Uma thurman’s performance is so criminally underrated. She was capable of portray all this wide range of emotions while being an action star at the same time. It was ahead of its time
It wasn't underrated at all plenty of actresses took this movie and her acting as an acting point..it inspired plenty of female based action protagonist type movies till date
@@rajbiswas9077 i think even with the praise she gets still underrated lol. Its one the of the best movies and performances ever not just from women
Kill Bill is poetry. Beatrix first slays O'Ren, a crime boss which Beatrix could have been had she stayed with Bill. Then, she slays Vernita, a happy homemaker in the suburbs living the life Beatrix could have had if Bill hadn't attacked the wedding rehearsal. She can't kill Bud, Bill's brother, because he's a stand-in for Bill himself and history repeats. Elle, who is essentially Beatrix while she worked for Bill (blonde femme fatale in a sexual relationship with Bill), kills Bud similarly to how Beatrix's betrayal "killed" Bill before. Then, Beatrix slays Elle effectively destroying her past. Finally, with her potential futures and her past gone, she exists fully in the moment and goes after Bill. History repeats; she catches his sword in her sheath and breaks his heart, again.
It’s always wild to me how she literally got to the biggest boss first
@@saikick.she got to her because she was the easiest to find
fun idea, but i think you did more work than tarantino did.
"Maybe it's a Texas thing." Ugh.. So cringe. But, not surprised.
A blackmamba actually killed Budd. Her right arm belonged to her Master, the arm she used to make Elle blind and the arm she used to actually Kill Bill with his (Master's) custom move.
I love the 1st movie for the action. I LOVE the second for its poetry. Remember when Pai Mei said her arm was HIS ARM now and he wanted his arm strong. She used HIS arm to pluck Elle’s last eye out 😂 so in a way Pai Mei got his revenge for her poisoning him
Love this!
She also used it to kill Bill.
Fun fact: The great Michael Parks and Gordon Liu both played two different roles in volumes 1&2. Michael Parks played Texas Ranger McGraw in #1 and Esteban in #2. Gordon Liu played Johnny Mo of the Crazy 88 in #1 and Pai Mei in #2.
Wow 😮 interesting
Yep
Wow, I assumed Esteban was played by some legendary Mexican actor that Tarantino had loved in crappy old western movies or something.
@@korganrocks3995 Yeah, I never thought to piece that together about Michael Parks.
Oh wow. I was today's years old when I realized who Esteban was. Wowowow
In the end, she wasn't crying out of regret, she was crying out of RELIEF... She even says "THANK YOU"
I love how Vol. 1 was done in a more Eastern, Chinese style film and Vol. 2 was done in an Old Western American style, showing Tarantino’s love of both genres. It’s also a testament to great writing and someone who understands that movies are meant to be entertainment and not 100% reality and not platforms for agendas.
Wow just realized the shot/angle of Uma at the end when she’s laying on the ground playing dead and her daughter comes to her, mirrors the shot at the beginning of her actually being shot and being pregnant, losing her baby. So good!
22:30 Glad to see this scene hasn’t lost it’s impact 😂💯👁🤏🏼
B.B. was already in the process of becoming an assassin. Bill was training her to see death from a cold-hearted perspective and get familiar with weapons which she seemed to respond very well. It’s interesting to see how things would turn out had Beatrix supported Bill’s idea. With parents like those two, B.B. would become one hell of an assassin.
She seems very well adjusted considering lol
I think the story of her stepping on her fish was meant to point out her natural affinity toward killing. 😬😅
Billaka Snake Charmer.. I guess his "gang" was formed like Esteban's prostitutes.
Also BB wanted to watch Shogun assassin lol
@@sirsancti5504 I think they might ALL have been orphans, reading between the lines.
I'm pretty sure Beatrix is just happy crying that it's over and she has her daughter back in the end, not really because she was grieving Bill.
Her cry is a mix of happiness, relief, grief, and many other mixed emotions. Let's not forget how much she's been through for the last 5 years, and who knows what happened in her life before that?
Probably both. Bill was not some 'dude' to her.
When Bill shoots her with the truth serum, he also says that one of the side effects is a wave of euphoria. "You feel it?" I think the implication in this final scene is that the complex emotions she's feeling are amplified and mixed with the delayed wave of euphoria that Bill says she'll feel. Which is brilliant.
She thought about Buck and what he did to her when she was in a coma
totally agree. i think its pure euphoria. she isnt the type will grieve people who wrong her.
They should do a third volume with Maya Hawke playing a grown-up version of BB. She could've just told her daughter that Bill had a heart attack.
She looks just like her mom so that would definitely work!
I assume she DID tell her that.
I highly doubt Uma Thurman would subject her daughter to a Tarantino movie set. Unfortunate because it's a fantastic idea.
@@Steelburgh She’s already been on a Tarantino set when she played ‘Flowerchild’ one of The Manson Family in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
I will never forget my friend and I sneaking in to see this movie in 8th grade lol. We had snuck in randomly to see the first one without having any idea what it was about…and our minds were blown.
So basically my friend and I went to the movies at least once a month sometimes it was every weekend. We went to theaters to see something and it was absolutely awful and we missed the first 20 minutes but Kill Bill was just about to start.
The elderly usher who was retired and worked at the theater as a hobby and for a little extra cash knew us really well and ended up seeing us in there clearly not being old enough but didn’t say anything. Thank god because that experience changed my entire life.
The Pai Mei sequence is probably my favorite part of any QT film, it’s insanely good
He's so deliciously over the top. Whenever I wear a tie I'll flick it the way he flicks his beard! 😄
Pai Mei teaches NO ONE that 5 point trick, but he taught it to Beatrix and she used it to kill bill. Hattori Hanzo swore an oath never to make another sword, but he broke it for Beatrix so she could kill Bill. Esteban Vihaio considered Bill a son, but he betrayed Bill's whereabouts to Beatrix, allowing her to locate and kill Bill. Bill's father figures don't seem to be very pleased with how Bill turned out! Or maybe he just tends to bring that out in people?
I believe they all had their reasons. Hatori Hanzo felt extreme guilt for teaching Bill and him becoming what he was that he felt obligated to make the sword to stop him. Pai Mei probably respected Beatrix because she was the best. And Esteban, he’s not the best person so betraying him wasn’t a big deal to him. Or another reason, he was telling the truth and Bill wanted to be located.
@@kazzlie4510 He did say he gave Bill's location because Bill would have wanted him to.
@@kazzlie4510Yes, but remember, when Bill saw Pai Mei to arrange her "apprenticeship", Pai Mei clearly worked Bill over, pretty thoroughly!
I think last guy was according to plan since Bill planned for Beatrix to get to him to use BB as leverage and to use the truth serum to find out why she left. Before he tries to kill her in sword battle. But he didn’t know she knew the exploding heart technique
I love the fact that Pai Mai grew & had such a soft spot/respect for Beatrix in the end, he taught her (and only her) his F-P-P-E-H-T.
With Elle betraying Pai Mai, Beatrix is the last true MASTER with ALL the secrets. Nobody can beat her. The entire two-part movie is a masterpiece.
I am a huge huge huge fan of kill bill and never thought that. Woww
Out of everyone, only Beatrix was the one to earn Pai Mei’s trust even though she’s the three things that Pai Mei hates, despises, and holds nothing but contempt for.
It could be assumed that *charm* was one of Beatrix’s natural abilities that made her a good assassin and what Bill knew would assure that Pai Mai would teach her the FPPEHT. Probably in hopes she’d teach it to him, but unfortunately, being a good liar, was also one of her natural abilities. Not telling him only proves she never truly trusted Bill… in the end, she was probably right not to.
While I'm sure Pai Mei grew fond of Beatrix, I actually think he broke his vow not to teach it to anyone the same way Hattori Hanzo broke his vow in order to make a new sword for Beatrix. He taught it to her in case she had to use it on Bill one day. It’s like both masters knew that they had created a monster in Bill that should be destroyed. These exchanges all seem to track with each other:
*Budd when he finds out Hanzo made Beatrix the sword:*
*Budd:* Didn't he swear a blood oath to never make another sword?
*Bill:* It would appear he has broken it.
*Budd:* -Them Japs sure know how to hold a grudge, don't they?- [laughs] _Or maybe … you just tend to bring that out in people._
*Bill and Beatrix about Hanzo:*
*Bill:* You know, I couldn't believe it. You got him to make you a sword.
*Beatrix:* It was easy. I just dropped your name, Bill.
*Bill:* [chuckles] That'd do it.
*Bill and Beatrix about Pai Mei:*
*Bill:* Pai Mei taught you the five point palm-exploding heart technique?
*Beatrix:* Of course he did.
The "Of course he did" seems less about Pai Mei trusting Beatrix and more about Pai Mei NOT trusting Bill, otherwise that line comes off uncharacteristically arrogant compared to how she treats him for the rest of the scene. It’s also a play on the trope in martial arts movies where the master never teaches the student all of their moves just in case they have to battle each other down the road, they’ll still have a trick up their sleeve. It’s just in this case he taught it to the good student to take out the bad.
Nah, Bill had a bastard somewhere that will want to fight Beatrix and the movie will be called Kill Kiddo
The massive combination of the first and second Kill Bill movies stands as a testament to both Tarantino's exceptional skill as a filmmaker and the possibilities of pop cinema.
YEAH THAT'S BULLSHIT. 😑😒
David Carradine’s monologue about superheroes alter egos and how they pertain to Beatrix is one of the best monologues in film history. Not only is he giving the best performance of his life but the writing and directing is flawless. And yes he could in fact play that awesome flute.
Also the 3 Inch Punch which Beatrix uses to escape the coffin is a real life martial arts technique. Unfortunately they proved on Mythbusters that the weight of the dirt would not only make it impossible but even if they did break through she would’ve been crushed by the weight of the dirt. Still an amazing scene though.
I dig how Bill isn't even trying too hard. He's drinking heavily in those last few scenes. And then Beatrix reacts almost instinctually with the 5-point technique, like, Bill wasn't wrong about her: she's a natural killer
Thank you! I have had conversations with people about how Bill was drinking heavily to dull his senses so she had a chance. He was trained by Pei Mei, Hanzo, and who knows who else. He wasn't going to go down easy at all. She is good, and definitely his top assassin, but I think he was either ready to go because he was getting older or that he did feel some sort of guilt, thus giving her a chance to get her revenge.
No. Hanzo trained Bill.
@@mikolokim8182 Maybe he's not bothering because he knows she's better than him. Tired of people suggesting he let her win. Please.
Tarantino is a master at crafting tension. Also, as much as I dislike Daryl Hannah's character, I see her as a tragic character. It is my belief that Bill recruited her, seduced her, and trained her in an effort to replace Beatrix. And, she knew she was always competing against or being compared to Beatrix, which is why she was so obsessed with her.
In my head canon, Daryl Hannah, though totally blind, is still a trained student of Pai Mei. Elle will find Vernita Green's daughter (whom Beatrix told to eventually come find her if she wanted revenge) and train her as the instrument of her revenge against Beatrix. Beatrix will naturally train her daughter Bebe as well, so there will be an inevitable confrontation between the young students and the mother-masters who raised and trained them.
Unless that snake finds her first... With most snakes I'd assume it'd just try to avoid her, but Black Mambas are one of the most agressive species of snake, and it was already pretty upset.
Oh my God! Your reactions are the BEST! I love you guys. Subscribed!!!
I recommend Django Unchained. It's another Quentin Tarantino movie.
Absolutely loved yalls reactions.
"The way it's placed, that hand doesn't look like it's her hand."
Daryl Hannah often wears a prosthetic finger on her left hand. She lost the tip of her index finger when she was 3, getting it caught on the pulley of a well.
Kill Bill is so much fun and rewatchable. I know both volumes are suppose to be one movie but I still view them as 2. Volume 2 the story is really good but volume 1 is so much fun for me. Love them both.
The connection between Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction: Beatrix is a role played by Mia Wallace. If you remember the conversation between her and Vinny in the celebrity diner. Instead of “Force Fox Five” they got the “deadly viper assassination squad”. In Tarantino films some movies are “real life” and others are movies within that world. Kill Bill is a movie in that world.
I read once that one part of another sequel was considered to have included a blind Elle, newly trained in how to fight blind, coming for revenge
6:21 You called it right. It's not stated anywhere in the movie, but considering how Budd is no longer an assassin and lets lowlife wretches treat him like shit makes it look like he's punishing himself for what they did to Beatrix. It's probably why he is mad at his Brother, probably because he didn't want to participate.
In Beatbox Freestyle, you'll see genius creativity. Up Down Step & Walk will reveal another talent from his bag.
Kill Bill Vol. 2 is one of my favorite movies deleted scenes + Live concert with Quentin Tarantino Unplugged Awesome video keep up the great work 👍
Pai Mei is played by Gordon Liu (my favorite martial art film actor!), the same actor who played Johnny Mo, the Crazy 88 leader from Kill Bill vol.1.
Elle vs bride is one of the best fights ever
The old Mexican guy who gives Bill's location is played by the same actor as the old cop who found that the bride was not dead. Also, Pai Mei is the same actor as the head of the Crazy 88s.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this but the razor she pulled out of her boot is a nod to when micheal madsons character did the same in Reservoir Dogs
This story was a masterpiece of storytelling. Uma Thurman deserved an Oscar, but she wasn't nominated. For me, the only Tarantino film that matches the intensity of this story was the first half of "From Dusk Til Dawn". He only directed the first half of the film as a crime story and also starred in it, the 2nd half was a horror story directed by Robert Rodriguez.
imagine a potential kill bill 3 is about B.B meeting Vernita’s daughter in pursuit of vengeance
No, no, no and no! Kill Bill ended on a masterstroke.
Uma thurman earns her badass status in this movie!!
Priceless REACTION.. 😅😅😅😅
I am SHOCKED you both thought the reason she was so emotional in the bathroom at the end was because of killing Bill. She was clearly crying tears of joy that her daughter was both alive, and (now) safe. Imagine going on that kind of revenge spree while under the assumption your baby was 4 years dead, and then finding her alive. That is why she was crying, not because she murdered a former associate (for the 5th time).
I'd say she was probably feeling a whole lotta emotions, since she just completed one hell of a journey, and not only killed the love of her life(not just a "former associate"), but also got hit by that bombshell of a twist in finding out her daughter was alive and well.
I wasn't shocked. I agree.
19:25 lights camera snakebite
Shogun assassin....... Mum showed me that movie when I was 10. Watch it. I especially love the baby carriage. The wheels were my favourite
34:40 those were more so tears of joy that she finally got her baby but I'm sure she wished she didn't have to kill Bill in the first place
The car Uma is driving is the same one brad Pitts character owns in Once upon a time in Hollywood
Bill got exactly five steps away.
Pai mei got his revenge on Elle by having Bea snatch out the other eye, remember he said “your arm belongs to me now, I want it strong” hence also why he probably did want to teach her the heart technique because her arm became his. “strong”
Oh, man, you guys had the best reactions when there was something brutal or gross lol
🤣
I want to thank Quentin Tarantino for teaching me what to do if I ever get buried alive in a wooden casket
😂😂😂 LOL
This. And if I’m ever in a face off with a one-eyed opponent.
the detail that always struck me as pretty wild was when bud kicks the hanzo away and idk if it was intentional or not but it sticks right into the metal barrel like butter. still wonder till this day if it was on purpose or not : )
31:59 despite everything, I still liked Bill... up until this one line: "Not your decision to make." Didn't really judge him TOO harshly BEFORE 'cause they were ALL assassins, including the Bride. All of 'em were already severely, morally deficient.
But for him to claim that it wasn't her decision whether or not the daughter was to be raised as an assassin is, to me, akin to saying women don't have autonomy over their own bodies... and no right to choose whether or not to have an abortion. The ONLY difference between The Bride's right to choose and the usual case of a woman having her "freedom of choice" is the Bride was choosing to remove her daughter from a dangerous future, while Bill would not have.
"This is for breaking my brother's heart"
I didn't see it until the credits to be like Samuel L Jackson where?! He was the piano player at the church.😂
They said Budd was Bill's brother like seven times in these movies, what you mean you didn't know lol
That kid was also from Spider-man 3 in 2005 and she was in Steve Jobs film.
Michael Madsen reminds me of the Sheriff from Holes in his mannerisms, especially when he was standing outside just smoking a cigarette.
U guys should really check out the double feature Grindhouse(Planet Terror/Death Proof) the way it was meant to be seen because of the bonus trailers like Machete. Which we loved so much, it got it's own Danny Trejo movie!🤩
SHE DID HER RIGHT!!!!!
Kill Bill is Cinema at its finest. Such a wonderful blend of of genres and music that just fit perfectly. Some cool trivia: Pai Mei's three-inch punch is a reference to Bruce Lee's three-inch knock-out punch.
*one-inch
One movie I think Quentin referenced about being buried alive is a Dutch movie I think called Spoorlos which got a terrible American remake called 'The Missing'
Really good example of American movie executives trying to make a happy ending from a film completely missing the point of why the original is so chilling.
Such a shame because Jeff Bridges gave a great performance playing a villain for a change with good support from Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock
There is a great deleted scene showing Bill in the day being a total samurai badass. I wish they could have left it in but it didnt fit anywhere. check it out!
Also...the little girl is the hippie who sells brad Pitt the acid dipped cigarette in Once Upon...
*Phone rings*
CaliMountainSnake: Bill?
Bud: Wrong brother.
CaliMountainSnake: Bud
**minutes later**
Bud: this is for breaking my brother’s heart
Reactor: Ohhhhhhhh! That’s Bill’s brother?!
**sigh** crazy how people watch movies but don’t watch the movie at the same time
You are right Andrew, that movie Buried was a tough film to watch. And you felt the panic the whole time
Phenomenal show as always. The whole premise of this was based on Bruce lee. How she got out of the grave was based on Bruce's one inch punch. Out of this movie that was legit respect to one best martial artist of all time. Hence the black and gold outfit she always wears. Your show is phenomenal.Thank you for this amazing video. 🙂🥋
I met the set director once. That was Cocoa Puffs that Uma crawled through to get out of the grave.
Bill + Beatrix = BB
This is my favorite movie, and i see it as 1 movie. The emotions wrapped around intense action. You get these were her friends. I think what isn't said is Darryl Hannah's character was replacing Beatrix during the coma and they had similar niches. They were really the only ones with deep rivalry. Im kind of glad that Beatrix didn't get Bud because he was family - even just technically. And the Superman discussion was writer's GOLD.
You need Death Proof next!! It's the Ahsoka and Hera prequel you didn't know you needed!!
The amusing thing to me in this movie is that the only person Beatrix kills is Bill. Budd was killed by Elle using the Black Mamba as a weapon, Elle may or may not be dead but she's certainly alive when Beatric leaves...
Kill Bill 2 is my favorite of the two, but it wouldn't be as good without Kill Bill 1 to set it up, it really is one long movie in two parts.
Some days I like Kill Bill (the whole thing) better, other days I like Pulp Fiction better. Those are my top Tarentino picks.
Agor: It's a Texas thing?
Kristen *looks over*
🤣
In your Tarantino journey, don't miss True Romance.
22:31
Best part of the whole reaction.
For me, it works as _Vol 1_ and _Vol 2,_ and it works as _The Whole Bloody Affair._ All in all, it just really works, as do these reactions.
Kiddo avenged her Master by finishing the job he started.
I loved Bill playing the flute outside the wedding as a throwback/homage to David Carradine’s Kane character from the 1970s series Kung Fu
Leaving her to die in that trailer, opens a part three
It was, indeed, recorded (both volumes) as one movie, but it was too big to theaters do it.. So the advertised as "one film in two volumes".
LOL Kristen!!!
Fun fact... The girl who plays B.B. is the one who sells the "ACID" cigarette to Brad Pitt in Once upon a time in Hollywood 👀...
You guys should watch Buried, it's criminally underrated.
The thing about these reaction videos is that they always seem to know what's going to happen next. Sheesh, just watch and be surprised. Stop talking. That said, this is one of the better reaction videos.
Probably the 100th person to say this but Kristen looks so much like Annie Murphy!
4:18
The first kiss was pleading for his civility, the second kiss was pleading for his mercy.
The mother told the daughter that daddy went to sleep. Until she will open up to handle it.
I guess you guys missed it when Bud called Elle 8:57 and she answered Bill. Then Bud said wrong brother hence the relationship.....lol. Also, you two screaming in unison was hilarious.....lol. But I did the same my first viewing.
FYI... Buried is a great movie. There's another one I've tried to find but don't know the name of, it's a foreign film with kind of the same premise but I think he was in a cell. 🤷🏾♀️
My favourite scene is that grave scene.
Same 😊
I highly, HIGHLY suggest that you guys do Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. However, I equally suggest you do some research about Charles Manson, Spahn Ranch, and the Tate/Labianca murders to REALLY understand and appreciate the gravity of that movie. No amount of research into those events and their impact on the American psyche will spoil the movie, it will only enhance it. For me, it’s Tarantino’s most emotional film, but you really have to know some history to tap into the payoff.
I always loved the fact that bill literally died of a broken heart
"Would've been an excellent Mother" Meaning from the time of Lisa Wong right up to now. Basically the time Bill had her more precisely.
Fun fact...Pei Mei's 5 point technic is in the new Mortal Kombat game. 😁
One of the best sequels ever
You guys will really enjoy DEATH PROOF another one of Quentin Tarantino‘s films, fast cars, really dangerous stunts, and oh yeah and beautiful women!!!
Uma Thurman’s stunt double in kill bill is one of the main characters in the film!
The movie with ryan Reynolds is awsome !
Fun fact. Esteban and the red neck sheriff from volume 1 are the same actor.
If you have seen "Blade Runner," you might notice a reference with Daryl Hannah's character.
Did you notice the person who killed Oren's father was "BILL".?
The fight with Oren-Ishii and the fight with Elle was purposefully made to be contrasting. Beatrix vs Oren was elegant and honorable. With Elle it was dirty (physically and figuratively) and raw.
Just in case you missed it, a lot of reactors do, he shot her with rock salt not regular shotgun shells. hurts a lot but its much less lethal
Check out "Sin City" 💡👍
BB play in the start of Bicentennial man? and on the on DvDs there bonus info on some acters play more than two rolls.
"He hates Caucasians, despises Americans and has nothing but contempt for women. So in your case... it might take a while."
