Hey Mordian, that's my empire captain at 14:05! I'm super happy you found him and featured him! I'm glad I'm finally painting at a level to be in a video

Looking forward to the review of the Warrior Priests. Having thought long and hard it looks like the Priest of Sigmar is better value with either a 5+ward save or reroll hit and wound rolls of 1 in combat are more general purpose that the Ulrican prayers. Shame, with the Priest of Ulric prayers gave acces to Warband and Furious Charge and or Frenzy

ah the captain and general. Aka a bretonian seargent and an upcosted bretonian paladin.

My build for a general is putting him on a Pegasus with Full Plate, shield, and Lance, then giving him both the ruby ring and dragon bow, turning him into a super mobile gun platform. The Lance gives him okay damage on the charge, and if you’re worried about being charged you can also give him a brace of pistols. This guy can tear up flanks and dance around some big targets and generate good value throughout the game.

Also if you want Pegasus knights in your empire list, simply take three captains on Pegasuses.

The battle General is not to be underestimated. I had a game where he killed around 500 points worth of models, his leadership allowed me to keep all my units in the fight, and because he was a behemoth, his leadership range is 16 inches. Very good unit.

Good shout about the griffon captains. I also think how cheaply you can obtain flying level 4 wizards and as many as you like is great.

Imho, commanders of the empire being more force multipliers and unit buffers, y'know serving the role of actual officers, is rather in line with how the empire works. They aren't Brets, Orcs or Chaos Warriors where martial merit determines standing! Also chapter masters exist.

Remember, strictly speaking, nothing stops a Demigryph Captain (say, the BSB) from joining into your unit of State Troops, letting you both act as a babysitter and a fighty monster at the same time.
153pts gets you a Demigryph captain BSB with a War Banner, Full Plate, and a Shield. Biting Blade is a nice 15pt upgrade if you want him to be a little spicy, but with only 2A I wouldn't bother

@@janehrahan5116 That's the point General are not killy in comparison to other faction. But even with full equipment he'll be as expensive as your duke (or chaos lord) on foot XD
Empire is not about pure damage and honour (keep that for Bretonnia XD) it's only about ressources managment, cost effectiveness & outnumbere your enemy.
I play chaos since V6 and i don't think i lost to empire thanks to brute force more than twice

So can you take a brace of pistols and a sword for melee? Sorry I’m new and I’m building up an averland army

3 attacks for a general is a bit low. I feel like giving the general or captain a 50+ pts magic weapon would be kind of a waste. For the same points you can just get another captain. It's good that the empire does have some cheap BSB though. And II do love the brace of pistols option.

Equiped with a Battle sword & Talisman of protection. You give him a two headed griffon and you have quite the character for only 360pts. You have a Chaos lord without mount for this cost. When you only have 1000pts of characters it can make a big difference
