Youre right. Like gold! So precious. But you know what? Despite the simplicity of practice of meditation; some people have misunderstanding of it. My eldest son 35 years old wants to meditate, because he thinks that it will make him more self determined and able to achieve greater success. Once someone gets a fallacious idea, its very hard to to advice him that meditation doesnt bend to accommodate pre requested ideas. It frees us from the objects of mind and the material world. So to speak. Anyway friend have a great day🏅🎖😊💜💖
@@winstonmiller9649 Yes it will surely make him self-determined...but that would be a very small benefit of this great technique...kind of byproduct i would say.Texhnique is much more precious.
Everyone should try one serious attempt of vipassana course--i did it recently at igatpuri, nashik,Maharashtra -- it was my best experience of lifetime. Working on self gives you immense happiness 😊
Hi fried. You are right. The best experience!! Its funny, my first experience of vipassana was in an article of a Sunday newspaper. The Journalist had a bad experience, because basically he/she found it hard to follow the simple instruction of Goenka, to watch the breath, and watch the bodily reaction, but not get carried away with it. I thought" how hard can that be to follow simple instruction?" But i learned how much I had to work to follow Goenka's instruction on my first vipassana. For the first 3 days all i could do was change position when i felt discomfort. No wonder the journalist had a hard time. And i really learned how hard it was to work on one's self. In the end i went on two more retreats. Took a friend once. She said i shouldn't ever take her again, but few weeks later she was clamouring to go again as she continued to practice and the benefits showed itself im her life. 😌🤲🙏💖💜🤝
"Buddha taught us to observe suffering and the arising of suffering. Without observing these two we can never know the cessation of misery. Suffering arises with the sensations. If we react to sensations, then suffering arises. If we do not react we do not suffer from them. However unpleasant a sensation may be, if you don't react with aversion, you can smile with equanimity. You understand that this is all anicca, impermanence. The whole habit pattern of the mind changes at the deepest level. Through the practice of Vipassana, people start to come out of all kinds of impurities of the mind-anger, passion, fear, ego, and so on. Within a few months or a few years the change in people becomes very evident. This is the benefit of Vipassana, here and now. In this very life you will get the benefit." - S.N. Goenka in Bangkok, Thailand in September, 1989. -
@Dan i for me, the third retreat was not much easier than the second, but some hitherto unexperienced parts of the doctrine (which I'd been reading from books) made more sense. For instance, the concept of Sati (as opposed to bare attention or mindfulness) became more readily apparent. Also, helpful tip: you can lie down in the pagoda to rest and meditate while lying down, for a while. And then do an hour long adhitthana inside the pagoda itself, with your back resting against the wall. Makes the whole retreat a whole lot more rewarding, in various senses of the term.
Guruji we as Nation Proud of you. You did Nobel work by bringing Vippashana back to India & spread out world wide through Pagodas & people transformation from Extravert to Introvert. Rajesha Shakyamuni no side effects. Ofcourse it is difficult to put into daily practice. One has to control his/her mind from wandering. I found it difficult to sit for hours for meditation because I have curious mind. I was reluctant for first 4 days then I tried to settle in with others. That is really brilliant friend!! Before my first Vipassana retreat I had terrible relationship problems; constant arguments, anger, resentment, bitterness. hatred.Vipassana helped me to get out of that distructive relationship. Then through the patience and equanimity that vipassana awakened me, I formed a lovely relationship, and married the really perfect woman. Because i had become more liberated, from the thrall of emotions, anger, and insecurity etc. "May all creatures find peace, may all creatures find love, may all creatures find liberation" Its badly quoted from Goenka, but you get the idea, I'm sure😊🤝💖🤲😊
