  • It's that time of year again. Time to bring home the bacon. We finished harvesting all our side oats grama while we continue to harvest milkweed. You won't want to miss it.
When harvesting prairie grass, we use a gleaner L3. They were once manufactured by Allis-Chalmers. We use them because they are highly customizable.
We do not use them when harvesting wild flowers though. We harvest those with our hands, called 'hand-harvesting' or via a pull type Allis-Chalmers combine. Other prairie grasses, such as Big Bluestem, Little Bluestem, and Indiangrass also get harvested with a stripper head. If you are looking for pollinator, feel free to check out our mixes at hokseynativeseeds.com

If I may, what settings do you use for the combine? Cylinder speed, air, concaves etc. Thank you! Appreciate the diversification of your farm beyond commodity grains.
