I'm not surprised they married Mixed race women. Look at Marcus Garvey. His second wife Amy Garvey said he was enchanted by her hair and white features. Malcolm X was the only Black nationalist who married a dark skinned Black woman
I've heard that! It's also a Brit saying... My mother uses it . I definitely remember the time that they ruled, even as an American, and Iwas young at the time... They were brutal to the Haitian people. 😢! Power taken too far.
I love this! I'm under pressure to take almost the class B exam today, I already have a class A, but I will be using this saying! Love your videos!
Why Haiti don’t get their reparations from France ; I hate when Haitians don’t badly about black Americans wants reparations from America !

She reminds me of Marie Antoinette. Living an extremely lavish lifestyle while the people starved.
“Let them eat cake”
I believe she’s worse cause she actually was around the less fortunate & seen firsthand for herself yet she still lived lavish
@@CacaoFlowerIt’s not as simple as that.
i was about to comment that as well
If you study the history, MA got a bad rap. She never actually said, “Let them eat cake.”

My mom told me about this era cause she grew up in it as a child and she said isn’t it ironic how this lady is wearing Chanel custom looks and living in her ivory tower while everyone else was starving or in constant fear of being hurt for not agreeing with her dictator husband.
Man, our parents really have some trauma from this era. 😢
I expect the men were particularly lackadaisical .Even the rich ones had several mistresses and the wives were just figureheads, broodmares and managers .Funny how from the outside looking in others would begrudge the Duvaliers status and rank .When Chanel was literally more affordable than some of the ps5s and laptops today

Three million dollars for a wedding in a country where people are starving is insane! If she was a dark skinned woman who was divorced with two kids he would have never married her regardless of her background.
Black men have the same pathology, if you follow Cynthia G, she talks a lot about it. Black men with money or without money believe lighter skin is better and deserves better.
She was there for revenge because of the way Papa Doc treated her father. She was in a mission
@@annecelestin8534 I agree. I made a statement below that I believe she was an agent on assignment for France.
He wouldn’t consider her.
Speaking facts!
Papa Doc was against the mulato people but both he and his son married one.
Seeing Michelle behaviour it sort of confirms his concerns...
Always the case
I suspect that they hate themselves and marry mulatto thinking of the descent...
Simone Duvalier was not mulato.
Was he against mulatos as a people or he was against them hoarding power amongst themselves against the darker skin haitians?
My mother left haiti in 1978.. now 76 years old, she has no desire to ever go back. Nothing but sadness and pain when she speaks about Haiti.

Dont blame ,people in Haiti live in slums ,so sad
Do a story about the First Lady in Philippines who had all the shoes.
Yes!! I thought about her. Imelda Marcos,
Imelda Marcos was a mess indeed
Used to quote her in our English compositions when we were young
Why are so many leaders wicked and greedy? Especially among suffering and impoverished people??

She can keep the clapbacks; where is all Haiti’s money?! A fur coat living in Haiti is wild. Like WHY?!
But a part of the white house had room that was converted into a cold room wth snow flakes iheard.😮
Too hot 🔥 for a fur coat 🧥 in Haiti! 😂🤣
I understand the idea of dignity- she wanted to prove to other first ladies that she wasn't some peasant who had never seen a diamond before. But there's a case for not flaunting your wealth. Don't prove anything to the other first ladies; prove your love to the people. I think Haitians would have forgiven the gowns and the jewels, but a fur coat that has to be refrigerated?!
Did they spend all of the $800?...Is it all gone?...😮😮
My uncle was one of the USAF pilots that flew Baby Doc and family out of Haiti to France in 86. He had some interesting observations. One of them was that the wife and daughter were "dripping in jewels" on the plane.

Years ago I would have gleefully listened to the accounts of them but current news of Haiti 🇭🇹 is so overwhelming that I’ll have to comeback to this later.
I'm so sorry! I can understand why ! I remember that Mother Teresa reference.
The church that I attend has an orphanage and a school in Haiti for the past 40years and we hear reports each Sunday on what’s going on there.
The gangs are in total control. They’ve even gotten equipment to run over and demolish police stations and have kìlled police officers, as well.
The prime minister has now left the country and they gangs have taken over the streets.
We send much money each week and those in charge of the orphanage and school need to go out to the market to stock up on food for the children there (especially since the gangs have now taken over the ports also and it isn’t clear how long people will be able to get food at all or how much if will be sold for by the gangs if they do get it) but there is fear of being robbed and carjacked in the streets once they go outside.
There is total lawlessness. For all of this, please keep Haiti in your prayers. 😔

It happened to my mother when she was a child, but with Michele Duvalier's sister ( I forgot her name and weirdly I can not find her on the internet anymore) My mom was around 6 years old and was playing in front of the house. My grand-grand grandma and my grandma were sitting in front of the house talking when a black limousine drove by. Minutes after, the limousine car came back and parked in front of the house and Michèle's sister came out. She got closer to my mom and started talking to her telling her how much she was cute and such. My grandma and a couple of others from the neighborhood gatherd around. She was asking if she could take my mother with her. My grandma plead with her. Michèle's sister litteraly tried to negociate into buying my mother as a child. She than gave up and left. My mother said it was a known thing around the area that the Bennett's sisters would take children.
So they were just buying children? Wtf

It's hard to praise her "legacy" in feeding starving children when they left the country to fend for itself because in essence they robbed them. How lovely 😒
Sending prayers out to Haiti currently! Just heartbreaking 💔
I cannot wait for the Mother Theresa video. I have heard, so I look forward to your coverage on her!
She was no worse or better than many women that were married to dictators at that time in history. All I know is that under the Duvalier government Haiti was a stable country with very little crime and at that time Haitians were proud to be Haitians. Looking back Haiti has never been as stable or safe since the ousting of President Jean Claude Duvalier.
Thank you!! I agree with this comment. Let’s really look at all of the history of Haiti. Things have been really bad for Haitians since democracy came. There was a time where the country was stable and it was really during baby Doc’s reign. I have family from that time and they said he was nothing like his father.
are you crazy. this man and his goons were out here murdering and raping people. scaring people is not peace
Exactly I’m 31 years old my parents always saying how beautiful and clean how being Haitian was a big thing we were respected everywhere Haitians were not getting the treatment they getting now from Dominicans people were respectful the country was safe there were no gangs it’s funny how people always talking how evil the Duvalier were how they’re stole billions all is bs schuippssss

I love your work. I can see how much time you put into all of your videos. I hope to be like you one day.
