- In this video I install the UroTuning shifter cable end bushing upgrade in my MK4 Golf. It proved to be the final piece to make my shifter feel perfect. I should have started with the cable ends.

By far, the best videos I've seen troubleshooting and working on the shifter for VWs
Just started the journey with some new cable ends on a MK3 Leon, nice to see others enjoying the experience, class video!
Yet another great video. The way you show things is so natural and real, just leaving in dropping the clip was brilliant.
Thanks for being the only one to welcome me to the golf community over a year ago I have been upgrading the junk out of everything in this car to make it handle better. Thank you for the vids
Aw Man!!! You are welcome. But, thank you for reaching out to me and commenting. It always means a lot and it motivates me to keep making videos.
Hey man, great video! I really like your voice. You do a damn good job of showing what to do. You should have more subscribers !
Thank you so much! Your comment means the world to me. I really appreciate it. If you have a Golf too, good luck with it.
I'm saving this video. Been searching for such cable adjustments "how-to"s to do on my Fabia for ages
watched all 3 videos entirely, happy to see you solved/improved the situation :) good job. I might be trying this as well.
Thanks! It has not grinded since the last video. And if you are going to do it too, good luck! it makes a world of difference.
@@MaqsVids happy to hear that! I'll investigate the current situation of the bushings soon.
This is probably one of the most recent golf videos I've seen in a while. I'm glad they're still popping up. Great camera snd audio quality too. Keep it up bro. I got a 93 golf 2 0 and I love it but she's a real pain to work on
Thanks for the vids. Going to replace all my bushings soon. Something I should've done when I purchased the Mk4 Jetta. Bushings pieces everywhere😅. Now I feel confident now knowing to drill a hole for easy access. Plus how to adjust the linkage with confidence. I have done a lot of work on other parts of the car. After this, everything else has been replaced lol. Love the car just old and she needs lots of upgrades.
Congratulations on finding the Problem
Greetings from Germany
hey man you really out here holding it down for us!
Thanks man!! I'm having a blast. I wish I had time to do more.
Another great video! Your attention to detail is much appreciated.
Nice to hear that it working great now! 👍 I’ve been struggling also with my mk4 shifter and i have to also replace those cable end bushings. Problem is that in here europe there isnt so much aftermarket bushing options available.
Order from an American site, they’ll be able to get it to you im sure. I’ve ordered things from all over the internet. Dieselgeeks has an awesome short shift and bushing kit you could get
Watching this makes me miss my 06 Mazda 3 with the 5 speed. Manuals are fun
Yes they are. I miss our Mazda3 too. I couldn't figure out how to tag you in a CZcams post. So I posted pictures of our old 3 on Instagram.

@@MaqsVids I like the red paint! I personally like the look of that first generation of Mazda3 more than the second. Those wheels on your's looked good too. I just had some steelies on mine.
02A, 02J and 02T boxes have shit 1st gear shyncronization, the best way to use them if u have a bad one is to firstly put it into 3rd and then 1st
Thanks! I'm gonna try that. It has been...."fun".... sorting this one out.
@@MaqsVids I had the older style gear selector mechanism on my octavia (02A), it was a complete garbage, grinding first and heavy fifth, i changed to your stile one, whit new cables and shifter box, it has been a completely new car to drive, but the alignment procedure is not always good for me... I do the alignment without the pins, just in gear and i adjust the cables as it goes in (cant explain accurately) much more precise than the adjustment points to use
Nothing like a little stick, miss mine
I ordered the mk3 shifter repair kit with all the bushings and stuff from urotuning a year ago . But now I’m thinking of swapping to 02J . Can I still use that kit for everything in the gear box
I'm not sure. Which kit did you order? If I were you, I would compare the parts in the MK3 kit with the parts in the MK4 kit (If you haven't already). Good luck!
@@MaqsVids I got the mk3 complete shifter repair kit
Hi Maq, Could you post the links to the parts you used for the shifter upgrade?
Hi,
I put links to all the bushings in the description. For the upgrade, I got the 02J from a newer MK4 in the junkyard. czcams.com/video/clxKjOdsy_E/video.html
Is that what you were asking about?
@@MaqsVids yes, thanks Maq!
Great one bro! Please i am having similar issue with my MK4 TDI (Auto). Shifting back to drive comes with a heavy jack sound from the gear box. I replaced the gear box entirely and its still the same issue. Additionally, the gear position indicator on the instrument cluster goes blank after some few minutes of drive. It only comes back after restarting the engine and only for the same blank issue to occur again. Please kindly help me out. Thanks in advance bro. (I will appreciate it, if i can relate with you on WhatsApp bro)
Hey! Yours sounds like a motor/transmission mount. It's a common failure on these cars at this point. I'm not sure about the indicator though. It may be a switch or a circuit.
