FILM DESCRIPTION:
The second and third novels in author Anne Rice's popular book series The Vampire Chronicles provide the inspiration for this horror sequel starring ill-fated actress and recording artist Aaliyah, who was killed in an airplane crash before the film's release. Stuart Townsend is the vampire Lestat, who has awakened from a century-long slumber and turned his considerable energy to rock music. His vampirism identity mistaken for a gothic hard rock publicity stunt along the lines of Kiss or Marilyn Manson, he quickly becomes a pop music sensation. Lestat's powerful music reaches the ear of the slumbering Akasha (Aaliyah), the millennia-old "queen of the vampires" who was the first immortal bloodsucker. Akasha is soon free and embarking on a quest to seize control of the world with Lestat at her side. In the meantime, Lestat becomes an object of fascination for Jesse Reeves (Marguerite Moreau), member of a secret order studying the supernatural called the Talamasca, and a band of ancient vampires come together in an effort to stop Akasha, even though her destruction could potentially cause their own deaths. Aaliyah worked extremely hard for this role .she had to be wired which was sore because u have to hold ur body ,having a dilect coach wearing the beautiful costume which was heavy and cold and wearing contact lenses

This movie should have been amazing but they cut out everything interesting about the story. The vampires are hilarious as they slowly zip line across the room. A pity because Aaliyah was perfect as Akasha and she was one of its redeeming features. At least it has an awesome soundtrack.
Aaliyah as Akasha was and still is my favorite representation of a vampire 💕 she was truly GORGEOUS and so were her costumes. RIP queen Aaliyah 💕😣 this is still one of my all time favorite vampire movies.

They made her look so weak.....Like she took on a bar of vampires and lost to these ones ? Lmao
In the books it's explained a lot better. The older (or more potent the blood of their sire/dame) a vampire is the stronger they are. The ones in the bar were very young by vampire standards and their blood was highly diluted thus very weak. These range from couple centuries to couple thousands of years old. One is at least as old as Akasha herself as he was one of her underlings in ancient egypt.

It's really hard for the viewer to really connect EMOTIONALLY to any character without more of a BACKSTORY to their existence
Oh! Believe me there was A LOT of backstory in both books, and most of the vampires that were killed HAVE THEIR OWN BACKSTORIES AND BOOKS

Queen of the Damned should be remade. It's such a good book, and they literally could've so much more. They never should've put The Vampire Lastat and Queen of the Damned together.
Focus on the Queen of the Damned story. They never even touched the story with the twins or the ancients. I don't get why they had to kill off Pandora and Mael when they could never be killed by her.
I would've loved if they just followed the book more. I know the book has a lot of storylines but they could've sectioned it off into Jesse, Lestat and Akasha (especially her origin!!!), and the ancients. It would've flowed so much better. Unfortunately, Aaliyah was perfect for this role. Rest her soul.

This scene made her seem weaker than the book portrayed. No one in the book dared to attack her in such a fashion except her past enemies who were statues like her. It would be so much cooler to see the twin sister come back and tears her to shreds out of pure rage but they didn’t build that plot in the movie. I love the movie for Aaliyah but I hate the plot and this ending.
It was unfortunately because she passed away before they could finish the filming. They didn't have anyone who could visually replace her at the time. They considered a few actors but ultimately felt that it would be best and respectful to just end it in the way they did 💕

This scene really pissed me off as a kid 😡💯! I hated that they jumped her! And I always thought that if she wore her black/silver outfit that she wore in the club scene earlier in the movie... then there probably would’ve been a different outcome 😂🤷🏽♂️. Lol I just figured if she burnt everyone into a crisp when she wore THAT, then maybe she could’ve done it in this scene too! I was a kid though. I don’t know why I thought the white outfit made her weak 😂. But anyway, now I understand why the other vampires did what they did. Akasha was just TOO evil unfortunately 😩

That's cuz Hollywood is run by techno punk vampires. Anne Rice, mmm... Tells the ancient story of the Twins. Akashas sister, an organic Being, rises from the Earth to confront Her betrayer. That's how the book ends. In a confrontation between organic life force vs. the lazy parasitic beings that want to eat everything.

I enjoyed seeing the year2002 movie of (QUEEN OF THE DAMNED) & I thought it was really good.
Now I strongly feel that the movie of (QUEEN OF THE DAMNED) should deserve the right to get rebooted, and this way a new generation of potential fans would be able to see it.
I enjoyed the movie until I read the book series. The movie is crap can't even watch it anymore. They are doing a TV series of The Vampire Chronicles actually written by Anne Rice and her son Christopher so hopefully it'll be way better.
In the scene, many were not aware that this was not of Allayh, it was her brother dressed as the vampire queen... Aailiyah died before the final scenes of the movie were completed... She and her brother look like twins, though they were not.

hahahahaha well this movie is not that bad but sadly this movie was more like an experimental type of a vampire movie including violence and adding the sensual or sexy part to vampires so somehow I think that's why this movie is not like a classic vampire movie since anyone who sees this type of vampires makes connection to the "Twilight Saga" which I think is a horrible mistake because those movie were real crap compared to this one but probably this movie was the key to develop the creation of sexy but dumb vampires. I still like and respect this movie although I think it looks more like a tv movie :P :)

One of my favorite movies, Aaliyah definitely played her part.
I hate how this deviates from the book. In the novel mekare kills akasha due to an ancient curse where she vowes to do so. Mekare awakes at the bottom of the ocean and rises to kill the power mad akasha. It's worth noting none of the vampires could bare to kill her for she was their queen, a goddess whom they loved. Especially missing is the scene once mekare beheads akasha her sister maharet declares, behold the queen of the damned. This film could've been epic!!! Hopefully someone will give the source material the film or tv series it deserves! Although aaliyah plays akasha to a t I must admit.

In the novel she is killed by her sister who simply tears her head off. That's after a whole novel of her being indestructible. Because the author couldn't come up with a good ending.
