Thank God Billy got the care he needed. Jimmy really moved me with his speech. He's so sweet. Hoping Billy recovers quickly
I was crying during his monologue. It was powerful
What did a "god" have to do with the amazing care these doctors gave his son? And which one is it again, Zeus, Thor, Jesus, Medusa, Achilles, etc - I never can remember which superstition you guys are believing now...
Ross Carlson exactly
"If you take responsibility for saving life, you have to take the blame for losing life."
POWERFUL MESSAGE that should put perspective to the responsibilities and risks that medical professionals go through.
#Respect
Club Madonna Philippines the whole point was that you SHOULDNT think of it like that...
However, if you do, I think you will be a far better doctor than not thinking at all.
Club Madonna Philippines I read this comment as he said that exact thing
Club Madonna Philippines agreed
now just w8 for every dickhead to change their whatsapp status to this quote or post it on facebook
As a nurse, It's reassuring to hear some appreciation. It's not easy and you get burned out so quickly but I never stop loving what I do.
Celia H. Amen Celia
*Claps*
Celia H. as a student nurse, it's nice to see that appreciation for the field is increasing
As a fellow Nurse I want to LOVE this infinity times... if it were not for nurses a lot of people would not be alive... Dr's are the ones who ultimately save peoples lives but it is because of A NURSE why the Dr was able to save those people
I loved that part where he thanked the nurses
I could never be a surgeon. They literally have people's lives in their hands.
Elena Saccon or a pilot
Elena Saccon You have people's lives in your hand everytime you drive. Think about it that way
or a bus driver, or a truck driver, or any driver... this put things in perspective, that is why we (starting with me) shouldn't drive while texting or while intoxicated
Don't bet against yourself, you could very well save the lives of many who otherwise wouldn't have a chance.
Everyone has everyone's lives in their hands if you think about it. That's why we have laws and a moral compass to guide us.
Oh wow. Good for them for recognizing nurses in such an honorable way!!!! 🙌🏻
Wow Dr Oz is so incredibly well spoken
Vanissa Lee loved what he said from 1:45
that's probably how he was able to make millions selling bullshit "miracle pills" on his show.
Vanissa Lee of course, he's a doctor 🤣
he went through 10+ years of additional schooling after high school.
Although what he said was quite misleading lol
It was heart warming when dr Oz had tears in his eyes. It really shows he cares about what he's saying.
He's an actor. It's kinda his thing.
My brother, Robert Hernandez was the first child in the 1950's to live through the surgery Billy will be needing to close the hole in his heart. I can honestly say that Billy will grow up to be a happy healthy little boy. My brother is now in his early 60's, father of three and grandfather of five. God bless you all and the medical staff at Cedars-Sinai. In fact, Cedars-Sinai is the very hospital they did the surgery. Mr. Kimmel you are in very good hands.
While not as serious as Jimmy's baby, but my son was born with hip dysplasia (first born, male, breach... the three most common conditions for it and he nailed them all). It was his nurse that spotted the issue only about fifteen minutes after he was born (the amount of time it took to get him from the O.R. to recovery). Because it was detected so quickly, we were able to get a pediatric orthopedist to see him quickly and was able to correct the problem early on.
HUGE props to nurses! I'm not biased though.... my wife is a nurse ;)
What a man! Respect!
Thank you for saying "and men," when Oz was talking about nurses! So glad your son was taken care of.
Thanks for recognizing how important our role, nurses' role in the medical world. 😘😘😘
Ronnie Dichosa Yes, I was very happy and appreciative that him and Dr Oz acknowledged us because sometimes our role goes unrecognized or is under-appreciated
Without nurses, there wouldn't be doctors.
Jimmy bring the nurse to the show!!
Ash S I don't think that's a good idea although nurses do deserve a lot os respect, recognition and better monetary appreciation
Why is that not a good idea? Explain.
My husband is a in the process of becoming a Cardiologist, and I always worry that his job is too much on him. He never complains or anything but I just see how hard he works. But seeing Dr. Oz's passion it reassures me that there is nothing he loves more, and that he is honored to do what he does.
It's so beautiful to see his passion. My husband gets so excited when talking to me about medicine.
Jimmy Kimmel has shown once again that he is a humble, and genuine individual. He really is incredible.
God Bless your husband for doing all that he is to become a Cardiologist... The amount of lives all of his hard work will one day save is so highly commendable and in my own opinion, it's down right heroic...
Also - MAD props to you too for the way you are supporting him and standing behind him. That takes a STRONG woman to do that, and you have my complete admiration and respect.
Reading your kind words were so humbling. We appreciate it so much. God bless you 🌹🙏😍
Rula Martini Your husband is a hardcore cardiologist
I have never seen nurses get so much respect on television like that. I am not a nurse but I am glad that they get recognized for what they do as team players.
Shout out to Nanouche, nurses really don't get the recognition they deserve
Zee Doctors wouldn't be able to function without the nurses. They spend more time with the patients and know more about them than the doctors.
There are many in the medical field that don't get recognized for all they do. It's physically and emotionally draining especially if you are dealing with children or terminal patients.
I know. I try to explain this to many of family and friends but I guess it's just one of those thing where you have to experience it to fully understand. Nonetheless, I still enjoy and appreciate what I do
It's certainly not a job for everyone. I would get way to attached to the patients.
lol, yeah, that happens sometimes...especially when they tell you their life stories. But it's a holistic profession so I guess that's bound to happen sometimes lol. As long as it stays professional, you are good and honestly, a lot of patients enjoy building a connection with you because it creates a trusting environment for them in a scary situation.
I'm a perfusionist who run the heart lung bypass machine which keeps the babies/adults alive while the surgeon fixes the hearts. I'm so honoured to be part of the team which help families like this!
God bless you and yours Jimmy.
Thank God for your doctors and nurses!
Kou Yang , well whatever you believe in you are allowed to. I am saying thank goodness (or God) he was in caring capable hands who noticed something was wrong. No need to be so crabby. I believe in science too. Have a great day!
Nichole Aurora More like, thanks science
Gods don't exist.
You should be thanking the educational system.
Science isn't something you "believe in". It's a tool you can use. That's all.
rg0057 Well honey you are totally allowed to believe whatever you want to. And I am sure those Nurses and Doctors are very thankful for their expensive education. But I am very grateful for them being so kind and attentive.
I love the passion with which this man talks about his profession
Kudos to that nurse! Just like Dr oz said I think Billy will be just fine.
Yes. Nurses rock!!
"Dr" LOL
@@rg0057 What's wrong with that? He is a cardiothoracic surgeon and his Father was a cardiovascular surgery specialist who died recently at the age of 94.
What are you?
This is why i am in medical field.
robinsan thiyam bless you, don't stop, he a doctor and save lives xo
robinsan thiyam Which is why you're hardcore.
Luwang Ningthou true! It's an amazing field to work in
thank you for your service.. :)
I'm so lucky I live in the UK. The NHS has saved my life so many times, it's criminal the way healthcare is treated on this planet.
Nurses will never receive enough credit! We are the eyes and ears of the doctor
bubblez94 yeswear
Doctors and Nurses deserve to be paid the same, if not more, than movie stars and other entertainers. Its sad because in this day and age, you can make more money as a youtuber than a Doctor or a Nurse. God Bless all those amazing souls who choose a career in medicine!
pristine govender sorry but they do not deserve to be paid the same/more. It's all about what your services are worth. same thing with athletes
Gerard Deane I'm not saying that what they do is less valuable or important, because it isn't. What I am saying is that there are hundreds of thousands of doctors in the US but only a couple hundred that can endure and excel in the brutal game of football or have the ability to lead a franchise into tentpole status. lionel messi is paid millions of euros per year because he is one of the top players in the world. he is virtually irreplaceable. you can't say the same about most doctors. yeah there is perhaps only 1 who can do a specific procedure but for the most part this isn't the case
pristine govender very good point.
Entertainers receive small amounts of money from millions of people. Medical professionals receive a large amount of money from hundreds or thousands of people through their insurance company. Pay is not determined by what is just or fair, but by what the market is willing to pay for the value of the good or service. If the medical field paid just as well as the entertainment field, more people would enter the market and drive down the cost of care. Obviously you can't put a price on life or health, but it can't be zero nor can it be infinite.
At the end of the day you should pursue a field that makes you happy/fulfilled. Someone who goes into the medical field for money alone will not be happy and probably give poor care to patients.
i have nothing against nurses but i dont believe they should get paid the same i believe nurses wages should get higher depending on their contribution and time theyve been in the mesical industry. A doctor goes to medical school and studies non stop especially being a surgeon. All in all their both great because it contributes to the world of science and making it better.
I had no idea Dr. Oz was so humble. Great guy. "If you take responsibility for saving life, you have to take the blame for losing life."
Poor Jimmy he was just there listening and picturing that scene of the doctor opening his son's chest...
But I think he appreciated it. The unknown is what scares us the most. What's wrong with my son? Will he live? What do I tell my wife if he doesn't? Will he be able to live a normal life?
It's always better to know.
Well said Stone. Very well said.
I had open heart surgery at two weeks and my dad actually took a picture of me with my chest open through the window.
MrTwbrien angels are watching over new spirit , he is in God's hand, we need to trust him.
RandomGuy don't put all your trust in humans, God is in control. he knows best, he created us and his spirit.
I've had 4 open heart surgeries, my last one was when I was 6 years old. Im now 19 and i know many kids who also have heart conditions and I can understand everyhting your going through. Billy will be the perfect child and a good education tool for other families and yourself
Dr.Oz is the best guest ever
Dr Oz performed my great aunt's heart surgery, he's amazing
The look on Jimmy's face when the doctor said the baby should grow up completely normal. I'm so glad little Billy wil be ok!
he spoke great words about the responsibility. very humble and intelligent man. love and respect to jimmy
My one year old daughter just had open heart surgery to repair a Complete AV Canal Defect. It was one of the hardest things we have ever had to do as a family. I watched every video to prepare for her surgery, even continued to watch some during recovery in the hospital just to try and prepare myself. Now we are home and were all a little terrified! haha I now have the task of keeping a VERY BUSY toddler in bed for 4-6 weeks... We are vlogging our journey in hopes that we will help other families! Thank you for sharing!
9th!
Praying for your baby and your family Jimmy!
Do something useful next time.
definetely more useful than whatever youll be bloody well doing, thats for certain there mate
TheCoper COper edgy atheist
Regardless of what Dr Oz gets up to on daytime television, I will always respect him as a heart surgeon.
Im from turkey and im so proud that dr oz is a turkish guy that is so popular around the world. Saving people
Wooohooo! Shout out to all my nurses! Such a proud moment to be a nurse!
Sherin Philip Amen! It is a very rewarding profession.
Sherin Philip nurses are the best!
Nurses are angles
doctors are decorated as gods in this world. They deserve it
Man is not God, so no.
blumountaindew god is not real so....

Doctors who save lives everyday are not acknowledged but a girl who is rude to her mum shouting "catch me outside" is now a celebrity making millions of dollars from the media
Dr. Oz - thank you for recognizing that nurses are at the patient's bedside, 24/7, and contribute as much as physicians to pt. care and recovery
God bless you Jimmy and your family!
what a well-spoken man
much love and prayers sent your way jimmy
as a Mom of a tetralogy of fallot survivor, my heart and prayers go out to Jimmy and his family. I know 1st hand what it is to see your newborn going thru open heart surgery and just praying your hardest for the best and a miracle. prayers for Baby Billy, and speedy recovery. tetralogy of fallot & Chd awareness, every cent helps. God bless!
praying for little Billy! jimmy had me crying during his monologue.
perfect example of STEM helping the world. Doctors can't do anything without the technologies they have.
You make it sound like doctors aren't part of STEM when the first letter stands for Science. Idiot.
Ahnaf Ahmad You are one smart individual aren't ya?
I can't imagine WHAT these guys have against STEM. And no. Biology is not the same as technology. And a surgeon is not the same as an engineer.
Because of STEM we get to read all of these lovely hate comments too. Can't win 'em all.
As a medical student who studied engineering, medicine is still the same and technologies continue to advance
this just reminds me of my med school days. staying up late to understand tetralogy of Fallot, the presenting symptoms, the available treatments, imagining how the defects are as compared to a normal functioning heart..... i hope more and more people will have more knowledge and understandings about this condition through this.
Thank God for his son’s life. And the doctor and nurses are extremely caring.
Thanks Jimmy, Dr. Oz & Shaun White for this educational tribute to the role of nurses & doctors.
What a great show filled with good news and blessings! God Bless you Jimmy Kimmel and your family with a special new member!
“It’s a team sport”
As a nurse, I’ve noticed that every great Doctor has always said that, in some form. Truly, the whole peri-operative experience would not be possible without the vital work of each and every team member, including the cleaning, maintenance, and dietary staff. We can’t do it without each other.
Thank you Dr Oz for acknowledging Nurses!!!! As a nurse I appreciate that.
I was born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a congenital heart defect and i know how you feel about your son's health, i'm now 20 years old and i'm completely fine and healthy.
Jimmy's voice in this video is still so deep. Cheer up, Jimmy! Everything has gone well and you will continue enjoying fatherhood :)
High five for the doctor, major kudos to the nurse who caught it!! All hail to you nurses!!
People need to appreciate nurses more! 🏥
So glad your son is okay😄! And what a blessing you are to your patients doctor thank you for what you do!!
Agree with Dr. Oz, happy stories like this are what remind me why I got into medicine.
All my blessings for little Billy. May god bless him.
I am so THANKFUL YOUR GORGEOUS BABY BOY IS OK JIMMY!!!!
you can tell Jimmy was trying really hard to not tear up
Jimmy Kimmel is the epitome of strength. I have incredibly paramount of respect for him. Prayers always for Billy and the rest of the kids.
this interview flowed so nicely i feel like i was listening in on a private conversation between the two of them
One of my favorite videos. I never knew all about the heart and how the blood works. Great educational video.
God bless you and your family
The dislikes could be from Dr. Oz missing the few other key characteristics of tertalogy of fallot. The reason why Billy was blue (cyanotic) and the seriousness of the tertalogy of fallot is the pulmonary stenosis due to an overriding aorta. This means the lungs are not or getting highly reduced amounts of deoxygenated blood. This also means the amount of left side blood (the red in the picture) is extremely diminished. Thus the heart is practically circulating mostly if not all deoxygenated blood and not a life-sustaining amount of oxygenated blood. Tertalogy of Fallot is a very serious condition and Billy will have more surgeries to come as Jimmy had said. They will, later, need to fix the sizes of the artery openings of both the aorta and the pulmonary artery from the heart back to normal as well as adjust the sizes of both semilunar valves that control the flow of blood going out of the heart. I hope everything goes well Jimmy
Viet N 3 surgeries later Im 30yrs old
Very nice video. Very informative and helpful 💖
Jimmy's situation and what Dr. Oz said inspires me to pursue a career in medicine
So brave of Jimmy to actually be present at the show.... and HUGE respect to Dr. Oz -That man knows what he's talking about!
I had no clue Dr. Oz was an actual practicing doctor. I knew he was a medical doctor, not like Dr. Phil, but I never would have guessed he still see patients, and that he teaches a Columbia too.
God blessings for you and your family dear Jimmy
Doctors deserve to be admired and praised way more than so many celebrities
At 5:55 you can see jimmy is still wearing the hospital band
Lindsay Stevens damn that eye! lol prob in case he needs to go back
Wow he is so passionate about his job. I wish more doctors were like him. A great speaker too
God bless those who save lives and touch lives each and every day.
God bless Surgeons everywhere.
Doctors are the best!
Tony Thomas with a big help from nurses
Exactly!
Poor Jimmy. He was on the verge of tears 😟
My sister (now 37) has Tetralogy of Fallot. Back in the early '80s it took three open-heart surgeries to correct by the time she was 5 yrs old. My mother still speaks fondly of the nurses that helped them along the way.
But even then, they said a lot of ToF kids appeared sickly and/or didn't live to be 18. We've sure come a long way over the past few decades.
so well spoken
'LIFE is worth more than gold' HOPE that Billy has a healthy happy life and Jimmy Kimmel is really a good person and Dr Oz is more than competent. Peace and good vibrations to everybody who want people to be healthy and happy!!!! Ain't nothing more pure and beautiful than a baby laughing so hope Jimmy and his family end up having a lot of laughs and good times....😊
Dr. Oz omg i love u so much u are the best god bless u my sweatherat.
What an absolutely top guy that doctor is.
Great guy, Dr. Oz.
Nurses are like angels watching over you!
I’ve had two heart surgeries, it sucks
I hope ur ok ❤
LOVE YOU JIMMY!
Nurse's don't get nearly the appreciation that they deserve... The nurse that Jimmy's son happened to have that day - was an angel that more than likely saved his life... #godblessnurses
God Bless!!
Gosh i love this man
As someone with TOF, its truly amazing what modern medicine has allowed.
Dr.Oz hit the nail on the head I choose not to become a doctor because I don't think I can handle losing a patient...much respect to the men and women around the world who are strong enough to be doctors.
My son has hypoplastic left hear syndrome and the heart surgeon and nurses were amazing. I thank God for these people every day.
We lost my uncle in the 50's., after he declined having one of the first, experimental operations to repair a hole in his heart.
His choice, but I would have loved to have known him. We're so happy they caught this; love that boy to the moon.
Gotta love Dr. Oz
@jimmykimmel i just love the show and also you as a great human being. Not scared to show emotion and your true heart :-)
Incredible
respect to those doctors
i just want to give a big thanks to nurses man! They are like angels they should be paid way more than what they are, no basketball or baseball player should be paid more nurses do, it's a shame! MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT TO NURSES!!!!!!!!
Omg I love Dr. oz! Thanks sm for the knowledge! I can't wait to be a med student!!!
His proud Turk 🇹🇷🇹🇷 PROUD Mehmet Öz.
eee ne olmus?
@@ismailemre34 Ne ne olmuş? Sanki kötü bir şey söylemiş.

Sorry but there's nothing Turkish about him except his blood. He is pretty much Americanised. So you can keep your Turkish ego in check now lmao
