2 younger kids doing that rap to mock their older sister's crush on Riggs felt natural and funny.
Their chemistry was second to none when it started, but it felt forced by #3 let alone #4.
This movie is so great. You’re never too old to watch this shit for the first time!
Steph over calling Mel Gibson Lethal weapon and talking mad ish had me rolling...😆😂🤣
Oh ladies…what is the point of hand to hand combat? Black Widow, La Femme Nikita, Sydney Bristow…they’d get it 😂😉
you would not survived the 70's or 80's if this bothers you
80s were better than now 😅
Who you telling.
Who you telling
I have watched many reactions to this movie and I am always amazed at how people don't understand why the fight at the end between Riggs and Joshua had to happen. Like, hasn't the final "mano a mano" battle between protagonist and villain been a standard trope of stories since...forever? No you can't "just shoot him"! Where is the drama and tension and victory in that???
And also, I always thought it was implied that the two of them had beef since the war (if not personally then between their factions) which is why Riggs challenged if Joshua wanted "another shot at the title". At which point you have to take him down personally to show total humiliation and defeat.
I wish more of the humour would have made it into this reaction too. It's not just about Riggs being Lethal. His personality and charm really matter as well.
Nah it's really about how the times have changed (for the better). It's funny now looking at shit like this, but back then that kind of macho bullshit was serious and people ate it up. But in the end...it's just macho bullshit. Perfectly understandable modern generation doesn't "get it". They've evolved past it :)
@@hadoken95times changed and people and society got soft. I prefer my action films from the 80s; tough guys, bullets and none PC! This movie isn't for these two reactors.
@@hadoken95you mean people have turned into pussys
@@hadoken95 The modern generation has not evolved past it, they just do it in a different way. The moderne generation fight for online status and cancel each other on social media. Don't worry, the modern generation after you will change it up again and claim to have evolved past you.
Riggs didn't say "you want another shot at the title?"
He said "you want a shot at the title?"
Can’t believe they didn’t show the best scene in the movie. When they were at the shooting gallery oh well 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
And Riggs talking to the jumper
Die Hard, Gremlins and Lethal Weapon are my top 3 Christmas movies
Yeeees.
Mel's scene in the trailer where he's contemplating killing himself is the most powerful scene he's ever done IMO. So dark and sad, it's such a pivotal scene to see the true pain his character is going through. Amazing performance.
And it took him days to get in the headspace to do that scene.
I know it’s on patreon, but us lowly CZcams viewers are disappointed that some really great character parts were edited out! Anyway, great reaction. I recommend the entire series. They’re all great in their own way and excellent when viewed as a whole tetralogy.
You're right..i just startet and i really missed the complete jumper scene. Saw better edited versions. I know, its CZcams..i'm odinary subcriber..damn, i faggin hate patreon...
@@stefanstock953 Yep. That whole scene and the “you really are crazy” part really drive the character development and I think was important to make the YT edit for us to see the reactions.
@@te1013 exactly..i had to step back from reaction videos..i think they lost slowly their magic..i felt in love with such a great idea of a content bout 3-4 years ago. i feel its not bout the reaction itself anymore..more and more idiots stepped on that train and its gets worst. It had to come so, people and their greed..its quite only bout getting views, getting YT buttons, reaching for donations, getting patreons, its kinda sad...movie reactions now, on YT, feels like clickbaits, teasing you and than ditch you, with an evil smile they tell you.."if you wanna see the full reaction, become a patreon, for only 8 bucks a month...nope, thats it..i go back to the good old eighties. No smartphones, no social media, no scams, no cyber mobbing, no sick tikfock where every sick motha can upload sick shit, no karens, no worldstarrr....NO NOISE..back to nature and be free...thats where i belong...stay safe, buddy PEACE
YES! I just watched and mentioned the over editing. I suggested to view the POPCORN 🍿 IN BED CHANNEL and their edit and the scenes; New partner introduction, The jumper scene and RIGGS sniper speach. ☮️
@@stefanstock953 It aint that bad man. Brighten up!
really enjoyed this movie and reaction. I was disappointed some of the best parts edited out in beginning and we as men delt with things and moved on. Maybe a handful needed therapy but most of us just moved on, raised great families and become men not males :-))
5 minutes in and I'm already annoyed by the lecture I'm getting from the woman in the green jacket. Yes, yes I know Western society is bad. I'm a toxic loser who needs therapy. And life for you women isn't fair. Okay, now on with the reaction...
It's almost like when these girls try to lecture behaviors from the past about them being better than others it just comes across as this generation is so judgemental and critical of everything that doesn't fit in their right behavior box
Also what makes all of the LW movies so enjoyable is that the banter between Riggs and Murtough are completely Ad-libbed and unchscripted which should tell a lot about how much they stayed in character... The only time they said a line was only to fit what the story was about..
What most people forget is both Murtaugh and Riggs were both Vietnam Veterans! They just served different years and are separated by a dozen years in Age! 🙄🤨😎
Fun reactions from the CinePals, for the first and best Lethal Weapon movie.
RIP Richard Donner.
BEST non-traditional Christmas movie. Better than Die Hard.
Little alrming discovery i found out about gary busey: in 1988 he had a serious motorcylce accident he was pronounced dead for two hours and came back 💪 dude is a true survivor and legend of hollywood, he really doesnt get praised enough. People are so quick to call him batshit crazy without taking the time to understand what he's been through. Great reaction ladies 💯💯
Yall gotta watch 1-4 now ladies
I hope you will watch them all because they're all good!
I think I'm liking this channel more and more. Y'all are reacting to all the good stuff. Keep it up!!😂😂😂
I don't think society has shaped our definition of what is beauty as much as our sight has.
The daughter looks 17 but she was 27 when the movie was made.
Damn I didn't know that
PLEASE BOTH YOU GUYS COME BACK FOR 2-4 PLEASE 🙏
YOU GUYS WILL LOVE THE ENTIRE SERIES.
I think, yes me. (Not all of you) That Lethal Weapon just get better and better as they go. I LOVE all 4 of them.
The girl playing Mourtough’s daughter was only three years younger than Mel Gibson in real life😂
It's a great series. They are really worth watching.
Thank you ladies next time Lethal Weapon 2, 3 and 4
All 4 movies are definitely worth wathing!
I really enjoy the TV show too! I was bummed it didn't last longer.
Saw at the theater! Classic? Again going to the movies every week back then was such a fun time! Thanks Y’all!
If Kristen was wearing Steph's jacket the universe might implode. 😳
Women: of today what is the point of hand to hand combat: me welcome to the 80s!
Oh wow, just found you ladies today. And to start with Lethal Weapon?! You made my day. You must watch all four, this is back when they knew how to do sequels. Each is better than the last.
80’s violence is a different genre lol.
They set the standard for buddy cop and action movies. All four films are character driven and deal with some real dark subject's Murtaugh as a hardworking protective father and husband and Riggs as a pain and rage filled shell of a man limping along on duty alone. The are both such sympathetic characters who make you love them very quickly.
You guys totally need to watch the rest awesome reaction guys!😊
It's a little more than just a "buddy cop" movie. They are family films. Watch them all!
This and 48 hours. Best buddy cop movie. A long shor 3rd is james caan Alien Nation.
THE FIRING RANGE SCENE! YOU CUT OUT THE BEST SCENE! 😂
Richard Donner is a great director he directed so many good movies like Superman,The Omen, Assassins, Mawerick and so many others. 😊
His one weakness was background/secondary dialog and ADR.
“Don’t call him ‘Lethal Weapon’ if we’re not gonna get lethal!”
Me: Oh, just wait 😂
Die hard and lethal weapon were the greatest Christmas movies of all time
Long kiss goodnight and The ref
Danny Glover was actually 40 years old when he did this movie!
50 in the movie ha ha.
Brings a joy to my heart to see you guys watching some 'classics'. I put that in quotes b/c I tend to think of actual classics as being older, like Casablanca and the like. But, these are getting on in years, too, and am happy to see you guys give these a... whirl... and if you like them, great. If not, there are still plenty of others that you guys might.
Pause just right at 28:52 ... effing hilarious! We love watching yall. And yes, this is a Christmas classic for the whole family. LOL
gotta watch them all now looking forward to you seeing LW2 with the Late Joss Ackland RIP
Whole franchise is must see. Enjoy the journey
I hope you guys watch all 4 films. 2 is definitely the best, but all 4 are really solid films.
FYI *SHADOW COMPANY* WAS A REAL THING GOING ON DURING THE LADDER PARTS OF THE VIETNAM WAR.... One thing through each of the sequels is how each movie takes what was going on in current events during those years.
It makes sense because the Iran-Contra affair/scandal had been in the news.
This series is awesome! In my opinion, 2 is the best, and I LOVE 4 (many people don’t agree with me here). Everyone has a different opinion though.
There is a great pre-Lethal buddy flick FREEBIE AND THE BEAN...complete fun and madness. Highly recommended
"Those were some coke flips" hahaha
Lethal Weapon, the second best Christmas movie. The first being Die Hard.
YESSSSSSSSSSS! So Glad y'all are doing this franchise. One of my favorites franchises and Lethal Weapon...Yes I say it, IS a Christmas movie. Ha!
Shane Black wrote this & directed Iron Man 3! Maybe that's why that helicopter attack on the house at a sea cliff looked so familiar!
He was also in Predator as Hawkins-the guy that wore glasses.
Wow Kristine. That smile at the beginning just brightened up my screen. Love the vids, you ladies are great!
He didn't do the coke. In the script it says he dumped in his hand and tossed it in the bushes.
It's a fantastic film and it's always worth a re-watch whenever I see it on TV. It's also one of the most consistent film series out there, IMO, with the real-life friendship between Gibson and Glover being the glue that keeps it all together.
I hope you'll continue the series.
When the black kid said his mom said that cops shoot black people, 1 it's true and 2 you can see the other black cop look to the side like " yeah his mom is right cops do shoot black people
Great reaction! I always love watching people react to this movie and Mel Gibson as Riggs. He’s so great in this. Everyone is. The entire series is incredible. Riggs and Murtaugh is a friendship for the ages. Gold standard, as someone said.
Very surprised to see this on here but also extremely happy, love these movies soooo much!!!!
The whole series is FANTASTIC👍👍👍.
They do a brief team up in, Maverick!
Lethal Weapon II is the best one in the series but the others are good.
It's the end of the fight, Murtagh is screaming for Riggs to kill the bad guy, and Riggs realizes just what kind of influence he's had on Murtagh.
That was the whole point.
6:45 Anthony Kiedis (from Red Hot Chili Peppers) Dad
Gotta see the rest relatively soon, don't wait too long, LW2 was a great sequel, perhaps the best one, LW3 wasn't that good but worth watching, and LW4 is a nice wrap up of the series. 🤔
Thank you, and just wait until you see 2, and 4.
I'll put the 4 Lethal Weapon movies against any 4 movies of any franchise. The great thing is they get better along the way.
RIIIIIIIIIGSSSSS!!!!!!!
That is all.
Mel Gibson reminds me of Wolverine and would've been perfect for the character👍
that was one of the best reactions of this film 👏. i especially liked how you pointed out the part where Riggs answers (truthfully) on whether he liked murtaugh's wife's cooking - that showed me you gals were on a different level lol. honestly, i didn't think two ladies would understand the dynamic of two dudes better than other dudes
Lethal Weapon 2, 3 and 4 are great also and all the die hard movie's are good too
he was proving a point that mr joshua was loyal to him
Fun Fact: For the movie Mel Gibson was trained to fight and in particular how to do a triangle choke (the technique where he wraps his legs around a man’s neck) by Rorion Gracie who is the patriarch of the Gracie family which invented Gracie Jiu-Jitsu , the most commonly used and effective form of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It’s still used to this day in UFC and other MMA organizations.
Not so fun fact: Every time Gibson "fires" his gun, he closes his eyes. Impressive shooting for being blind when pulling the trigger.
@@Barovian20 yeah it’s something that I always point out when I see it in movies or tv shows. When “hardened badasses” blink when firing their guns.
You both said you love the family, so I can pretty much guarantee you will enjoy the rest of the movies and even the TV show. The family is integral to the entire franchise in wonderful ways.
They made a mistake in adding the girl on the left to this channel.
There are 4 of these and they only get better. The family story expands across all of them.
Mel Gibson is directing the fifth one called Lethal Finale
You have only watched chapter 1 of the Lethal Weapon movie. To complete the story, you must watch all 4. They are not "sequels" but continuation of the same story with further character development and even added loved characters. I encourage you to finish the movie.
The screenplay was written by Shane Black which was his first sold screenplay at 23 years old in '85. He was Hollywood's first rock-n-roll screenwriter. His buddy cop reinvention update at the time started a modern genre craze of two mismatched partners thrown together to solve that films' mcguffin or mystery box, if you will, and that 80's trend has never gone away. Black went on to do future at the time instant classics such as 1991's Bruce Willis neo-noir in coke The Last Boy Scout, Geena Davis as the original Jason Bourne, gender-reversed amnesiac assassin in '96's The Last Kiss Goodnight with Samuel L. Jackson, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with a just pre-Iron Man's Robert Downey Jr. showing his incredible acting chop range playing the anti-Tony Stark teamed with Val Kilmer which is a must-see and The Nice Guys from 2014 starring Ryan Gosling as his greatest cinematic comedic creation put to screen who steals every scene he's in joined by Russell Crowe in a caper set at the just tail end of the late 70's to, what else?, solve a crime. Also a must-see. Shane Black rules pretty hard.
This is the greatest cop action thriller ever. The sequels are terrific as well. I remember seeing number 4 in the theater and having a total blast. I hope you ladies watch them all.
Got 3 more to check out.Even better, with the introduction of a character called Leo Getz.
