The Mariners had some really unfortunate base running. That was crazy!

Trying REALLY hard to not say we’re back. I won’t say it unless we end up sweeping the mariners. But we have looked really good ever since the Mexico series. Valdez is pitching tomorrow so I definitely think it’s a winnable game and we could have a chance at winning the series. Also I love how Altuve has almost a .350 batting average yet nobody is talking about it. Altuve may be a MVP candidate

The Astros started so terribly because they had 5 starting pitchers on the IL. It’s really that simple. JV and Framber have recovered, and the rest will return eventually. It is not too optimistic to say “we’re back.”

A would be double play ball ricochets off Thornton allowing a hit, a soft grounder that isn't able to turn 2, a bad (and unnecessary throw by Cal), a sac fly, and then a gifted run on strike 3 (awful umpiring tonight). Bounce back tomorrow for a win with Walter

I KNEW sending down Abreu to the minors would be the BEST MOVE they've made so far this season along with FINALLY bringing up Leoporfido to the majors! Starting Singleton regularly has also been a nice shot in the arm for the Astros offense. Starting pitching is rounding in to form with Velander, Valdez, and Javier just around the corner and Ronnel has so far proven to be a solid, reliable starter in our rotation - not bad for a "#5" pitcher, eh? Arrighetti is out-performing Brown and think Brown needs to be sent down in my opinion. "Verlander 2.0" he's been touted? Uh, I think not! To be only 5 games out of first place in the division after that terrible start to the season is really great to see and like our chances to eventually overtake the lead! Go STROS!!

@@firnenlegacy He sure is. He needs to retire cuz his performance has fallen off the CLIFF the past 2 and half years -Including his final 3 or 4 months with the Sox. Not sure Singleton is the long-term answer - he's more of a back-up guy imo.
When Julio is right, there is no chance he doesn't elevate the ball at 5:56 and hit a double or HR. That was definitely a mistake pitch.

I live in the NW (S.F. Giants fan), the Mariners will NOT win the division 2024...too many game errors. Mark my words.
These Astros are just such an annoying team. Though they are not great this year, they are still good.
The biggest reason the Astros haven't been playing great is all because of pitching. Valdez, Javier, Garcia, Urquidy, and Mccullers have all been on the IL and it's really been hurting the team, but they're all slowly coming back now. Pitching is why the Mariners have been off to a great start though, I think I saw somewhere you guys have the best starting pitching right now

Another example of how the M's will struggle to win consistently without Cy Young-quality pitching every night. Obvious implosion by the bullpen + bad defense cost the M's but lack of offense continues - .219 BA and 0-3 RISP. Julio with 2 more opportunities with the guy ahead of him on base and 2 more failures - there are now 10 guys on this miserable offense with more HR's than Julio & the fact that Dylan Moore has now lapped Julio in HR's is hilarious. Go M's!

For all you ranger fans and fans of other teams that are clowning on the Astros for their record and place in the standings, keep in mind this: it’s very early may. There are still 130 games left in the season. Standings don’t matter right now. What matters is winning games and that’s what we did today. Standings don’t start to truly matter until like mid August. And by then, I believe we will be in first by a good margin

Mariners gave that win away but even so I will give credit where credit is due, the Astros made a good come back.
If it was the other way around the Mariners would probably load the bases with no outs and then get a strike out
and double play and they would do so TWICE in the same game.
