Um you know what the whole thing is about huh????
From a TT into an Up...I would cry as well.
I went to the local computer repair shop and asked can you recommend a good Hard Drive? They said yes; London to Brighton in a Fiat Punto.
I always say “if you’re gonna import something, go big, go clean or go home.”
@Samuel Richards I was in his position when I first got into cars as an early teenager. It’s hard to even get insured on a Polo nowadays let alone an import and the import he wants.

Man I love this podcast, I’ve been having a rough time lately with my grandma being diagnosed with cancer and all, and this podcast has helped me laugh and have a good time a bit when things are really and truly at an all time low. Thank you so much Alex, Ethan, Jack and my personal favourite Gareth (I love BMWs and 29k is the right price 😁) for carrying me through these difficult experiences.
Keep on being the great, comedic bunch you are! Cheers guys!!! 🍻
My grandmother stopped driving 2 years ago because she felt she wasn’t safe on the roads anymore, really big decision but her driving isn’t nearly as bad as some of the other elderly drivers I see on the roads
Unfortunately, not everyone has the same care and level of responsibility as your grandmother.
Many elderly drivers are too thick to see they're a danger to themselves and others until they have an incident or near incident and realise then.
@@MrManBuzz Most create situations in which danger is bound to occur. Like driving at 30mph in a national
@@S.ASmith That too. I'm a courier so I'm driving on the road all day. I've lost count of elderly people who clearly should not be driving anymore crawling along at 40-50KPH on a road with a 100kph speed limit. And then then you overtake them they usually look at you with a "how dare you" as if you're the one being dangerous or driving poorly.
@@MrManBuzz I'm in the same line of work, and i think im with you when I say "I've seen it all".
Seen an elderly couple front end a HGV to point HGV had engine block on the road. State of elderly couple is likely, 6ft under now

that's what I thought
I personally think elderly people should be re tested. Eye sight and reaction times get alot worse with age
@Matt Allcock no there isn't a test. They just need to reapply.
@Do One I'm not here to start anything more just want to clarify what you mean? As the rotary views are not much more than what they are now. Granted the podcasts don't get mega views as let's be honest most people see 1hr long vids and they don't bother to click it. But the lads haven't really done much different to what they usually do and the micra vid was more just a vid they probably made to fill a gap as covid is restricting what they can do at the moment
@Matt Allcock they don't have a restest at 70.
Could not agree more with you Adam! 🤝
Impossible for teenage/younger drivers to have many years experience....the road-death statistics show that the majority of road-deaths are caused by inexperienced drivers within the first 2 years on the road!
My dad has just had to have the "no more driving" conversation with his oldest brother.
It's not fun. Even when you know that it is the only safe way forward, taking a very large part of a person's independence.
Look forward to your podcasts every week. Pissed myself with Ethan reading out 'my wife'. Keep up the great work 'chaps'...lol...
Re Lawrence’s question: if you feel too awkward about discussing driving with an elderly relative or are unsure if now is the time for them to hang up the keys then you could suggest that they attend a driving assessment. I work as a driving advisor for a ‘Driving Mobility’ centre. Driving Mobility is a charitable organisation backed by the Department for Transport which accredits over 20 centres across the UK. The assessment is a little bit like a driving test (but not as regimental/formal) with safety being the main focus, at the end of the assessment a recommendation will be made. Assessments are undertaken by a Driving Instructor and an Occupational Therapist who will write a report with their recommendations and further advice - this can include being told to stop driving with immediate effect if a dangerous standard of driving is observed. Families often find this the easier option as the assessors deliver the bad news based on evidence from the drive.
The issue with this though is that it's like passing a driving test. You drive to your best, once it's finished, you relax and drive to your normal standard and concentration levels. My Dad went through this. Passed his driving assessment and then a few months later got into an incident to which the police advised him to give up his license and that was enough in the end to convince him.
For anyone interested in ethans failed mot, here are the reasons for failure not including advisories
Rear registration plate inscription illegible (0.1 (b))Nearside windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively (3.4 (b) (ii))Offside rear brake pipe excessively corroded (1.1.11 (c))Parking brake efficiency below requirements (1.4.2 (a) (i))
Every email Ethan has to read out must include at least one “my wife” in it from now onwards.

42:20 When I checked, I was getting quoted 5k for that Yaris. I'm glad I went with an early 2000s volvo instead. 0-60 sub 9secs and it costs about the same to insure as a skoda fabia.

My grandad is a good driver and has no plans of giving up his license as he just bought a Toyota gt86 and has had many spots bikes and really enjoys the gt86
With privacy glass, I literally wouldn't be able to see at night without the reversing camera. During daylight I use the mirrors (and blind spots) and mainly ignore the reversing camera.
Lovin’ the show..... we need more content of Ethans project car in our lives soon please!
Yes! Another CT podcast! This week I have got exams at school and this is what I watch when I am not studieng!
Studying* oh dear...
My Fiance's gran was driving herself down to Devon from North Hertfordshire and back until she was about 82! But she knew the bumps and near misses were increasing to the point she didn't feel safe driving herself, we inherited her car which was a 2006 Skoka Fabia estate (one old lady owner) and we now use it to drive her around whenever she needs it.
Come out right on time. 02:30 for my shift!

@Do One they have got nearly half a million views in both their last two videos
I see Gareth is back. Still hasn’t sold his BMW I bet!
The thing with "not being taught to use motorways" gets me, we're taught to use a dual carriageway and there are no driving differences (other than turning right on a dual) between them and the speed is the same (theoretically).
Yeah pretty much, just more lanes. Had no issue myself with either.
1:05.27 you can pin point the exact moment Alex realises Ethan has another "myyyy wiiiife" moment coming up 😂
Definitely get a Peugeot 206 if you are a student, I am 19 and I pay about £800 for insurance (group 13). Really easy for me to fix when it breaks, things that I have had to replace twice are the drop links because my city's roads are full of potholes but they are super cheap. Tax is a quite high on the 206 sport though, think its £165 which just is not what I expected when I bought it but honestly the best car ever I absolutely love mine!
If you can get one cheap enough a Ford Fiesta and a diesel one is pretty good on insurance and tax too. Harder to snag such a bargain mind you.
you guys make me happy 👊
Window tint is a necessity where I live in the USA. It gets HOT AF in the summer and window tint is a life saver, especially if you have a black interior.
Few minutes in Alex talks about his reckless driving,
44:00 minutes in Alex says hello to the police and we’ve done nothing wrong lol
Jack and Ethan are the funniest.
I get Alex with reversing cars. They just don't use their mirrors. My co-worker nearly reversed on to me while helping another co-worker unload something for her car. The same one also nearly reversed into another car and ended up blocking most of the street. I take a lot of precaution while reversing and it's not that hard with three mirrors and two eyes. I guess some people just can't be bothered.
Brilliant bois
Agree with the recommendation for the Yaris. They've got a great digital dash and it's next to impossible to get less than 40mpg doing literally anything
Been waiting for this for an hour, been putting off sleep just for this!!! 😂😂😂
Yeeeessssss Yaris! Was my first car for 5 years. Worst thing that ever happened was that the rear silencer fell off. Loved the sound for a week and bolted on a replacement for £80. Faultless reliable economic car that's brilliant for first time drivers. Upgraded to a MK2.5 MX5 last year and never looked back......much.
28:00 with regards to the Ship of Theseus paradox...
I've often wondered how many Modifications you make to a car that the DVLA/Insurance company just gives up and brands it a kit car?! There must be a point where it is nolonger the car it was and is now a new beast!!
There's a points system IIRC.
This means that your car in stock form has a particular amount points (can't remember the exact figure)
If you perform a major modification (I'm talking about engine swaps, gearbox swaps, suspension mods, reshelling, etc...) will reduce this number of points. The number of points varies depending on the modification. It's worth noting that if you perform another major modification, the points will be reduced again
If the number of points gets low enough, the DVLA will decide that your car is now a kit car
That's my understanding of the basics of it anyway
Thanks for the podcast im 9 I listen to it alot
I swear alex singing the unpopular opinion song, get's better every week!
If you guys can arange the cops comming onboard, I woud love to see you guys arrange a timed lap on a circuit to see if you can drive faster than a trained police officer
Chasing a car is a lot easier than running majority of the time, so I don't think it would really show much
@@Interknetz I agree with you on that, but that would not be what I would like to seen proven. I would like to see the difference a police trained driver would make compared to a bunch of CZcamsrs when it comes to car control, if there's any difference.
Top Job Chaps 🤘
Mopeds have their uses especially if you happen to be working on the breaks constantly 😉 and happen to need to remove the pads and keep them indoors got my first moped back after it got nicked didn't make it far the 2nd time
early, love your podcasts :)
On the Ship of Theseus thing; I think if you replace a part like some wheels then the new wheels become as much a part of the original car as the original wheels were. So long as you don't replace everything at once then I say it's the same car even if after it all everything is different.
Great stuff. 👌 😂
I admit, there's times I could be mistaken for a middle/fast lane hogger.
I know where the road splits, I know what lane I need to be in, and I know that it gets chaotic from people leaving it too late to get in the right lane, so I think ahead and get into the necessary lane about a mile back. There's multiple times when idiots have gone to undertake me, managed to pull alongside, and then had to brake and fall in behind me.
And as for the paradox what about an early land rover they don't have shell's and its fairly common to swap the chassis out
This is the reason I don't sleep through my mondays!
Jack, where did you get that Singer t-shirt from?
Very obvious answer for the window tints: If you live in a rough area and drive a fancy vehicle, more often than not depending on your circumstances, you would not want to be able to allow the public to see inside for various personal reasons.
Would love to see Edwin on as a guest in a future podcast. Always enjoyed the quick clips on social media from him and the rest of the team ✌🏻
Hey guys love the podcast, keep up the great work!
Is it weird that i have a bad gut feeling towards my car if I'm riding shotgun whilst my car is being driven by someone... It's like i have been betrayed by my car somehow, but it all works out after i get back in it and take it for a joy ride (sometimes get the bad gut feeling starting up the car and the first few Kms i drive it)
I think you guys should keep doing podcast in this room, maybe I like wood panelling too much - it looks cool!

I did mega lol at the price thought of the R34 GTR, my immediate thoughts were 100k, mega money now!
Great T-Shirt Alex
having worked in China I can confirm that the driving style leaves a lot to be desired. Not sure if it was due to the customer I was working for at the time but traffic meant nothing to any of the drivers, quite a few evenings I thought o we must be going a different route today back to the hotel when there was a que in the turning lane then the driver would just cut in at the front of the que. Nearly every day we saw a crash on the way to the factory and a personal highlight was being driven through the centre of a local market. The most commonly used phrase was "who's bravest goes first" and "the problem comes when both people are brave"
Anyone knows where I can get one of those outline technical drawings like there have in the background?
I think they said in the first podcast at this venue, it was one of their sponsors, but I can't remember.
ALEX from hence forth shall be Known as "CHAPPIE". Gareth this is upto u to keep going.
Undertaking - If you do not change lane to undertake (i.e stay in the slow lane and pass the car in the middle lane) you have not committed any offence , but if you move lane to undertake you are at risk of committing a offence as you had the option to move to the outside lane to overtake. Moving from the inside lane to the middle lane and then to the outside lane to overtake a car in the middle lane is classed as a higher risk than staying in the lane you in (inside lane)
I would probably feel the same about my car being messed with / stolen as taking it to the dealership for service 😄
Nice one chaps !
can I find the involuntary decat story anywhere?
0:01 GARETH!!!!! SHOES!!!

Can't believe Jack didn't have a joke. It finishes the podcast off nicely come on Jack!
Perfectly legal to undertake slower moving traffic in an outside lane, especially on a 2 lane road
aye garrey boi's back!!
On number plates, love a sticker one on a classic race car, the black and silver number plate era
Sam needs to look into getting a Toyota bB. Mechanical parts are the same as a yaris so easy to get hold of, and easy to work on. There's a great community in the UK that can help with any questions
Passing someone on the inside isn’t an illegal move. Overtaking is a manoeuvre, as is undertaking. If you pass someone on the inside then pulling into the middle lane that’s bad. Maintaining the speed limit, in any lane is fine.
44:00 how about Suzuki Ignis Sport?
20:00 the last time I was a passenger in my Grandads (god rest his sole) car he went the wrong way around a roundabout. Needless to say I was never his passenger again. The one and only time he was my passenger I was in a hire car and got pulled for speeding. He was never my passenger again
I love the fact that making Ethan say the statement my wife like Borat has become a tradition.
So a mid-life crisis is just when you can finally afford to buy the car you wanted when you were 16.. it all makes sense now
No, that's just the "dream come thru".
The _crisis_ part, is when you can afford it, but don't want it anymore. So you have to come up with something else, and you don't know what.. so you get whatever is there, loud, bright and flashy, and it still feels like "a busyness marriage".
So glad Gareth is back.
as someone who is driving a sportscar on the motorway daily... the lorry lane (sidelane) is dangerous because the lane is completely ran down, and the grooves on the road can take over my steering and throw the back of the car all around... so even when i just stick to 70 with cruise control, i usually stick to the middle/inside lane... but of course if i see anyone coming like a madman behind me, i will take my leave to the side lane without a question...
What tools and bits are essential to working on ur own car
Are you allowed to have small plates (bike like) on the front of you car?
Yes, the A-Team is back! Good to see Gareth! Have a good week ahead everyone. 🙂🤘

its funny how you mentioned My name and Hays in the same video, I actually do support for Hays recruitment
Please do a show structured like old top gear
Having past my test last year I had many lessons on the motorway and complex duel carriageways, before I took my first solo drive in my own car (long drive to Oxford and back) I had already had the time on the motorways with my insructor. You are now aloud to be taken out onto motorways.
Passed* but cool
@@tomfield8766 Doh'!
@Ross Bourne There's still plenty of new drivers that do the same unfortunately. People tend to forget that what they learn is what is to be applied on the road, not partially applied when they feel like it.
fuck me just went to do a quote with Greenlight as you mentioned them, sat filling out all the shite only to find right at the bottom of the form (We don't insure BMW's)
Well that was good time spent...lol
In regards to the undertaking question, what if they did not physically move into lane one to undertake but were already in lane one when they approached said car in lane 2 as I feel we shouldn’t have to move over into lane 3 in this situation to pass one car and then pull back across
Few years ago I had my passenger window smashed and my dashcam nicked and I had the same experience the car felt tainted and I just hated the sight of my poor car. Took me a while to get back used to my car and 5 years later I still have the car and that bond still hasn't fully healed
The way that Gareth says RRRR Potter gives me a tingle
Sinking the Vitara in a Cesspool is all fine and dandy but if somebody opens the door and goes through the glovebox it’s off to the scrap yard Lol.
Europe is wild to me as an American. My insurance is $78 USD a month for my Camry. Gasoline is also much cheaper in the US and I get great mileage. On a tank I can go a theoretical 600 miles. Recently gas went up in price and all the dealerships near me are all basically sold out of the newer more fuel efficient cars. Recently a major car brand is introducing a 3cyl turbo gas car which is incredibly rare in the US. Horsepower also trips me up because on the low end most cars get about 200 at least and go up with larger cars or sports cars. Euro economy cars have much lower horsepower.
Can i stick the ECU in a 08 kia picanto?
2:00 even stock the oil pumps will die, my mates with MX5’s that are stock engine end up with bad oil pumps
@Do One yeah, they were bone stock tho too, just seems to be something that needs to be replaced at about 100k miles on them
You shouldn't pull over someone for undertaking if someone is driving slow in the outside lane when the left and middle lane is free
